I would much prefer the story to go the way you described than what is going around in my head right now.
I can't get over the dread that Pinky will kidnap Shivaay and plant Mahi in the mandap.
Many reasons that will not happen and will not be justifiable
1.The marriage cannot be held legal even if she does because Shivika are technically a married couple renewing their vows. Even the media knows that they are not divorced and Shivvay is doing this to give Annika the wedding she truly deserves.
2.Mahi might not agree as he hates Pinky and does have affections for Shivvay and Annika. Only Kamini has some kind of hold on him.
3. Shivvay will come back even if it is at a later time and then what. I cannot even imagine what havoc he will cause and the scene he will create not to mention the show down with his mother, who will be the only one he will suspect of doing such a thing.
4.SR with Mahi is impossible because (a) the man will not touch Annika. He has principles about his limits with another man's wife and we saw that he risked his life for Shivvay and (b) Annika feels the difference between Mahi and Shivvay and now that she knows there are the two of them she will go with her gut feeling for sure.

You see, Gul has this strange compulsion for getting her FL married to the ML's brother. I would rather watch a vanvas track for eternity than any MahiKa BS.
Both times the girls were not already married to the ML's so that was possible to do and the plot was completely different. Here I find it will be a little difficult to pull off and hold. Mahi marrying Annika is of no use if she is not a divorced woman. No court of law will hold that marriage as legal

But then I fear logic and IB cannot be said in the same breath so I will keep my fingers crossed as well ...lol

OMG you spoke my mind, I penned down similar points on twitter. For me the third challenge was a hint towards future which is Vanvaas. I noticed that during biwi declaration Shivaay said Annika ka dil dukha to SSO se bura koi nahin hoga n this time he said Annika par vaar karna matlab Shivaay par vaar karna. After Pinky's OMM Shivaay has reiterated many times that if Annika is with him he can handle anything. That's also a way of getting rid of her insecurities n making Annika clear about her importance in his life. When they came back Dadi said this was for you realize each other's value. Then came the biggest turning point of love confession. Shivaay I felt after separation had become little insecure about his importance in her life. Pre separation he used to take her for granted sometimes and thought she'll not go anywhere but now he's scared of losing her, so his insecurities were addressed by Annika confesssing her love first. Even if he hasn't given her three magical words yet but still she's very confident that he loves her and will take ages to tell her. Annika isn't insecure about her importance in his life. Then yesterday's episode was a give away for me that Shivaay will leave house because of Pinky. He told her that if you don't go then It'll go. Woh to jaane se rahi OM se so he'll leave. Shakti told Pinky a bitter truth that everyone respected her only because she is SSO's mom n which she doesn't like much. She craves to get the importance and respect as herself n not as his mom only. Part of it is her problem with Annika.ShivOmRu Dadi Jaanvi Shakti love n respect Annika for her own identity as a person. So right now Pinky is like a raging bull who will definitely attack again but in a more nasty way. She'll have no regrets in trying to get rid of Annika just like Mrs Kapoor had planned on Lohri. Annika's NDE might happen because of Pinky. This is one possibility. The other possibility is that I feel Shivaay still hasn't gone through the test of fire for his love. Annika's wish was that she wants to be number one in Some1's life. Pinky might help achieve that. Pinky will put her in a spot where he'll have to choose between family n his wife n this time he'll chose his wife. Remember Daksh said when it was time for you to choose between your wife n sister shockingly you chose your wife, something similar might happen here but in a larger scale. HS has a way of visiting old scenes n closing the loop, so before separation he chose his family n threw his wife out, but this time he'll choose his wife and he'll be so fed up with all this nonsense that he'll walk away. That'll be the final OMM of Pinky.
Rudy will be the one to accompany his bhaiyya as he's truly his Bhabhi's lakshman devar. So, Rudy is given the challenge of being responsible n work hard. Also, remember Annika said humari jagah ko bharne ke liye koi to chahiye na about Om Gauri n that was a give away for me that they'll temporarily replace Shivika in OM. So even if these episodes look like fillers or fun loving but they have a lot of stuff going on n laying the foundations for future big tracks.
Shivika are a unit now, stronger than before so no question of separation again n separation would dilute the purpose of reunion n grand media proposal. But for sure lots of drama is coming up n Shivika wedding will happen but we'll be kept hanging till last minute, atleast that's what my experience says from watching four lions show. Even Arnav Khushi had similar situation.
