Well, I know it's not realistic and all, but I still think it's just another art form that's developed over the ages. 😊 It's not just television, classic movies have been using the dupatta like this, too. Granted, nowadays, they don't show the dupatta draped all over. I'd like to see what percentage of today's youth wears it like that, anyway.

And I don't know, but I wear really modest clothes, and when I do wear an Indian dress, I wear a dupatta so it just covers my neck. And if it slips down or something, I DO feel conscious, because the presence of that cloth itself makes a difference. It doesn't matter if I'm being revealed or not, I just feel strange. So I guess they're aiming for that awkward feeling. 😳

And as for why Khushi fumbles with her dupatta...it's the director's way of showing her uneasiness and awareness of him. In fact, ever since they first met and he physically threatened her, she doesn't like going close to him. I think it's cute and romantic in it's own way. It's part of the package. *shrug* And frankly, when I compare it to other so called romance shows where I live (U.S.A.), I'd rather watch a guy's face be slapped by a dupatta while the heroine shies away, than two people making out the first time they meet. Call me conservative. 😆

Jerk he has such a nice wife and he goes and flirts with others.. Which reminds me.. I need to post my prediction and analysis on the situation

all i can say is just watch 3 idiots movie scene where Aamir asks kareena (sorry i forgot the characters names 😆)
did you feel the hawa and duppatta udne laga 🤣 when she met her mangethar 😆
and she says this is not a film 🤣 and later in the movie when she falls in love with aamir thats exactlay happens 😉

that somes up dear , duppatta , hawa are traditionally used
to convey the meaning of the feeling between the couple in love
or going to fall in love 😳

now coming back to the saree of Kushi and blah
yes saree is never a dress which covers the whole body
but i felt that the blah's saree was more out of place where as kushis was just in place ,was there any pallu in blah's saree 😆
when you go to temple though your dress should be sober enough
and blahs was not and you can see that in the face of Ar and anjali 🤣

i luv ur topic.
Hm basically i think dupatta is a wide clothing to cover the necessary parts of the body but now in the modern world dupatta is such a narrow one..its just a patta to just keep on the neck...and when it flows away they panic like anything..
In the old days ...women used the dupatta to cover their upper half body..frm head to the chest...u must hav seen sme old people wearing dupatta on their heads too...if their dupatta flows..its right to panic and behave coz the part they wer hiding is seen to others.
But todays generation they hav forgotten half of it and just panicking as if they had been covering their whole body.
And abt the sari...even i dnt understand anything.
U r right...LA sari was same as khushi...only her shoulders wer showing off...other than tht everything was similar to khushi...even the back and the stomach.
Yaa they gave her sme designer saree and her pallu was tied in a different way.
Actually frm the beginning LA was shown as negative so whtever she does we take tht in a negative way...and we knw tht whtever khushi does it will be postive so we take her in a positive way...only thts the difference.

Perfect ! 🤣

It's tradition !

Ye Sab Karna Padta he ! 🤣 And, no one wears dupatta to cover their assets or Laaj or Sharam or anything, anyways ! 🤣

Me too love this topic and another thing which no one has ever mentioned but why only heroine fall from stairs or from anything ? Why can't hero fall from anywhere ? And why only she get unconscious when she is on fast ? 😕 Why not anyone else ? 😉 And from when and how hero comes on time to catch her in his arms ? 🤣🤣🤣

The hero gets to romance The Dupatta more than the girl...Most of the time, due to Newton's Law of Gravity The Dupatta as soon as it sees the hero goes towards the hero's face and caresses it. Some heroes even carry pieces of dupatta on their car mirrors, it is used in emergency accidents as First Aid...the list goes on and on...The Indian TV follows the simple business rule: Buy 1 heroine and get 1 Dupatta free...

Dupatta ki Jai ho👍🏼
Talking abt La's saree as I already said in some other post, it looked less like a saree more like a curtain from ASR's house...😉

lol... love it... The multipurpose dupatta!!

dupatta is a woman's security blanket...i miss it if it is not there.. feels weird somehow.. yes.. i fell uncovered... if the dress came with it, I wore it and it slipped off..
I wear all sorts of clothes.. so not particularly traditional..

also..think abt it..
we wear dupatta in many ways.. I like the scarf/accessory comparison
looped front
looped back
looped around with one end dangling front and other back

wear it on our heads at the mandir
little kids will at times sneak to wipe their nose on it.. ( my nephew did!)

It is a multipurpose garment..
scenes would not be the same without it..

Hello everyone this is Neha,
I am writing this post because is it just me or you guys too think about it. See khushi wears her duppatta in her neck and same is the case geet but I dont get the part that they act as if they are in full sharm and haya where as logically speaking the duppatta is just a dori hanging in their neck and when the air blows and duppatta falls on the hero they simply make a big "Uncomfortable moment" Jab kay they are not even using the duppata to cover.

totally agree wid u , mostly the objectiv of duppta is to only wave over the face of hero or something lik tht to impress hero but actual objectiv doesnt sem any where, nd u r right its just lik a dori , nd in most shows it sam alwys

I also want to bring up the topic of Saree if you observe what Khushi is wearing as a saree-- We think that is sober cloth but again logically speaking it is not covering her stomach and the blouse is kindoff backless if we ignore the thin strip. We kind off get what khushi is doing as good because they play the sweet music at the back and again we will think that LA is kinda vampish because bg music was demanding, or she is wearing a designer saree and has the same thing not covering her stomach may be not covering the shoulders too but again its one of a kind saree. If the same thing was worn was Khushi we will be like " Khushi looks beautiful" etc.,

here again i will b agree wid u saree is indian s national dress but the way it is wear in the shows is totally opposite instead of covering boday it some thing lik appealing(see LA s saree) , though khushi was quite better but still belly nd back totally uncoverd
Neways I actually wanted to know what is your view on the clothing used in these Televisions or should I say the concept that they associate with clothing like feeling shy or ... in the television shows.

a very well written post neha , mostly ppls dont lik to write on such topics mean they just see how the lead roles r going to impress nd in this they forget what they r waering hav some objectiv,
