IKRS 9th October 2015 ep 53 My Take.
There goes a saying, a calm before a storm. The episode has snippets of a lull but not without a feeling of some flare up.The seeping element of an imminent doom, prompted not by hearsay or premonition but backed by information through reliable sources. Instances of vigil, heightened security, veiled threat disguise, substitution!
Storm in tea cup.. understandable, Dulari goes into great tension when she learns Dhani hasn't returned from her outside jaunts, this time the mandir. Given her daughter's track record of whenever she leaves home, she usually returns after getting herself in a pickle!
Dulari uses a mother's prerogative and bad mouths, low expectations of her daughter! as such residents of the Ashram have mixed views about Dhani's usual lateness of returning home late. Dhani returns and brings the news that she stood up to Phool Chandin the temple! as of now she is free to go where she wants! This calming news for Dhani is received as nothing short of tempestuous news for Dulari. But then there is one who celebrates Dhani's emotional tranquillity.. steadfast and strong Inderani who applauds Dhani's tremendous valour in upholding a woman's self- respect by challenging the likes of Phool Chand.Dulari in comparison to Inderani is the upright woman who lacks the courage to stand up forcibly to proclaim her rights..in fact she dissuades Dhani and prefer that her daughter conform to the rules of society. Inderani wants to know what motivated Dhani to take such a stormy move? Dhani thinks of Viplav..
Viplav's resounding celebration of Dhani's victory! shares traditional sweetmeats with the rest of his new family.. it's interesting to note he sails at the moment when Dhani may have given him the credit for being Mr.Motivator! .. but Viplav cleverly spins Dhani's reply to Inderani answer and instead sings Dhani's praises and elevates her image. Sweetly he offers her a ladoo too.. which she declines calmly.. as she may be fasting? Notice their now exists a quiet, rather tedious calm between Dhani and Viplav.. I wonder if this is the calm that stills the soul after one meets one soulmate?
Lulled disguised threat returns.. Tulsi returns and Viplav riddles her with questions and clearly takes the winds out of her sails! she lies through Viplav's questions of who she was chatting to on the phone? she is already on Viplav's radar screen for being shady. The storm that brews behind closed doors.. Once in the room, Tulsi gets down to the execution of her organized crime; route precision of a foul planning, exact time keeping , awareness of surrounding security, putting in place contingency plan ,and most important of setting up decoys.
The clatter of storm, to distract..tulsi is interrupted by Dhani , who comes to offer her arti.. part of her fake replacement jewellery slips out of her bundle.. and this time too, she drops the arti plate made of metal! like she dropped the metal cup on the floor previously.. she chooses metal for the impact and noise it creates to divert attention..from her motive to steal a precious metal gold! To achieve her motives she sweet talks Dhani yet again. Dhani gets trapped in the fowlers snare!.. never fear the gods have their own instruments.. Viplav's camera! that snaps a kiss and hug of betrayal between the righteous and the unrighteous! Dhani and Tulsi!.. possibly some captured evidence!
Build up to the tumult! Dashrant leaves his house in sanctimonious splendour to step into the eye of the brewing up storm. He leaves his wife in charge of the peace within his house while he takes care of the high winds rising against him outside the house! talks of enhanced up security around the mandirs!
Disguised threat, rolls.. limps, drags, towards the targeted destination... Tulsi disguised as a local janitor really comes to cleans up the farcical security questionings by surveillance staff..and shows the mastery of her mind and hands.. executes her plan slowly and systematically.. using decoys to expedite the act of swapping the real with the fake!.
Dashrant arrives at mandir brushes past Dhani and still within his evil mind rejects the wicks made by her to taper the mandir divas.. bids the pandit to use Dashrant's household tapers!
The innocent too are used in this organized dastardly heist..In fact Dhani too as a decoy contributes to facilitating the crime...The complete scene where Tulsi lands up in the mandir is sacrilegious in the eyes of a believer but as a brilliant feat of mental agility that gives birth to stealing from the house of god. Tulsi's motive is cutthroat and purpose driven, to get her hands on the gold.. inside she leers, greedily at the precious metal and outside her planted decoys give her the time and opportunity to fulfil her mission. The whole reason been the theft is still a cause for concern for us viewers ..as we ask why is she doing this??only for greed? or some other dangerous purpose to cause maximum damage to human lives.. I sincerely hope not.. it will smell foul to me then. However if this robbery moves the track to Dhani being wrongfully accused and Viplav fighting her case to let her off the hook..now that would sounds more acceptable to me as a viewer..
Disguised threat to life..Tulsi's acting of cooking dinner and lacing it with sleeping pills.. to lull all into a slumber.. to accelerate part two of her act.. i.e to harm.. is a contrast with the act of flower garland making, mala.. an offering made to one who is held high in devotion.. Dhani is seen holding a garland, that Viplav attempts to make , she takes his garland and hers, knots them to what looks like a varmala she holds it before himm ..
Viplav threading the eye of the needle is like solving the strange personality of Tulsi and her ways..
The episode alarmed me at one point .. when the mandir closes for lunch.. shortly after that, Dhani is the only one to be seen before the locked mandir . waiting to be paid by the pandit.. will she be a suspect in the crime?
