Khushi stopped at the bottom of the stairs and took a moment to calm herself down. This was her first date ever and Abhi had spent the afternoon showing her movie clips of dates on YouTube which had been funny at first until she'd realised most of them ended with the couple kissing or worse!

Arnav sat up on the bed immediately regretting shouting at his sister and he got off his bed reluctantly. "Di, I'm sorry" he started but when he opened the door he saw his brother and sister had already gone. He wanted to just close the door again and go back to his solitude but he knew he had to apologise.

'Chote! Get up! Tell me what happened with Khushiji? Payal says she's in the guest room sleeping. Is it true? Did you find her? Did you bring her back? I knew you'd find her! I've been telling you for so many years, all you had to do was look for her and she'd come back.'

Arnav sat up and rubbed his eyes, he had hardly slept the whole night and was in no mood to discuss Khushi's return with his sister.

Day 14

Preview:

Khushi woke up to the soothing sound of raindrops in the garden falling onto the pool. She looked over to find Arnav still missing from his space and leapt out of bed to check the swimming pool. Her forehead creased in confusion as she realised he wasn't there and she looked back over her shoulder to see his phone and watch still on top of the dresser where he'd left them last night so he obviously hadn't gone to work.

She left the room and wandered through the silent hallways as sunlight began to filter through the windows almost lighting the path towards her husband.

Arnav woke up feeling happier than he had in months. His eyes instantly went to Khushi who was curled up on her side of the bed with the majority of the blanket wrapped around her. He smiled at the sight before slowly prising some of it away from her to cover himself up to his waist as he sat up and watched her sleep. He wanted to pull her closer, wrap his arms around her again and stay like that forever but the dark shadows underneath her eyes stopped him. He didn't want to risk waking her by touching her.

Chapter 27

Preview:

Arnav smiled to himself as he heard her voice on the other end of the line. He'd been busy all week and longing to hear her voice but he'd forced himself to wait, wanted her to call him. Desperation was never good and it would have showed weakness if he'd called her that same night as he'd wanted to do. He'd promised himself to wait until the following Monday to call her again but by the time Friday came around he couldn't stop himself any more.
