Gul cannot decide on a path. But this is her creative baby and okay, she can do what she wants with it. All we are asking for is not showing us things which are clearly wrong and then justify them. That is all.

As for the Shivika essence, I think any relationship, be it Shivika or Rumya or Om-whoever should be based on mutual respect and love and trust. Not abuse. Even if it is verbal or mental or physical. That is all.

When people say "it's fiction", what they're implying is that fiction has no impact on our mentality, when it clearly does, hence the "at least he didn't go so far as raping" sentiment. I honestly cannot believe that anyone would say that. I've also seen a comment that "at least he threw her on a clean bedsheet". In what world does that make it okay to violate another human being?

Finally, I'm not one to shove my "opinion" down another person's throat. But when it comes to facts and giving people a reality check, I will when the alternative is to allow people to remain in their own bubble where abuse in a relationship is excusable as long as the people are in love. This only perpetuates the idea, and that is dangerous.

Seeing the discussion above, I'm genuinely worried that if one of you (God forbid) has abuse staring you in the face, you will misinterpret it as "passionate love".

My 'friends' and I (though I don't know a single one of them) wont stop educating people or 'advocating' as you say, just because you personally are taking a guarantee that there will be no ill effects from this mentality. Because that is the first step. Educating people.

You know, there is a reason there are literary critics and theories all over the world trying to study poetry and fiction. They study them from Marxist perspective or a feminist perspective. Because literature of any age is a mirror to the society of that age. So, no. This isn't just fiction. But hey, what do I know? I am just a silly girl advocating here.
