You mention her not having any exposure to freedom but I am still wondering why that would be the case. I mean I feel like I just don't know enough about her to be able to say k this is why she is how she is. All I know is that she is this way, why she is this way and if it's justified is something I really cannot say. But just seeing as how this show is based in the 21st century and how she wasn't born a widow, I am assuming that at SOME point in her life prior to now she must have had access to the modern world and its amenities.. Must have gotten some education.. Or some exposure to life outside of the vidwa-ashram.. And if that is the case, I just find it hard to relate to her willingly giving up her ability to think for herself and living a nonexistent life, all because that is what the "samaaj" expects of her. At least in this regards Raj Lakshmi seems more REAL to me because even if she is being asked to live this life, you see her questioning it and using her 21st century ka logic and brain. That is more believable to me that Dhani. Unfortunately.

But that being said, I honestly didn't expect much from Dhani's character yet.. I always figured that this is how she'll be, it was just intuition. 😆

I am sure she is educated, but sometimes life experiences negate education... Life experiences have a tendency to break people... We find so many highly qualified people Following a set of thinking just because something has been happening in a certain way in front of them for years together! people are conditioned to behave in a certain way right from birth. Education may or may not impact this conditioning... It totally depends on the persons circumstances. So many highly educated girls with good jobs leave everything and become simple housewives in orthodox families ( just giving an examol) their world only revolves around family and they follow all the norms of an orthodox family. There education takes a back seat, circumstances and conditioning comes into play.

Raj Lakshmi on one hand is questioning the social conditioning. She wants to break free from it all. Its not an easy thing but she has the courage to do so... Dhani on the other hand is unable to do so on her own at the moment, she has resigned to her fate.

Plus the story will end in two episodes if Dhani comes out strong and rebellious in the first episode its self! 😆

I honestly am not sure what the purpose was of that scene and comment. I guess it could be because he falls in love with a woman who isn't "pure" but I figured that he'd have enough to reconcile with anyways once he fell for Dhani without adding the "pure nahi hai" taboo to the mix. Personally for me, it wasn't NEEDED. But now that it has been mentioned, then it is what it is. I'll just try to make peace with it.

I can even see why his comments about his girlfriend were added to the scene - to show how nonchalant a guy Viplav is.. I just didn't like when he compared his girlfriend to his would-be-wife and then set "purity" as a standard to determine who he would marry. Just seemed shallow. But then again, I guess that's what his character is at the moment - just a shallow, entitled, spoilt guy with no practical sense of reality or the world outside his self-made universe in Banaras.

This unfortunately is the scenario of modern India.. A boy may sleep with number of girls but when he marries he wants a virgin wife... Though the thought processes are changing, the change is very slow.

Fivr , if u had no grand expectations from this show ...I had no expectations, what so ever ... The promos showed an ill mannered vagabond , the dialogues were of an obsessed person " mein tumhe manta hu " and " mein tu apna ban kar "...An ever crying girl , a rude arrogant priest , a story that seems to be of the bygone days but dragged to the present day ...

The situation with widows maybe bad ...but that not the case with everyone of them ...This also gives ppl a wrg impression abt us ...
I have never been to Baneras ...But I dbt it is what is being shown in the show ...

Abt Characters ...Viplav is so irritating, 24 really ...nd to top that a Lawyer ...
1)What I did like was why do ppl like say India this India That ... Or America is so good and nice ...nd go gaga over it ...Do not they realize ... It we who mk the country ..If we calling India names ...it is ur fault ...nd ppl who intend to leave their country after calling their country names ...r good as traitors ...is infuriating
2) WTH is pure and untouched ...what his gonna ask for a test to be done ...such a MCP ...nd what is he ..????????? how pure or untouched he is ...can be understood by telephonic call ...
3) nd Who is he ...that he should ask or snaps his fingers and world follows ...ridiculous
Such guys should be told off ... I cannot stand such nuisance

Dhani ...She reading off a book ... giving her gyan , no spunk ...no life nd so predictable ...Not even a fight
unlike Raj Laxmi

We Indians are first degree hypocrite! Eg: a relative of mine who has lived in America for 6 years and come back is now unable to live in India.. Calls it dirty, always compares life here and there and can't wait to go back.. This person threw garbage out of the cars window in front of me! Will he do the same thing in America?? I asked him! He just laughed... America is clean he said.. I told him America deserves you..

Love all the analysis going on here! 👏👏
All of you made such great points!

Dhani for now, is pretty one dimensional as a character, as has been already said. However, maybe it's too soon to judge her and she will surprise us in the future. I definitely wanna see her as a normal 20-year old and not a 'vidhwa' during her interactions with Viplav. Her slef-imposed dharma should take a backseat while interacting with him after a few days.

As for Viplav, he is a whimsical and impulsive guy. IMO, once he sees something he wants, he goes after it no matter the consequences. I also like that Viplav's love will not be superficial, like 'falling for the young, beautiful widow', but will rather grow out of increased interaction with and a look into Dhani's mind.

Hey Fivr! I am surprised to see you here! This is kshreya2002 btw.
I was expecting worse based on the promos...but the show wasnt as bad as I expected. Lots of cliches and all that with Mishal's character totally cliched and so was Dhani's. Dunno what made Mishal choose this show when similar characters are in every show. Plus who discriminates against widows these days anyways?
But what piqued my interest was the dynamics between Dadaji and Dadiji. The character of the Dadaji was especially intriguing from his treatment of his wife to his attitude in general.

Exactly ...we r the ppl that mk it dirty ...Then say India is this and that ...
Ppl who give up on their own country and degrade it ... r actually of no country ...
Tommo if something happens in their adopted country or for some reason they see a benefit in India ...Then conveniently turn Indians

Every actor wants to be in Bollywood: Mishal Raheja

TV actor Mishal Raheja says every actor has a dream of appearing on the big screen, but television is no less with its "own charm and importance" and a wider reach.

TV actor Mishal Raheja says every actor has a dream of appearing on the big screen, but television is no less with its "own charm and importance" and a wider reach.

"Every actor wants to be in Bollywood. But I think both have their own charm and their own importance. The only difference in Bollywood is that you shoot for a film for one month and then jump out of the character, while in TV you have to play a character for long," Mishal told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

"Television's reach is way more than films, unless you are doing a film with superstar likeSalman Khan... then your reach is great," he added.

Mishal made a mark on the small screen with his intense act as a loverboy in serial "Love Story". He then went on to leave an impact with the role of a goon with a golden heart act in "Laagi Tujhse Lagan". Mishal has also delved into the fantasy genre with the show "Maharakshak: Aryan".

He is back with his charm and intensity on TV through a new love saga "Ishq Ka Rang Safed".

Set against the backdrop of culturally rich Banaras, "Ishq Ka Rang Safed", aired on Colors channel, narrates the story of how a youth Viplav falls for a widow Dhani and how society reacts to it.

Mishal says Viplav may come across as a carefree person at first, but the role has a lot of layers to it.

"The initial part of Viplav is very light and fun. He is a carefree person, who is having lots of fun in life with his friends. I picked the role as I thought I will get something different to do. Then he falls in love and gets all intense and serious," he said.[/quote]
