I suppose it's a rhetorical question in some ways. I'm still trying to figure out the answer myself.
For most of the episode Anika was fighting to not give in to a shaadi like this...then she was in a zombie state while the rituals were completed...but something changed in her the moment the last ritual of sindoor was completed...suddenly she started looking at Shivaay differently and boy did that moment grate on me.
Frankly it's way too demeaning as a woman to watch someone getting FEELS out of shaadi rituals with a man who just put her through all this...blind glorification for TRPs aside, that was a pretty low moment.
That moment seemed to change Anika and suddenly she came back to life and started viewing him as her husband...you could see the shift in her eyes only...after everything he did, simply cuz he put a sindoor/MS on her, nothing else mattered but that he was now her husband. Wow.
Then I paused for a moment and reflected...what are they really trying to show here? Is it just simply obvious regressiveness to appeal to TRP junta who feels shaadi ho gayi toh pati parmeshwar? Or is there something more to this?
Was that moment supposed to show that the moment Shivaay bound her to him, SHE would then become the one to fight for their relationship? Cuz that is what shifted dramatically there...it's like something got activated from slumber, a light went on inside Anika and she was looking at him differently...why? Because the very next moment he walked away and totally negated the very existence of the shaadi...but she instead started fighting for it ACTIVELY...I'm gonna try and keep her mega cringe-inducing sindoor/MS gawaah hai lines aside for a while and try to focus on the essence of what was happening...she was fighting tooth and nail for their relationship there despite all the ugliness simply cuz he bound her to him.
Is this the spin here on? Cuz many ppl complained in the past few days that Anika doesn't seem invested in Shivaay in this redux and he's the only one impacted by her marrying someone else...lol well lo and behold now she's fully dived headlong into mutinously claiming a right on him through marriage...and ironically he's the instrument for it.
It's all so twisted that it's hard to sort through and IB isn't meant to leave you with such an ugly feeling inside while watching it, is it? So if I'm getting this right...Shivaay was driven to marry her through a twisted set of emotions driving him...revenge for Priyanka and not wanting her to marry Nikhil...and now that he's married her, he'll be the one turning away but now she will be the one chasing him instead...and that is supposed to prove Awasthi wrong ki no matter what the circumstances, one or the other will keep fighting for them to be bound together😕😆
I will say though that this Anika doesn't automatically become "strong" simply for demanding the rights of a wife from him as he married her...he still took the choice away from her so suddenly "fighting" for the label of a wife won't make her strong...if she was really strong, her life wouldn't hinge on the label of a wife alone...just to prove that she's not his mistress, she doesn't need to prove herself his wife...she should actually be making him pay for his sins...but I guess this is on another track with HS ke different interpretations of "strength".
Again, I don't see this as a sustainable strategy to show Anika running desperately after him to get him to claim her his wife for whatever reason...even if the ultimate goal is to show that she's fighting for their relationship in the face of Awasthi's web, it's a tough sell for Anika's character.
