SHORT TWO

This behaviour has become the usual routine for her since past days. Everytime she asked Om to tell her anything, what he only did was just skip the topic, send her somewhere or the worst; not at all talk to her. At first she felt that he must need his personal space, but the things happening now were just out of her understanding. Every time she tries to get the things right or help him... t turns out to be ignorance to her.

"Gauri... Gauri... Dadiji shouted. "Jii, dadiji Gauri ran to her wiping her unshread tears. "Gauri... call the maids and make sure the puja room is cleaned before the evening puja. And yes, I don't want any mess there she instructed. "Yes, Dadiji... I will Gauri answered and went to the kitchen to find the maids. "Shanti... Kamla...Kanta... she called the maids but there was no answer.

"What happen Gauri? You needed something Pinky asked her. "Aaah... no choti maaji... I was just calling the maids she answered. "But beta the maids are not here today... they were given an off yesterday itself. Annika didn't tell you Pinky asked with a surprise. "No, choti maa... Infact she came to me in the morning. Bhujayee nein toh hume tab bhi kuch nahi bataya she shrugged.

"Actually bachcha, Shivaay, Annika, Omkara and Rudra said that they needed only the family to be there in the house, so that is why they gave an off to the maids Pinky told her. "But, when? she ased. "Yesterday when we were at the dinner table Pinky answered. "Okay bachcha, I think I should leave saying this Pinky left the kitchen.

She was in the kitchen, preparing the desert for the family. Nobody called her. Was she not to be informed about the happenings in the house? Not even about maids? They didn't even call her for the discussion. Was she not family?

Thoughts covered her mind when she heard Dadiji calling her again. She rudhed to her "Ji, Dadiji she said. "Gauri, why has the work not started? the tone had anger in it. "Dadiji voh... she was speaking when Dadiji cuts her off "I told you I needed it to be cleaned till the puja her tone was harsh. "The maids are not at work she answered. "Then you do it. You anyways do it in the morning right... So just do it now too she ordered. "But Dadiji I... Gauri tried to tell her that she had fever but "I just want it to be cleaned so that Shivaay and Annika could do the arti. Mere bachche bohot takleefon se guzre hain. Today I will pray to God to save my grandsons and my bahu from any other problem saying this she went to her room.

Controlling her tears to her best way she went to the puja room and started working up the mess created during the hawan. Since the working staff was at leave, she had to even pick up the hawan kund by herself. Since all people were out except of Pinky and Dadiji... she had to do everything by herself. Sighing she started moping the floor and cleaned up the mess.

She went to pick up the hawan kund holding it carefully but unfortunately she dropped it and one of the half burned log fell on her hand. "Aaahhh she cried, but there was no one to hear. She immediately went to the kitchen and washed it with the running water and ran to the puja room and cleared the stuff and made everything ready for the puja.

Why was she doing it? was the question she asked herself every time. Even when she knew that there will be no one to even accept the fact that she has done something for the house she still did it. There was no logical reason for this except the only thing that she loved Omkara and everything related to him even more than her life.

"Dil boley Oberoi the fantastic four' hooted out. It was just an hour before, when they came with the proofs against Sumya and Veer proving that they were the people because of whom the Oberoi's suffered so much. They told everyone that Sumya was one of the three Kapoor sister and all of the things going on were just a drama.

"Mujhe pata tha mere bachche iss pariwaar ko zaroor bacha lenge Daadiji said cupping Annika's face. "Mere AnniShivOmRu iss parivaar ki dhal hain she looked at the Fantastic Four' in awe. The family was enjoying, hugging and talking o each other while she was just standing near the pillar watching Dadiji taking ballaiyaan of the Fantastic Four'. "To hiss baat pe ek family picture hug toh banta hain Gauri started getting her feet toward the hall when she saw Rudra hugging everyone. Nobody called her so she decided to leave them enjoying their family time and started off to the kitchen for making Prasad. "Gauri... you are making Prasad right. Take care of the sugar, you know how diet conscious is Shivaay Annika entered. "Okay she said. For once she felt to ask Annika about the maids but she decided against it.

The whole family gathered in the puja hall when Dadiji called Annika and Shivaay to do the arti. The couple seemed to be happy as they did the arti and looked at each other. Everybody was happy and Gauri decided to not to tell anybody about her hand as it only will spoil their moods.

"Gauri, bachcha come on, join Omkara. After all you both are husband and wife Pinky asked Gauri as she joined him. She joined her right hand to his while doing the arti. Suddenly she felt her hand paining at the burned area. "Aaah she cried as she pulled her hands. "Gauri... what sre you doing? Omkara asked in an irritated tone. "Omkaraji voh... he cuts her off "Oh come on Gauri... bachchi nahi ho tum he said in the same tone.

"Voh humara haath... "Gauri, if you had some problem then you must not have joined us Shivaay spoke. "Haan Gauri, Shivvay is right, you must have stayed in your room Annika supported. "Bhaujayee, I don't have any problem... it's just... "Not again Gauri... go to the room Omkara sid in a commanding tone. "Omkaraji... she had tears "Go he said turning towards his family as she ran to her room... trying to control her tears.

It was night and she went to the kitchen to bring the ice water for him. While returning to the room she heard them talking. "I am happy that we are back Shivaay Omkara said keeping his hand on Shivaay's shoulder. "I too am very happy, I have both my brothers Rudra said gathering them in a hug. She smiled and decided to go when she heard Shivaay "Omkara, What has happened to Gauri?. She held her feet back for the answer. "I don't know Shivaay. These days she is behaving strange. Pata nahi kha dhyaan hai uska he said in a much familiar tone, irritation.

"Then you should talk to her. Om, tum dono ko apni chemistry sudharni chahiye Shivaay answered. "What do you mean? Omkara frowned. "I mean spend some time with her he answered. "Okay, if you say so Omkara sighed.

She should be happy that finally Omkara was will give her some time, but rather she felt a strange feeling. She felt irritated. She would have entered the place but she was too tired to even speak. What will she talk about? There was no one who would listen to her thoughts or even wanted her opinions. Even her own husband was giving her time only because Shivaay said so. Who will she fight to when her words didn't even matter?

She went inside the room and kept the glass on the side table as she heard Omkara coming in the room. He wrapped his arms around her waist "Gauri he said in a soft tone. There was no feeling of the spark she used to witness before. In fact her anger and irritation multiplied. She released herself from his arms "where are you going? he asked. "I am going to sleep. The ice water is kept there in case you want it she said walking to her side of the bed.

He held her arms "what happened? his tone was still soft but firm. "Nothing.. I am just sleepy she answered. "No, you are not. Don't give me excuses Gauri his volume increased. "What is your problem huh? I am watching you since morning. You have a different attitude altogether his tone had taunt in it.

This was it for her. She was not at all a prostitute who was here to please Mr Omkara Singh Oberoi, whenever he wanted. She was not a maid who was here to do all the work for Oberoi's and just stand and see all of them picking out one or the other mistakes. She was Gauri, the one who loved this man and all she wanted was respect in return.

"I am giving attitude she spoke. "Who didn't tell me about this ehole Veer and Sumaya fiasco? Who was ignoring me like plague since past two days? Who shouted on me just because a glass of water fell on a file? Who mocked me in front of the whole family? You, it was you Omkaraji. You didn't even care to ask me once about how I was she said in a loud voice.

"Gauri, it was important for me to hide. I could not tell anybody he said the same irritated tone. "Anybody? I am anybody Omkaraji... I thought I am your wife... but today I knew... I am just an anybody she said with a humourless chuckle. "Gauri... don't act childish. I told you that it was important to hide he said in the similar tone. "I thought you trusted me enough to tell me everything... I trusted you to be with mw whenever I was in pain... but today you proved me that I was wrong... you broke my trust Omkaraji her voice sounded cold.
