Just came to know from the WUs about Punar Vivah - new show on Zee Tv - that the female lead is a divorcee with a child living with her in-laws who stand by her and want to see her married again! Now that type of MIL is what I call zabardast and 'never seen before' character. Planning to watch this serial.

Wonder if Abbas was playing Arnav with that twitch of his, whether he'd garner as much support!

Ahahaha 😆 very doubtful ... but if Barun was playing Shyam i can bet then all the girls here would be all for extra-marital affairs !

Missclog2003/sudha 👏 👏 👏 lovely post ... read it twice! all the other ladies too 👏 y'all restore my faith 😊 I don't care what is currently or has been historically shown...or if TRPs go up because of this track ... I for one am going to be a broken record until I can chip away at some change... 😃

SJ,

Thanks for this thread You are 100% correct. I wanted to post this immediately after you made this post, but decided to take another route and posted something else (you know which one). Sorry for this long post.

But here is what I wanted to respond yesterday.

I never understood, the mind set of lot of forum members who support any ASR action.

The only thing that seems logical to me is, they are not able to separate Barun from ASR. For them Barun is ASR. That speaks volumes to Barun's capability as an actor. So probably they think, if anyone says ASR did wrong or ASR is wrong, it almost is sacrilegious because, they read it as Barun is wrong.

I for one don't agree with the rule, where only main characters should not be bashed. Why do they get a free pass. Whether it be a main male character or a main female character. Either bashing of characters shouldn't be allowed at all or it should be allowed, if it involved the character doing a wrong thing. There is show which comes at 11 PM where the main male lead is as villainous as you can get. Since, he is a main character, would anyone think twice before bashing his characterization. I know people will read this as I am comparing ASR and that DIG.

And here saying ASR is mean is called bashing? Shyam being called as many derogatory names as possible is fine. Is Shyam not acted by a real human being? If every one hates Shyam so much does that not mean the actor has played his role aptly. So why is it ok to bash Shyam. If Barun is making ASR believable, Abaas is doing an apt job as Shyam as well. So if we can blur the lines between Barun and ASR for his effective portrayal, why are the lines not blurred for Abbas and Shyam?

What about Sanaya and Kushi. Can anyone see Sanaya in Kushi. She is the female Barun and more. Barun in real life, is goofy, playful and only has one thing on his mind, to make people laugh. Polar opposite of what he plays. Sanaya looks, dresses, talks and walks like a regular normal 21st century girl. Polar opposite of what she plays. She is older than Barun in real life (I could be wrong) yet is pulling of an 18 year old with utmost conviction. So why are the reality and fiction lines not blurred when it comes to Sanaya and Kushi.

That is because, she doesn't make the hearts of 90% of the viewers dil go Dhak Dhak. Because 90% (probably) of telly watchers are women.

So no matter how brilliant she is in portraying angst, anger, sadness, loneliness all of that hard work is pretty much wasted. It is almost as if people are saying she is not doing a good job. Imagine. You are an actress who is carrying of a role of someone 10 years younger, has to offer such wide range of emotions and make audience feel your pain, it is taking less than 2 seconds for people to say, oh Kushi is not hurting that much. It is a bigger slap in the face because, the viewers know she doesn't deserve the punishment. Yet she is not able to convince the viewing public that she is being wronged, because the person wronging her happens to be ASR played by Barun.

Even for argument sake, let us say Barun is a far superior actor than Sanaya. These people, were not shedding tears, when ASR ran away and Kushi was being torn apart by self proclaimed moral police. Even then, all those mini Shyams got more understanding and more love than Kushi. Sanaya is hands down a better actress (in my book) compared to all the actors who were taunting Kushi. All people(most) could say was, why didn't she open her mouth, why didn't she tell Payal, why didn't she tell her mom when she was outside.

This to me is the biggest insult I see. I feel like, most think that showing support for Kushi they are disrespecting ASR. Which in turn means, they are disrespecting Barun. And Barun is adorable.

So since ASR seeks revenge, and wants to punish her, it is perfectly all right for the rest of the characters to punish her and forum understands each one of their actions and words. When the same characters use similar words on ASR they are hitting ASR below the belt. So they are moms and dads and sisters who should be shown respect by Kushi and should not be hurt by Kushi. But the same moms and dads and sisters are no longer "we respect our elders" and become demented for saying words to ASR.

Just imagine this.

Let us say Anjali mom is living. ASR is actually Akash real brother and Anjalis mom resents ASR for being in charge. Let us also imagine ASR can never say no to Anjalis mom as she is more than a mom for him too. Anjalis mom sees Kushi hugging Shyam. She plots and plans and black mails Kushi and get her married to ASR. This way, she is taking care of revenge on both Kushi and ASR (whom she quietly resents). Then she keeps torturing Kushi the same way. Same scenes. How many people here would be defending Anjali's mom. Zero. Even if Anjali's mom had a bad back ground and is often shown brooding and crying over her husband. There will be zero tolerance of her actions on this very same forum. Do you know who they will be supporting then. You guessed it wrong. No. Not Kushi. But ASR. They will say why is Kushi not telling her husband the truth. She deserves everything her MIL throws at her. She doesn't want to be treated cruelly she needs to stop being a sati saavitri and grow a back bone or tell her husband. They will even say, what kind of a wife is she. Can't she see her husband is dying in the middle. He loves his mom so much and cannot say anything to her and he loves his wife so much and cannot see her hurting. ASR is going through so much, hurting so much because of his mom whom he idolizes and hurting for his wife. Rivers of tears even in that case will be flowing for ASR.

So, what I am trying to say is, no matter what Kushi goes through, she will not get an iota of sympathy. Either in this track, or in the next track or in any track until the serial ends. I can even guarantee that everyone including ASR will forgive Shyam (if the CVs don't kill him off in the middle of serial) at the time when it comes to a point where this serial is winding down. Even then bricks and tomatoes and chappals will be thrown at Kushi.

Because. One heroine is sent to sleep with the cows and that serial becomes number one. Another heroine is forced against her wishes to marry, manhandled by her stalker, disowned by family, orphaned yet again, and we are number two. This week, because of sleeping in the cold, we will get to number One. Because in the other serial, the outside sleeping heroine has come inside.

I will be asked, so you don't want IPKKND to be number one. Not sure if that number one position is going to be because of Kushi's inhumane situations (I did not say who caused it so all you ASR lovers can hide your claws).

You know who I am talking about when I say "these people" below.

When has it become not ok to say I did not like watching this.

Who is giving these people reading posts and having a choice not to read it, telling what is allowed to be said and not said in a post. (Not talking about moderators or forum rules)

If they are not able to keep their opinions to themselves, shouldn't they realize others cant either?
Who is giving them the right to tell us the pain we see in Kushi is nothing compared to the pain they see in ASR.

Who gave them the right to tell us creatives have full rights to tell the story like the way they want and tell us posters we cannot write about what we saw?

Who gave them the right to tell if we hate ASR now we cannot love him tomorrow when he changes. And in the same breath say ASR may seem to hate Kushi now but will love her tomorrow.

Isn't that something? ASR Lovers (those who refsue to see ASR doing any wrong), your biggest excuse is. This drama is necssary. He needs to be like this because once he finds out the truth, it will be beautiful. You havent seen what will happen in future. He is going to repent and he is going to make Kushi feel like a princess.

Please take your own advice. We don't like his actions now, because we can love him that much more in the future.? Isn't that a beautiful thought??

Any doubts?

👏👏👏 This was brilliant, your other post was subtle but I'm so glad you came out and said it, you've really hit the nail on the head. Whether it's denial or not but that is the root of the issue, this "blurring of the lines" as you said it between Barun and ASR but it not applying to any other characters like Shaym or Mamiji. It's irritating to see posts demanding ASR and Khushi not be called names when it's perfectly fine to call the other characters names. As a viewer if we're given the chance to appreciate what is being shown on television then we also have the right to express disappointment at what is being shown. Why does no one object when we praise the writers and the scenes but why is there objection when we question the sensitive and serious issues the writers are romanticising on television. The writers and the channel should be held accountable. I loved the comparison to ASR's resenting mother, sadly it's the truth of every show, things can be overlooked depending because of who is committing the questionable act so it's refreshing to see a bunch of people who aren't afraid to call out on the wrong acts done by the characters they love the most! The rising trps are an issue, people like drama no matter how questionable but it's jeopardising the essence of this show and that is the sad part, if it continues down this rate I'm sure they'll be a proportion of that same group who won't be able to identify with ASR's character either! Lastly as you said, we love his character that much that we can't see the writers damage it slowly but surly! Brilliantly said!

Hope others take the time to read it! ^

Let us get a consensus from the other members who have been posting on this thread in support of the issue.
We can then find out how we can start the process. This is really important. Hope everyone responds to the idea.

Do you remember the scene where ASR apologizes to Khushi for the first time, and in a fit of "passion" he leaves marks on her arm? I recently watched the following scene over where Khushi quietly covers up the marks left by ASR on her arms. Appalling!

She has been bruised so many times by the men in this show. I'm surprised she doesn't walk around with a Taser!

Not sure if we can stop this nonsensical track now because a lot of money is riding on it probably, but let us petition for a disclaimer to be shown on the screen whenever such scenes are shown in this show.

The disclaimer should read - "What is being shown at the moment should not be followed in the name of romance in real life because it legally amounts to 'domestic violence/abuse' and anybody reported to be practicing it is committing a criminal offence and can be subject to prosecution if found guilty"

This is especially important for this show because it actually passes such stuff as romantic. Unlike many other social-issue based shows where they show it to make a point about the 'issue'.

Many other shows on SP right now require such disclaimers, but I can speak of this show only because this is the show I watch. It feels regressive to keep watching the mutilation of social values that I uphold and not do anything about it.

Very apt to the situation dear.. CVs are going overboard glamourizing DOMESTIC VIOLENCE under cover of so called ROMANCE..

1. That family has disowned me so I dont care what happens to any member of that family so go and break up that marriage .
or
2. If you are the only man of the house and Akash has no say on whether his wife should stay on or not, then it is better for payal to be not married to a non-man like Akaash

Whatever she says and even if she agrees to balck mail...ASR does not become right...people talk always about how Khuhi chracterization is worse...so is ASR (Please we are not talking about BARun here!!!!! he is brillant no doubt on that!!!!)

when we say ASR is wrong it means the way he is characterized is wrong..exactly the way you feel when Khushi is wrong!!!!!!

What he did was totally senseless

and well you have accepted you are one sided...so peace... but then my answer all such posts which asks is Khushi is wrong she should were Kangans or neck wears (as if its that important!!!) is just what you said...she is as right as ASR is...if ASR is flawed because of CVs and you re ok...we ok with flawed Khushi...why perfection only for the female versions!!!!

Actually i read another post which says Khushi has more Dimaag than Arnav so true!!! At least she questions him!!!!!! as for her not questioning her family or Raizada its more because Arnv is the reason all that happened...

and SJ i love you for this wonderful post!!!!

Superb and the discussion here esp your with link regarding Domestic violence and what Somzz and said Sudha (i hope i got the name rights) are all wonderful!!!!

Even i agree that Sanaya should praised for her brilliant acting and crying river just for ASR and because we are women makes no sense...and sometimes its posted with such double entrodenoes like "i am normal girl so my linking a guy and supporting all his actions is justified"...I dunno about other but what they are trying to imply is real sad...so girls should like and craze about only males characters and actors to the end that even frown form him they ready to cry for him and a annoying look from him on the lead actress they ready to slay her...

I still know how me and my sister were relieved when during Sangeet Arnav was impressed and laughed instead of being annoyed with Khushi on her performance had he been angry i am sure everyone would have hated that dance and never appreciated it!!!!! Like they did with Desi girl... their reaction are mostly mere reflections of what ARNAV wants or are based on his reactions almost as if he is their fantasy husband and disobeying him even here is bad!!!!

lol!!!

here i rant off...i better stop here!!!!!

I too like the idea but we must make sure it won't be detrimental to the continuation of the show.
We need to make women aware of what they are seeing and stop the glorification of dometic violence. But we don't want the chanel to pull the plug or make the PH face legal charges.
Im going to be selfish here and say I don't want the show to end. And it would be worse if we were forced to watch silly comedy to pacify the protesters.
I'd be happy if we can get the message across to them that we are not appreciating what we see in the show right now.
