Thank you all so much for your replies, and for the very interesting and thought provoking discussions here ... loved reading them all. I think we all agree that Khushi's setting up her own business is definitely a track to be welcomed, but the way it was done was very poorly thought out (putting it mildly!)

@appy, Smita ... I am totally with you on your point that the cv's are wasting SI's awesome talent ... she is a fabulous actress who can do all emotions seamlessly and effortlessly, but they seem to be concentrating on the comedy - forgetting that good comedy is the most difficult genre to write ... and with this story comedy can't be presented in isolation, it has to be tied up with the emotions of the moment. The portrayal was fine, SI did her best with the material given - she was supposed to be irritating Arnav and she did that in spades ... but alongside that should have been her confusion, her mixed emotions to this man, her reactions to Shyam - a few monologues would be adequate to cover that, even if she has conveniently forgotten her confession, but we didn't get any of that, apart from the rabba ve's ... I did like the office one.
And ditto for BS - another fantastic actor - reading Sari's take, I get that he was supposed to be confused about his feelings and hers, ... but the way the scenes were scripted, the audience was the one left confused ... does he remember, or does he not ... though his character was definitely less butchered, except for the few scenes I listed.

@Phoenix - the SPA night has made me all charged up for the show again - the PH has a great team and a fantastic lead pair ... just hope they put their best creative juices into this show, instead of diverting them all over the place! I agree with you and Japonica - the actors held the script together this week, but the PH has to make sure the characters stay intact - because the characters make the show ... the actors make the characters. If the cv's tamper with the characters too much, the actors cannot salvage them! And the audience of IPKKND seems to be mature enough to know the difference!

@AnnieK - I agree with you that Khushi's antics were childlike - and after reading Sari's excellent post, I did re-think Khushi's antics. But I hope the cv's have also had the same thought process and are not putting in the comedy for the sake of it ... the disconnect was not because Khushi (and Arnav with her!) was acting childish, it was because of the jumping of tracks without enough explanation given. She's driven into a corner, she's had enough and she decides, okay, I promised I won't leave, but he can throw me out, can't he? - logical, and very Khushi-like, she won't sit in a corner and cry and put up with nonsense for the next six months! But the sudden jump to 'I have to return his money' and the way she went about it ... not well done, and not Khushi-like.
Anyway, hopefully the feedback will reach the right people ... with Arnav concentrating on Shyam, am hoping for some improvement this week.
@Dashing_Girl - agree with you completely - the characters have to be kept intact - the actors are fantastic, just give them the right raw material and they will take the show to dizzy heights - they already have with no backing from the channel!

SS83, merrydock, thanks!

@Sush - yep the characters were what made this show in the first place - unlike most other shows on SP (which I noticed during the SA), this show doesn't have a specific message, or a social theme - it is purely and simply a love story ... and on the way, if the cv's can put in some messages, well and good, but the main theme is the love story between two people who are poles apart. And for that reason, those two characters are of paramount importance in the show - not just the initial characters, but their evolution ... the change has to be shown slowly and steadily ... and consistently.

I didn't mind the dabba bit - my husband works in a huge multinational and his office has a canteen, but there are many people who bring food from home for various reasons, and many bachelors who order food from various sources and are always happy for a home cooked meal. And like I said, their bosses are never worried about the source of the food - it's none of their concern!
The SPA evening did rejuvenate my interest in the show 😉 ... hope that it manages to retain it this week - though with Sanaya missing for most of the week, I'm not expecting too much progress. Unless she's worked her butt off doing enough scenes to keep the week going.

Hey Nadzie 😃 ... honestly, although I found Khushi's antics very irritating, I could find an excuse for them - they had a specific purpose, which was declared at the beginning of the week - irritate the s*** out of Arnav, so he throws her out. It was the execution of the scenes which bugged me, calling in Anjali for the cockroach, the forced RV's ... the horrendous bathroom didn't help, it was hugely distracting 😉 ... and then we just jump to Khushi wanting to earn some money ... and the way she started off. Not in character at all ... I guess they were rushing the Khushi scenes, because she is going on leave, but surely some more thought could have been put in? Lazy scriptwriting is my major crib for the week 😆 and yes, I'm missing nandu bandu too - I thought he was staying on in the show - what happened? It was so cute to see him with the IPK cast - he was obviously having a ball with them all!

Great post Diya, I was wondering if you'd write this week given the week that was glad you posted.
TWTW was a rollercoaster ride! It had its good moments and bad.
Good:
Loved Khushi's first priority being her husband instead of her sister, the way she ran to stop Arnav from drinking the wrong meds was very well done! It came natural to her she didn't have to think twice before running to him
Khushi taking full advantage of her rights as Arnav's wife, shouldn't matter how long this marriage is supposed to last, she is still his wife and has as much rights to that room as he does. Icing on the cake was Anjali helping Khushi while Arnav stood by helplessly!
Khushi seeing Arnav eating her cooking, the smile of content was just an aww scene for me. It just meant so much to her to see Arnav enjoying her food. I just loved everything about this scene from Khushi's what the moment, to her smile, to her stopping Arnav from eating sweets and him not refusing when she offered to cook for him the next day. It was just perfect!!
Khushi the businesswoman, Arnav was so happy when she referred to herself as the wife of a businessman. I am enjoying Khushi working again, best of all she has the support of Nani who is back in character with not giving a damn about society.
Arnav not easily believing Shyam's I have changed act, instead he is putting him to the test by not giving him money and instead wanting him to earn for his wife and child.
Bad:
Wednesday's episode in general. It started off well, Khushi was so cute with her Salman dance but then things turned into a disaster. What was the need to reduce Khushi to becoming an immature over the top child? The screaming, the shutting off the water, the forced Rabba Ves, cockroach, taking digs at Arnav... need I say more???
Khushi and Shyam, again the CVs took a positive and turned it into a negative. Khushi was becoming alert about Shyam yet instead of having her worry about his persitence we saw her thinking of ways to pay back Arnav because of that ridiculous IOU. I get it, she put it in writing that she would pay him back and wants to honor that its fine but why have her forget all about Shyam? I would have liked the CVs to show some consistency by at least being uncomfortable with his presence at the table, maybe have him giving her creepy looks or something. The fact Khushi was not shown taking this seriously after such a scene in the previous epi was just a huge missed opportunity on the part of the CVs
As for the MU, I don't think that will be cleared anytime soon. I think the CVs are determined to drag that on for as long as they can, I am fine with that as there are ways of bringing Khushi and Arnav together without that MU coming out.

Hi Diya thanks for TWTW..love reading your take..its such a pleasure!👏

This week had to be one of the worst in the storyline, direction, scripting, setting, anything you name it this week IPK was at the lowest with inconsistent characterisation and dialogues.👎🏼
I just cannot take when characters are butchered...it annoys me anmd leaves me frustrated. That is what happened this week. We had so many arhi scenes nothing enjoyable because all the actions was OTT.
I felt bad for Sarun...they must have put so much of effort shooting these scenes all because of poor scripting it was down the drain.

The brainless comedy..and it was like each day one story ...one day annoy ASR next day have to do something with Shyam...forget that immediately and jump into business the next day..absolute lack of continuity.

Same goes to Arnav..he remembered the confession but no action on that no connecting of dots...where is the monologues? What are the charcaters thinking...is kushi doing all this to irritate Arnav..why dont they show a scene where she is very hurt by Arnav's hiding the reason for marriage and then he comes into the room and in anger she starts to annoy him..you see the viewers should know why the chracters are doing what they are doing..we cant assume always.

Seeing a confident and entrepreneural kushi has always been my dream...its in her she was always like that by the executin was bad and why not show it that she not doing for a mere Rs.300 but for her future or for her babuji's treatment...looks too much to ask from the present cv team:(((

Thanks for letting me rant Diya!😆

What gorgeous, gorgeous analysis. I guess I don't have anything more to add than whatever it is that other comment posters have said. On a whimsy note though I hope these two fix their marriage soon, how else are they going to have a good shot at the best pati/patni awards next year!

Yes, that! I have always wondered about that too. I mean we all know that Arnav's past has scarred him, but what has been Khushi's damage because of her childhood turmoil hasn't been sufficiently explored. Sure she puts fake stars on top of her bed, but surely it requires more than that to fix it. I still remember this one thing that Arnav tells her during the New Year episode when he is in her room at midnight, "Nakli phool aur tarein lagane se yeh duniya khoobsurat nahin ho jaati. Yeh duniya utni hi bedard aur pathar dil hain jaise hamesha thi."

Loved your post!

@Shiela ... Love your petitions - am with you on both 😆 Save Khushi definitely ... Sanaya is an awesome actress, she makes crappy material bearable, give her some halfway good stuff and she will turn up trumps! Arnav - I usually like him when he bends to Khushi's childish level, but his behaviour didn't gel this week - it was as though the writers couldn't decide to soften him, and how much. Again a VERY difficult path to tread - to show his softening, since he remembers Holi, but he still doesn't want to admit it. I thought he was very very good in the office cabin, keeping his cool with great difficulty while Khushi was babbling all over the place, my main crib - publicizing their spat by cancelling orders - and the bathroom spat didn't gel with me. But yes, he is an emotional coward, recognizing his feelings doesn't make it easier for him to accept them ... he was confused - and so was the audience! But looking back at the week as a whole, it has been very choppy and jumpy ... especially the last two days - although they were actually better in terms of content! I just wish Khushi's business track had been given much more thought - it seemed very rushed and badly planned.

@nikki ... thank hon! Let's hope the coming week improves ...
@meens, thanks for putting down all the positives - maybe the week wasn't that bad if there were so many of them! Me too - am all charged up again about the show after SPA ... The main positives I took out of the Rabba ve's were that they seemed to affect Khushi more for the first time ... so hopefully leading to her realization now? And then to her unmasking Shyam?
Yes, the office track makes no sense because she was just wanting to be thrown out, and here she starts catering at his office? Although starting her business there otherwise would have made perfect sense - she has the access, the right contacts (her own husband) ... and she could always argue that she will do it here for 6 months, build up a reputation so that she can switch to other offices when her marriage ends - building up her cv and work experience as it were 😆
And please let Arnav continue to focus on Shyam ... thank heavens his dimaag finally started working in the right direction. Again,we need some monologues/scenes about whether he is beginning to doubt Shyam's story about Khushi or start seeing discrepancies himself ...

@Ratna, agree, the actors personae shouldn't overshadow the characters ... the actors are smart enough to know this, the cv's need to pull their socks up.

@Savi - I really hope Khushi continues to work, giving the reason to Arnav that she's looking out for what will happen to her after six months - not about returning Rs 300! But SP ... and the PH ... do they have so much "Nayi Soch?" Nani saying as much was great ... do they dare to follow it up? I will be surprised if they do ... 😕

@Riya ... glad to see you back! Yep, I love Khushi's new business track - she has all the right reasons to go for it, given her marriage is gonna be just for six months ... why give all the wrong reasons? She doesn't know corporate ethics, Riya, she's a young girl, but she does know it's his office, and he's the boss ... she should tell him - not ask him 😉 there's a difference!
She hasn't forgotten the need to know about her marriage - that's what the irritate Arnav track is all about - but it somehow got all mixed up with moving in, rather than moving out, they showed her only once hoping to be thrown out - when she asked him 'So what will you do?' as though daring him to say it ... and then got totally sidetracked with the office track. Lack of continuity big time!

@Midnight Star, Savvy ... thanks! A few positives were there, I guess the OTT behaviour and the jumping of tracks got us all messed up! Let's see what the week brings - like you, I would also like Khushi to continue her business venture!
The SPA evening has got me all charged up again about the show 😆 And agree, I loved the way Sanaya was dressed - the only one not fully in character, yet somewhat there! 😛

Holi confession, Arnav remembers Khushi doesn't? Not so sure.

  • Reason - she promised him once again that she wouldn't disclose the truth to anybody ; for her to say that she has to not remember what she told Shyam😆
  • But I think she does remember part of it coz she seemed troubled when he denied & her erratic behavior this week is a direct result of his denial, JMO.
  • Arnav I think remembers the whole thing; that is the reason he didn't flip on her various tantrums. The ASR we know, would have done what she expected, throw her out. He is exercising a lot of patience. Proves he loves her more deeply than I thought he did😳

Khushi has given up on this marriage, she will live her life the way she wants to. A direct result of his denial. It's up to Arnav now to convince her otherwise. He has to make her feel she is indeed his wife.

Does she remember it completely? Or vaguely ... in that she knows something happened .. it was nothing unpleasant ... you know how you wake up from a dream smiling, even though you can't recollect what the dream was about ... that would make some sense to me. And yes, you're right ... it would explain her behaviour ... and also her determination to go for broke this time - act her very worst, and see what happens ...

Arnav is exercising tremendous patience for sure ... but if he remembers her confession, what stops him from starting to slowly disclose bits of the truth? Not the entire thing ... but slowly start testing the waters with her ... let her see his strained relationship with Shyam and look for her reaction ... tell her he's worried about Di ... I would love to see him do that ... to show that he has started doubting Shyam's version

He was hurt when she said she wants to earn her living but he is the cause of it coz he doesn't make her feel that she indeed is wanted in his life. She is a girl with strong principles- she will never take a loan and not repay it. He should know that by now. I would love it if they showed consistency here, if she had tried repaying the Rs30,000 she took to pay the hospital. But it's a daily show, inconsistencies galore😆

She's not thinking about that yet ... it was given for once without any conditions attached ... the 300 rupees she has a written statement for. They could show her worrying about returning that too though ...

She wants to believe what he says out loud; you will never get the status of my wife, maybe in front of the family but not between us That is a pretty mean thing to say & then to expect the other person to understand your subtle display of care & concern, not happening! I am with her on that. So early in the relationship, you need confirmation of feelings out loud. Maybe after a few years it wouldn't matter so much.

Yes, and he does reinforce it in little ways - telling his guards not to let her in was one - silly though - when he's supposed to maintain the front in front of the world. Again, inconsistencies 😆

She is rebelling like a child; let me give an excuse for that behavior too😆 She has never been loved & that is why such a erratic behavior. Other than her dad I don't think anyone ever made her feel special. She is really hurt, she always dreamed of her prince charming, she thought she found one but it didn't turn out that way.

He is angry, upset & accuses her of hurting him. She doesn't know why. She tried to find out but it only made things worse; he threatened again & went too far with the fake divorce scenario. I think he has realized it too, since then he has taken a several steps back. We see a much less intense ASR, more Arnav👍🏼

Very true .. loved this part - all of it. Yes, he went too far, he realized it, and that's why so much softening ... he knows he went about it the completely wrong way and she has no trust left in him now ...

So she gave up & she is now in tantrum mode. Just like an 8 yr old coz she doesn't know how else... To forget her miserable unloved life, she goes around behaving like an 8yr old. Yes, 8 is a significant number in her life! Her emotional maturity stopped there, she lost the 2 people who were her strength at 8. Her parents! Yes, both parents are necessary for every child. She was too young to understand the loss and never really recovered She hides her hurt by this erratic behavior; appears happy but really not!

As for Khushi and her childhood, I loved the way you interpreted this. She knows she is adopted, and no one lets her forget it - any problem happens, and her being adopted is brought up - be it Payal's first marriage, her agreeing to Shyam and her runaway marriage, Yes they accept her back, but first it was because of Babuji, second time she had to say yes to Shyam, and now she apologised, but also this is Payal's sasural as well, the G's couldn't not accept her when the R's had done so. And so she continues trying her best to prove her worth to everyone ... trying her best to find love, to fit in ... to belong ... because she has never really belonged anywhere since she lost her parents.

She thought she had, when she found Arnav, but the relationship went so sour that she can't understand what to do. Again she tried her best ... she never runs away from situations, she faces them, tries to probe ... maybe if she finds the reason, then she can try to sort things out as she always does. So she did her best, but came up against a stone wall ... and now she has finally given up ... nothing she does makes a difference, so she will be her very worst - it might not solve things, but it might get her out of this situation she's in ... because she CAN'T see any more ways to sort things out ... she's tried everything.

Agree with you on Shyam & Anjali, they came across as an endearing couple. Kudos to Abhas for deceiving us all, one more time. Their wardrobe contributed to it too...They seem to be getting better clothing than the leads😕

The bathroom tussle, so not required & the rabba ve's were just a wasted opportunity. Even a shirtless ASR didn't help the scene, maybe for some diehard Barun fans😉 Somethings I wasn't clear on - was the office tantrums part of her 100 ideas? It didn't seem like. Well, I would have preferred she worked elsewhere not at AR. She has to be completely independent for ASR to admire her .

Adding from the above, I don't think it was thought out properly in her own head (much less the cv's) ... since there is no feeling of belonging, of being married, she wants to return her debt, as she has given up on the marriage, and she wants to return it before going, or being thrown out. And maybe things just got rolling ... employees liked her food, they wanted more ... she obliged, and it struck her to earn money out of it and pay her debt ... As for her starting at AR, I don't have a problem with that - not for now. She had access to the place, clout because of her name, and she used that to grab the opportunity, get some goodwill, get people ready to try her food, once they did and wanted more, she did her start up. What I would like now to see is for her to think that yes, she can do this for her livelihood when she has to leave RM, especially if she's still planning to get kicked out asap. We dont know that yet ... whether the cv's have jumped tracks or is this still a part. Badly written ... very badly thought out - if your viewers are not clear what the motivation of the characters is. The bulk of viewers don't spend so much time on analysis ... things have to be spelled out more clearly.

Bathrroom tussles, forced RV's, shirtless ASR ... none worked for me. The RV in the office worked much better

Some inconsistencies in direction/script - ASR licking his fingers, something he would never do. "sab ko mere shaadi se problem kya hai yaar..." ASR never would say something so casual. He would be angry and say something like - " Mere shaadi se sabko kya problem hai, dammit! " Khushi 's childish behavior is not inconsistent; it has appeared from time to time. Like running out of the bathroom screaming; we have seen that in the past. It may have been overdone this past week but it was always there. This feels like the lull after La left. They came back with a bang; hopefully we will see that soon.

Agree ... though I didn't like the bathroom and screaming then and I didn't like it now 😆

Dragging Shyam-Khushi sagai exposure to ASR, just doesn't make sense. Something ASR always proudly said, mein dhimaag se kaam kartha hun. Where is the dhimaag now? Even if he was seen to slowly connect the dots, would make sense but he is too busy disciplining his child wife. This week freezing the joint account - step in the right direction👏

Yep, ASR's dimaag needs to return from its vacation ASAP. Dragging the MU like chewing gum will kill interest in the show ... viewers needs to see good triumph over evil - not the other way round. And soon ... not stretched for months and months, then get busy thinking of the next track.

After a wash this week, hopefully better sense will prevail & CV's will steer the show were they originally intended it to be.The problem is the holes in the script and a poor attempt at comedy. A good measure of comedy is essential for every show; the content not juvenile.

Very true!!! Thanks for this awesome post!!!

@hparul, jamba, arshe, lovekkg, pinky ... and all ... thanks so much for your replies ... can't add to what you all have said. Just hope with the negative articles coming out, and if the cv's do read IF, they realize that we want the original IPKKND back, with tight script, good storyline ... and comedy where it belongs ...

Jamba - that's SP for you ... these are not the best actor awards - these are just popular awards. I think they have another set - or there are the ITA which are for all channels. But it was good to see BS, SI and the others clean up a few awards ... and they were rocking all through the show!

@Arshe ... loved your scene additions ... exactly what I meant - just a little thought, some tweaking, and keeping the characters in mind, rather than whether to give comedy or seriousness or romance or fun or whatever ... keep the story flowing and flesh it out with those extra touches ... this is a daily and you have all the time in the world.

@Pinky ... I dread that this week is going to be full of filler scenes ... with San off for four days ... let's hope we see some progress on the Arnav Shyam front ... agree with you and Shweta, that the OTT screaming Khushi could have been avoided - or at least altered to be less loud and yet have the same effect ... though Sari made me see her behaviour in a different light ...

Thanks punkin, sunita, showstruck, sharu Rag1ni, Mandy, Zu ... and anyone I missed ... loved reading everyone's take ... surprisingly for what we thought initially was a crappy week, everyone still found quite a few positives. Maybe our expectations of this show have become very high indeed! 😃 Mandy, loved your list! Zu, so true, we've wanted an independent Khushi for so long, but the way it has been done, I don't see her venture lasting too long 😕
