a much much needed post 👏
thanks dear 🤗

most of us stay at places which are moving according to the developments...we live in that atmosphere...away from the real reality...so when we are made to look into these aspects, it looks very fictional to us...but all that is actually a mirror of the happenings in a world away from us...such reality checks are much needed..

Its difficult to accept such facts, since most of us are brought up, are living in an open society up to certain extent. All these women staying in aashram, must be from surrounding villages & towns of Varanasi & Vrindavan. That means a lot of efforts are required to change the mindset of people to stop such custom of sending a widow to live in an aashram for her entire life.

exactly...much efforts are needed...
when we are having places where the widows are made to marry again, such cases do hurt a lot...
specially because they are being punished for no fault...in the name of god...which religion's god can allow this?

I can see where they are coming from. Widows living in Varanasi are mostly those women who have been shunned by their families and have nowhere to go and have no other way to earn a living in a dignified manner. Problem is they havent established this properly.

It's Humans who interpret things for their own advantage. Earlier some of these women must have willing come to live in these religious places with the idea of spending rest of their life praying to God. Later on this must have taken the turn of send widows to aashram by their own family.
I have seen this during current time. A wealthy family of 2 brothers, where elder brother had no child & yunger brother had 4 children. Elder bro died at the age of 60. Instead off giving his share to his wife, this bro got all the property on his name & send the old widow to their native place.
Education & financial independence can save them to spend rest of their life respectably.

Its a sad scenario. Throughout her life a woman spends her time in tending to various needs of her family. She deserves a respectable life in their absence. Education & financial independance can change the situation.
