I agree with what you are saying about falling for physical attraction not character at least initially...My hope is that in IPKKND it develops into something more than that. Although physical attraction has to be a part of it IMO love means more than that..😊
However, I do not agree with your purist view of being either Indian or Western...Can't comment on Nvya or any other Indian TV serial as I don't watch anything else...but through out the history of time "Clothing" and interpretation of it has evolved over time...I do not expect it to be frozen to an interpretation at any given time ...and I don't want to hold it against some one who does not take that purist point of view...For me bottom line is what is looking obscene and what is not...scarf around the neck or flying to hero's face (in this case Arnav's) was beautiful and as far from obscene or unacceptable as I can define...
In any case... these are things where there is no one correct interpretation...just many different ones...So different people will draw the line differently ...thats all...😊

Why should we be purely western or purely Indian . Fusion of western Jeans and Indian Kurti - is one of the most comfortable type of dress ever.
And western clothes are not always revealing - in fact proper western business dress is more modest than Indian dresses.
If i go shopping for saree , I would always pick the sari La was wearing than the one Khushi wore.

You people are talking about The Dupatta!!😒 The Dupatta is a very sacred piece of cloth in the Indian Television Industry used (read misused) for gainful (read ungainful) purposes...Jis hero peh ye giri, socho us bichare ke bure din shuru ho gaye. The hero gets to romance The Dupatta more than the girl...Most of the time, due to Newton's Law of Gravity The Dupatta as soon as it sees the hero goes towards the hero's face and caresses it. Some heroes even carry pieces of dupatta on their car mirrors, it is used in emergency accidents as First Aid...the list goes on and on...The Indian TV follows the simple business rule: Buy 1 heroine and get 1 Dupatta free...

Dupatta ki Jai ho👍🏼
Talking abt La's saree as I already said in some other post, it looked less like a saree more like a curtain from ASR's house...😉

@TM
Yeah I know, the dupatta doesn't even cover up the necessities and then when it flies away the heroine is fully trying to cover herself like she's naked or something...and I'm just like🤪
Lavanya didn't look good in that sari, and plus, it wasn't appropriate for the mandir. I wouldn't like it if Khushi wore that red backless sari to the mandir, either...but then probably I wouldn't notice LOL..like someone said, its psychological to justify the good character and to point out every little bad thing in the evil one
@Pallo
ROFL..ASR is allergic to clothes..OMG🤣..and mini asthma attack🤣

I so agree with you.
I have noticed this thing from such a long time but never really made a topic about it. The dupatta is usually worn to keep a girl's body covered and is a sign of respect and honour. Girls/heroines in our shows wear the dupattas(which are actually a thin long piece of rope) on their neck which doesn't even cover anything. It's just a prop used to show the girl as highly shareef. And what's with the dupatta falling on the guy? If my dupatta actually falls on a guy's face in the market, i won't have an awkward eye-lock with him. Rather i'll apologize and take it hurriedly to avoid embarrasment.
Ok coming to the saree issue, i somewhat agree. You see the saree is a dress in which the stomach is usually bare so i won't blame the CVs for this. But the dupatta's really irk me now.
Sorry, it's quite a long reply but your post was amazing, i must say!😊

Hey kashish here.. Finally a topic I can write heaps on.. If it comes to serials, I have honours in them. I have watched serials since I was 4 or something. And since you have asked such a important question, I shall try my best to answer.. so it starts..
Kahaani duppatte duppatte ki...
Every single serial that to some extent has the main lead wearing duppatta has various scenes 1.duppatta gets stuck to the plant, bracelet, car door, tree, bedside lamp, sofa ...etc.
2. duppatta rips or kurta rips because of the lead trying stop the other lead from running away to manao, and he uses it to cover her.
3. gundas/ thugs try to misbehave and take the duppatta away and then the lead saves her and covers her up with the duppatta
4. the lead gets hurt really badly and the other lead rips her duppatta and covers his wounds..
5. duppatta goes on the guys face
6. The lead walks in while the other lead is getting ready without a duppatta and thus the lead takes the duppatta, comes near her and puts it on...
and list goes on.. so basically the duppatta brings the two leads together. This story started many many years ago and got further with Kis Desh Main Hai Mera Dil where the duppatta was actually longer than a saree, I guess and another milestone in their journey was Dill Mill Gayye where Armaan touched teh duppatta more than actual Ridhimma and now it continues with every other serial becoming tradition..
I frankly love the duppatta and while being a prop, it still manages to make the scene awesome. Imagine all the scenes without a duppatta and imagine all those scenes just didnt exist. Just like imagine if teh lead wasnt clumsy all time and falling.. serials would be soo boring then.. so this a post dedicated to duppattas and the awesome job they are doing...😃😃😃
Ok I should stop and since I have already given you a light answer, I might as well becom e serious.. A duppatta isnt just a piece of clothing but it symbolises a girl's respect.. Go back years or even look at the rajasthan now, the duppatta is used to cover heads as a sign of respect. Despite how much a duppatta covers, Its a girl's dignity, her respect, her modesty. Thats why when it is taken away or it falls off, I girl gets conscious..In Indian society a girls respect and character is immensly valued and important thus the duppatta symbolising all that, is important. I hope you get my POV..
Now the saree. Showing of teh stomach is something that cant helped. If you wear a saree in a certain way, like La wore, it will show unless, like I do, you pin all of it up, but It might ruin the shape. Another way would be to wear it like Payal wore it. So it depends on where ur going. Like Khushi wore it different it to the mandir. What distinguishes La and K is their blouses. A vamp is always shown in a sleeveless or no sleeve blouse but the lead has sleeves. plus La saree was more appropriate for a party not a mandir and the blouse was not fitted well at all. Also you shouldnt wear white in Teej.. It should be red. Anyways I hope I helped. The post has gone way too long. sorry guys. Thanks for reading😊😊😃😃
