Part 2-
Omkara's POV-
Three days had passed, yet still I kept checking my phone, it was as if my life depended upon her contacting me, it was an unnerving feeling, something I wasnt familar with and I struggled to understand what about her had caught me up.
I wasnt sure if it was the way her eyes lit up like the brightest star as she smiled at me or the innocence around her that seemed so pure, something the people around me lacked
I couldn't focus on anything infront of me, be it my work or just simple tasks, so I decided to just venture out, in hopes I would see her again.
It was early hours of the morning when I decided to go for a jog, I doubted she would be awake but atleast my mind could be occupied with something other than thoughts of the stranger who invaded every part of my life without even being around

Gauri took in a deep breath as she stepped outside into the misty morning air, her hair hung back highly in a ponytail and she closed her eyes tightly as the cold breeze hit her, she needed to increase her fitness incase anyone ever came looking for her again.
She ran forward at a slow pace, her ponytail swaying from side to side as she ran when her eyes darted across the road at the man who eyed her up. Adrenaline kicked in and she fastened her pace, not looking at the newspaper someone had dropped on the floor, her right foot swung back as her body jolted forward and she grasped tightly the person infront of her, her small fingers wrapping around his biceps
Omkara looked down at Gauri, her face stuffed into his chest, she slowly pulled away and let his arms go, her eyes gleaming with recognition. "Hi" she breathed, he couldnt help the coy smile that made its way to his lips as he looked down at her
She looked warily behind her then back up at him
"I was hoping I would see you again" his voice was low, calming her racing heart
"Oh, did I do something to your car or"
He laughed, shaking his head "No, I wanted to invite you out sometime"
Gauri's face dropped visibly making Omkara step back
"Shit, I didnt even think to ask, are you in a relationship"?
Gauri raised her brow at his use of language then shook her head
He smiled, scratching the back of his neck, why was he nervous? He was never nervous, he couldnt afford to be in his line of work, but he was, all because of her.
"So, would you like to, go out, with me"
Gauri really didnt want to be rude and say no, but her life wasnt safe and she didnt want to endanger anyone else
"I just, dont think im really ready for a relationship as such and I wouldnt want to lead you on, and im sure someone like you could find someone easily"
He smirked "Ill take that as you think im good looking" he paused watching her cheeks flush red "But, wont you come out just as friends"
She sighed heavily, it didnt seem like he was going to give up anytime soon
"I just dont really have that kind of time in my life" she replied, stepping away
"Please" again, he wasnt sure why he didnt just give up, he wasnt one to beg, but it seemed around her everything was different, out of the ordinary
She turned on her heel walking away, then turned back around again "Arent you coming"
Omkara looked up again and pointed to himself, which made her giggle
"Breakfast, your treat"
And like he had nothing better to do, he followed her happily, no longer bothered about how she had managed to change his mood so quickly

Gauri's POV-
"So, tell me about yourself" I looked up at the man before me, he seemed so interested in me which set off alarm bells, but there was something kind about him that made me feel calmer
"Theres not a lot to say" I looked down, there was something so nerve wracking about keeping eye contact with him
He leaned back in the chair, his hand resting on the table "There must be something, why did you move to New York"
I flinched, it was the question I was hoping to avoid, "Uh, I needed a change, have you always lived here"?
He seemed to notice the rapid change of conversation, but I was glad he didnt make a point of dwelling on it
"Born and raised in India, I moved here about seven to eight years ago, why wont you look at me"?
My eyes widened and I looked up at him slowly "Eye contact makes me nervous" further proving my point, I stretched out my hand and without realising knocked his drink all over him

"Im so sorry" Gauri stood up, rushing over to him she patted his t-shirt with tissue
"I said this wasnt a good idea, im so sorry"
Omkara wrapped his hand around her good wrist and stood up, pulling her up with him
"I think this means you owe me something for this"
She gulped and looked away, to many times she had met people who had used her to their advantage and here she was again in the exact same predicament
He leaned closer, his breath tickling her neck "Will you allow me to take you out to dinner tomorrow"
Her brows furrowed as she looked up at him, that was it?
"You're not mad"
He shook his head "Not even slighly, but I am a business man and know how to bargain"
"Then if youre that good of a business man, you should know when something is not good for you"
"I can see you are not easily swayed, so let me add something else to this"
Gauri looked up, intrigued by what he could do to make her go to dinner with him
"Im assuming because youre new here, you need money right, a job"
She nodded
"One dinner, I will pay you to spend time with me, if you dont like it, you may leave at any point"
"You want to pay me to spend time with me" she guffawed, it was true an arrangment like this would be safer, because a normal job would mean she was easier to find, but she had no interest in taking advantage of someone like this
He nodded "Just dinner, once a week if agreeable"
"But, why, why go to all this effort just to spend some time with me, you dont even know who I am"
"Im a lonely man, I dont get much company"
She nodded slowly "I need some time to think" with that she walked away
Omkara watched her leave and smiled "But I want to know you" he whispered
