thanks Minaxi.. very apt article to post . its a mixed issue of age concern and longevity.. now I suspect younger widows may have a chance to find shelter in some home.. depends on the status she is given.. its sad , how basic human rights stand violated..
Also like members have pointed out theses widows are abandoned due to financial implications ..share in inheritance issues..
appalling.. these are vulnerable members of society , that slip through the net. I wonder if there is an offical body monitoring for their care.. or is only down to the benevolent, charitable bodies to provide for their basic needs?
but yes very moving substance..

omg guys seriously i have zero idea about all these things happening in north india..and i felt like they are still practicing untouchability and yeah they do have their own values and believes but to this extent its really very shocking yaar..people really need to change their views on all these but many old people just stick to the old values rather than accepting the new changes thats the main problem...

Thanks mnx, interesting i have seen something a long while back, but did not sit through the whole programme. This is life it's not always the way it should be but hope it will change in future ,no way to treat anyone like that for any reason whatsoever, even if things are exaggerated 98% and true for 2% still needs to be treated equally.

Woah...I had no idea things were still this bad...

But I have to say, even then this concept can be shown with more NUANCE than the show is currently showing...instead of having the characters give fiery speeches or docile pravachans about their lives as widows, it should all be unfolded in terms of narrative and characterization.

Thanks for posting this. I wanted to make a post on this subject 😊

I initially thought it was a bit OTT the way they Vidhwa concept was being handled. But, Googling brought up so many similar articles.. It is the sad state of affairs.

It's a good idea to be narrative, can give a better pov. May be they need a different PH with a different perspective to give such treatment. After a pt such pravachans gets boring.

I honestly find the show to be VERY LAZILY written...all of the EASIEST cliches at their disposal have been put in...and the dialogues are even more indicative of just how lazy the writing is and zero thought has been put into layering the narrative...everyone talks in a projected manner mouthing inane lines that make them seem artificial in nature.

I am not against showing social issues no matter how depressing they may be but what ticks me off is ppl using the issues simply for the sob effect by putting in "Haaye main abla naari" type of dialogues without setting up basis for the characters.

Only thing holding this a bit together right now is the acting from the cast...otherwise the level of cliched unpredictability is just😕

I am writing a ff where the lead character is a widow in another forum. Through my research I found out about this place. It is really heart wrenching. To strip away a person's hope, joy... Society has forced them to lead barren lives :(

I agree, nothing seems real till now. All are trying hard to convey their character.
Sob stories, female lead crying, unhappy, are a must for trp. More suffering for female lead ensures more viewers.
Lets see how long this formula works or may be they are waiting for viewers to get used to of their style of presenting the story.
