This is what is missing in all Indian serials and now in IKRS
Ikrs had a very good start but dont know where it changed, everything changed in Nick of time

Now TRPs are villians for this show and the makers don't know how to get the show into original track.

Thanks for ur reply Sura.
IKRS started off so beautifully , continued on such a positive theme but got lost somewhere somehow
What baffles me is why this TrP audience craves for such drama.
Anyways will continue watching for our super star Mishal.

Adhi, thanks for replying.
Yes the villains usually lose in the end. Infact their planning only brought our good leads closer.
But the fact is why Dhani's character is not growing stronger.
What about Dadi, no one respects her
To add to all of this we have an even stronger _ve Bua.
That's my question-- where is the balance?

There are many positive areas where the cv's can explore, they can show the character growth...but they are merely reduced to mute spectators nowadays...dadi, these days even viplav, dhani...I miss the ashram days so much there was so much to learn from them, the positive vibes in the ashram felt really good.

It's not just about the protagonists and antagonists all the time but with the supporting cast the show becomes much more interesting.

I wish they show dadi viplav dhani's bonding, rl and the ashram ladies it would balance the show well...instead of focusing on bua and kamini all the way.Keep making more posts dear...till then take care.

Oh thanks Pearl for ur reply. I am glad too I finally made a post. Have to admit was a bit nervous.
So many good writers on the forum. Probably my inspiration too.

Anyway, agree with you . Too much negativity is a turnoff for me also.
You know, TV is such a strong medium, which can be used effectively to send positive messages
Even thru' fictional shows.
Sadly though, our show is following the same path as others & lost its originality for whatever reason.

You said it right, along with +ve & _ve, we need a good supporting cast & needs to be used effectively.
I also would love to see more of Viplav - Dadi bonding.
Don't know, are Cvs listening??
Thanks for all ur support, will try posting more.

Actually wat they are showing is pretty illogical too bt that's how indian tv wrking lately..
Still I believe ths imbalance was somewat less in ikrs frm vry start..
Viplov used to counteract negative forces quite effectively... bt it seems no growth frm Dhani side at all...
Actually ths 'negative winning small battles against positive' bring in lots of frustration in viewer n frustration brings ratings.. but the outcome is always positive winning over evil with growth of protagonists. .. Dhani's growth is stagnant in ths story n I feel ths track will bring a lil improvement in her character sketch.. I hope..
Plz do write more dear.. 😳

Hi Nusi,
Thanks for replying dear
Yes , IKRS was difft. from many other shows. That's what got me interested & hooked to the show
Viplav was & is the only strong positive . Dhani has so much room to grow, but it's just stalled.
But they had bring in more _ves which is Ok if countered by other +ves
As you said, hope this track shows some growth for Dhani & the other good supporting characters as well..
Just have to wait & watch

Nus, thx for ur encouragement. Certainly will try.

Mishfan congrats on your first post that too a good .

I will keep it short but my take on characterization is that All characters have flaws including Vip and Dhani . A strong character can be good or bad depending on the conviction they have in them . A good Dhani is string when it comes in being righteous and she will stand up but she is week at answering back say Kanak hence she suffers .

Vip too is strong in the fact the he stands up and fights but week when it comes to handle anything emotional .

Kanak string at fighting for what she believes in but week as a mother when it comes to Biplav .

My point , it is shown that good is meek and evil is powerful only to emphasize who is good at what and who is not .

I hope I am making sense.

The thing is that this is the trend that is been following since so many years...N nobody wants to put a stopover on this. ..THERE has to be hundreds of negative around one positive...!

Like for example..
Daddi being shown as a positive character doesnt leave any impact being the meek n submissive woman...its more of her bahu dominating n illtreating her n same goes for her hubby!
So there is no balance inshort if u view it this way...Its more of the good characters have to suffer ...!!Positivity cant be achieved at the helm of negativity...thats my point...U need to balance the two aspects properly likewise even if Daddi is mouthed by her hubby but she should know how to shut kts mouth!!Illtreatment by her hubby doesnt mean she should consider tolerating KTS behaviour too...

According to me quality matters the most than the quantity...

Hey Mehr,
Thanks for replying.
That's what is bothersome, this has been going on & on with little change. why????
We as an audience want something better than this!

You know Mehr, that's one aspect in the show which has bothered me the most-- VIP loves his Dadi , they share a good rapport. But never once has VIP stood up & voiced his support for her. Never spoken against his mother disrespecting her. Why?
That is not correct. This is the imbalance I brought up.
Anyway, all we can do is discuss .
I agree too that Quality takes precedence over quantity

Thank you for ur thoughts

Hey Premparbat,
Thanks so much for replying & your encouraging words.
I draw inspiration from so many of you good writers, here in the forum.

I think I get your point being both +ve & _ve characters have their strengths & weakness, right.
But Becoz the bad are shown to outperform the good most of the time, it seems like there is an imbalance.
That's an interesting way to look at it

Thank you for your viewpoint .
Enjoy reading your thoughtful ( quality) posts though few in no.

Hi mishfan,
Commenting for the first time on ur post,n its a very interesting one.
Good vs evil, this is d main theme of each n every serial.
We get to know d true value of good ,only when evil persists in d surroundings.it doesnt matter if d good is outnumbered by d evil,
It only matters who wins in d end.
In our show d evil never got a victory, how many times they have tried to seperate our fav jodi?but never became successful.its a good thing about our show.
Keep posting on such thought provoking posts.

hi Mishfan... well done for this pertinent post.. you point out well the two known character types covered in fiction...Fiction as in all art is supposed to be an imitation of life. Within chracterisations there are those characters too that fall inbetween of the two prototypes and are thus classified as grey characters.Personally , I prefer grey shades in characterisations as to me they seems more realistic as opposed to the straight jacket good or bad roles.
Now with regards to the positive characters in Ishq being given less coverage and hype than the negative ones.. that's correct as its the demand of the entertaiment world.. the audience is trained to watch , negativity ,conspiracy, suspence, heartbreak and disappointments.. all these elements create frustrations and in turn forces us to stay tuned to the shows to learn about the final out come of disruption ,disputes and revenge..Although we expect a happy ending where rightiousness wins in the end. On a daily basis no story is credible if it is evil free.. for in the real world, good and evil reside side by side.. A idyllic, all good and perfect serial would be heaven .. and not really a mirror of our life that we can relate to.. this is true about life that not always justice happens.. the wicked prosper while the good suffer... if that happens ,like in Ishq.. our universal appeal, idenfitication, sympathy grows for the virtous characters of the serial..But its true the cvs do need to have a good balance between the positive and negative characters as glaring imbalance between the two can have an adverse effect on veiwership.. meanwhile lets continue to watch the show till the end to find out the outcome eventually.. as for your post mishfan excellent post.. hoping to some more discussion posts from you .. much love hammie
