IKRS 26th August 2014 Episode 15 My Take

Dashrant seen as a classic example of a man in the throes of middle age crisis . Some men are forever young at heart. There resides in them a firm non acceptance of, a loss in their virility or masculinity.. I would say a testosterone issue. Upon seeing the petal fresh youthful beauty Dhani.. he is transported into grand delusions of youthfulness! The spraying of the armpits.. a yearning to have closer contact with her.. and along with the money a fragile rose too, as a compliment to her fragrant fragile beauty.. I wonder is that why Viplav is the apple of his eye , because he sees his own self careless youthfulness in the boys looks and behaviour? All said and done.. Dashrant's behaviour does invoke a bit of humour in me..Also makes me think.. did he chose a beautiful daughter in law for being his very own eye candy?? A gross thought.. but then with this Dashrant anything is possible..

Nick of time Kanak 's arrival.. a witch or an angel?? Her entry salvages this foreign young widow in the cloisters of her house.. She is quick to spot two negatives within the girl, one being inauspicious and two being youthful and beautiful. Dashrant ensures all witness of what he is about to do are off his preying ground.. the servants are sent off on errands!

Kanak's banter at Dhani is justified as she will question any stranger who walks into her house.. she calls Dhani a thief! yes she sees this young widow as one who can rob her position, her favour in Dashrant's eyes off her! The smashing of glass , can be considered good luck! that some evil has been warded off!.. here it's Dhani who is probably saved from Dashrant's evil claws! Kanak's caustic remarks to Dhani regarding her carriage of her white sari are all damning her piety.. she is referred to one who is ready to put her virtue at stake! Misuse Dashrant's magnanimity and strip him of his money like a woman of the night!! Her words to Dhani , that under the support of this pious white sari.. you come here to entice her saintly father in law.. so you can milk money out of him. To me thus comes some clarity into kanak's role too.. she is aware of Dashrant's keen eye for young women.. after all this was the knack she uses to win, affection, attention, and acclaim in this house.. be a delectable feast for her father in laws eye! in finding this girl in the house.. kanak holds the wrong end of the stick ,totally! Her own corrupt thoughts quite easily makes her see similar corruption in Dhani too..

Well she in no uncertain way shows Dhani who is in charge of the house.. Viplav's wallet in her hand that she waves in Dhani's face.. shows kanak is the one who controls the assets of this house.. they are in her hand! Dhani is compared to a banana skin, which once the fruit is eaten is flung away as useless and inedible! But the peel causes accidents as there are ones who slip on it..and fall flat onto their face! ..under the pretext of widowhood, Dhani is taught to ensnare simple good nature people! however kanak is successful in kicking Dhani out of her house! Dhani runs across the broke glass and her lacerated feet leave bloody foot prints across the hall.. the foot prints are ones that lead outwards rather than inwards .. symbol of the auspicious arrival of a new bride!

Her feet move out of the house.. and Viplav's walks towards the house, she bumps against him and spins! he spots her ,recognizes her, and calls out for her.. but watches her leave through the slightly ajar gates.. Viplav's faces a puzzle why was she here?he sees the outward facing bloody footprints!

Chameleon! The place is riddled with them..

Blood or vermillion? what an irony plus mention of the word .. hurt.. kanak blatantly lies of helping the girl .. but when Viplav leaves she changes her colours like the chameleon when he tells her she was the girl from the widows shelter.. gets the filth of Dhani's bloody foot prints cleaned off..

Triparari .. like Kanak and Dashrant.. another one who blends in with every mood and situation.. covers up for Dashrant

The logic of Dhani's broken sandals and her run across the streets to Dashrant's house now makes sense as it will seem to swarna and the rest of the ashram.. that the lacerated feet are the result of bare feet running..

A mother's premonition.. dulari at the court.. waits with Baddi amma for the money to arrive. Dhani arrives home.. locks herself to save her spectacle . she tells her traumatic tale.. of being called an unvirtuous.. thus comes Badi Amma's tirade against not men, but women! who degrade women! .. she consoles Dhani that the cruel mistress who maligned her,is unaware that four fingers point at her too.. a world where a woman abuses another woman.. due to women like the mistress cruel name calling continues where widow is called prostitute.. wives turned out of their households called prostitutes.. badi amma gives a chilling home truth. till the time when a woman degrades another woman doesn't cease.. atrocities against women will forever go on.. almost like a curse she says, such women one day come under their own iniquities! From dulari comes an admittance, we went on face value of pandit ji .. he seemed a good man, offered his assistance in times of our need..that's why Dhani was sent.. upset mother asks for forgiveness from her daughter.. but Dhani still worries for funds.. the widows case is left in the lurch.. help is at hand!

Dhani's wounds are cleansed, it's traces are left in Viplav's house, he did notice them.. but fell prey to his mothers, chameleon nature .. Dhani as I expected never said why her feet bled?? Viplav arrives at Delhi. We get to meet this Tania girl.. who triggers off FBs of the hurt on his forehead.. his protecting her.. and his last brush past with the woman in white.. but why was she in such a state. he wonders??? Fate unknowingly brings them together again.. thousands of miles apart...

Very nice take, and yes, your picture of Dasharath (I love that you call him Dash-rant!) as an older man preying upon (instead of just praying, as his profession demands) younger women to overcome his identity crisis is right on.

Dhani's bloodied footprints leave the house rather than enter it --a bad omen for a house that does not value women. Women are the form of Goddess Lakshmi herself, and in today's episode, Lakshmi, as it were, exited the house, unable to bear the dishonor meted out to women. A prophecy, perhaps, which was heightened by Indrani's curse to Kanak. Interestingly, the name Kanak means gold, the embodiment of Goddess Lakshmi. "May she herself undergo tribulation and disrepute" said the elder Indrani. Perhaps in the plot, happiness, health, joy, abundance and prosperity, all embodying Goddess Lakshmi are threatened as the karmic consequences of Dhani's dishonor.

Things might reach a situation, where only the proper entry of Dhani's vermilion soaked feet, as the bride of the house has the power to right the wrongs. Let us watch how all this comes about.

I absolutely loved this episode. We don't need just love scenes of ViDha. serious issues like how women themselves don't understand what another woman is going through. Badi Amma's dialogs were bang on.
Kanak calling the blood sindoor and then Dhani's mum applying haldi on Dhani's feet. both items are considered auspicious!

Again, the writer has cleverly chosen a good girl as Viplav's girlfriend, someone who we won't hate bcoz she is bad but bcoz she could be a hurdle 😆
Loved how all her words were taking him back to Dhani. And the precap was just

Now the epi seems incomplete if I haven't read your post on it.

Good analysis Hamie.
Last episode has a twist which I didn't expect..and I have to say that our cvs are really unpredictible. Coz I thought Viplav won't go to Delhi after seeing Dhani running out of his house crying. The romantic woman in me felt disappointed. And I hated that girl friend.

But precap was promising. Loved ViDha's phone interaction. That was funny. I hope this scene will be shown in today's episode. I can't tolerate another episode with little screen space for Mishal.

I agree with you Hamie ..episode belonged to Kanak and Dhani. I felt Dhani's pain..but loved Kanak for what she did. This will make Dhani stay away of Dashrath next time.
