I didn't really have any grand expectations from the show based on the promo content so I am kind of surprised that I am not entirely put off yet. But there were a lot of things that irked me during the episode - A LOT. And I am hoping that's only the CVs way of setting up a basic "normal environment" that can then be changed and rebelled against with the progression of the show.

It definitely is nice to see MR on screen again after a long hiatus but I just wish his character didn't annoy the living day lights out of me. I know he is supposed to be a spoilt entitled brat who just turned 24 years old but that's exactly the kind of people that make me roll my eyes in frustration. You're 24 years old, not 2 years old. Thori toh responsibility aur samajh dikhao yaar! Viplav's approach to women in general definitely put me off. His desire to have a "pure wife" (whatever that means.. like seriously, WHAT does that even mean... -_-) and then him diving after some random girl and expecting her to entertain his questions and comments simply because he is "Viplav Tripathi" is a bit much. I get it's the character and all, but this character irritated the living day lights out of me.. This will be a long road to redemption (assuming he'll change into a mature/sensible man as the show progresses), if at all.. *sigh*

Dhaani's character seems pretty one dimensional at this point and I really didn't expect much from her. She did and said exactly as I'd thought she would - and I agree with nothing she did/said. The scared, walking-on-egg-shells approach in public and the incessant "this is what we are supposed to do and how we can live as widows" gyaan is exactly what I saw coming a mile away. Even her lecture directed at MR was just so... expected. So it just is what is it.. I'm neither impressed nor put off by her. I'm just indifferent.

The rest of the characters are predictable in their reactions - the rich, powerful grandfather who will be the biggest antagonist in this story, check; the meek grandma to provide a softer face to the hero's family, check; the widowed mom who keeps her daughter bound in perpetual fear and restrictions, check. The ONLY character I found sane and loved in this episode was Raj Lakshmi. Finally someone who talks sense and actually ACTS/REACTS like a normal person! I have high hopes from her.

Over all it was a decent first episode.. If nothing else it kept me busy for 30 minutes. Lets see what tomorrow brings..

nice one šŸ‘šŸ¼
well i only differ at a point...about viplav's characterization..but before that, m not a mishal fan...watching him the first time...
well i felt the character was justified in his acts as we all know its of a rich spoilt brat...this only is what a rich spoilt brat is...carefree..doing anything without even thinking for it even for a second...like u said jumping in river to just stalk a girl with his question...its nothing more but the undue power he feels owing to the so called reputation of his family in the society...any guy who feels the power is like this only..feels the whole world is the puppet in their hands...and yes, for that untouched criteria šŸ˜†..well it was something usual..everyone want a virgin girl 😳

but yes agree to u on dhani...m watching this show for her but then her repetitive gyaan and similar dialogues were irritating to me too at a point..i do prefer someone bigda hua over much ideal...

and definitely kudos to rajyalakshmi šŸ‘ ...she is proving out to be the only senseful person in the show šŸ˜›...willing to break out the stupid norms of the society which are punishing them without their fault...she was real refreshing and a treat to watch...enjoyed her...lot of potential in this character...

but what kept me hooked to the episode was viplav-dhani...i don't know if its only me, but i felt a spark in their chemistry...i loved it...

@bold: Oh I agree that he was supposed to be the rich, spoilt, entitled brat.. I'm just saying that I do not like rich, spoilt, entitled brats.. šŸ˜† MR played the role to a T, made me believe in the self centered approach that Viplav has. I'm just saying that I dislike guys like Viplav, guys who have done nothing, know nothing and have accomplished nothing to support the air of attitude and entitlement that they flaunt.

And that is just what I feel after the first episode. Maybe as episodes go by, we'll see more layers to Viplav (and he'll redeem himself). But at the moment, were this guy to come in front of me in real life, I'd roll my eyes and walk away from him. He has nothing that appeals to my sensibilities. šŸ˜†

@ Fivr ... agree to the things you pointed out ... even I was put off with Viplav's "pure woman comment but I guess it will be interesting to see how he battles with himself and others for Dhani who isn't technically "pure" ...

And though I would've loved to see more layered characters in Viplav and Dhani, them being one dimensional at the moment works for me because it just means that both of them have a lot to of work to do to build up their characters ... whether they do that on their own or with each other's help is yet to see ... but we've of lots of time for that

Coming to Raj Lakshmi, I feel her character is going to be one of the most important ones besides the leads and their family ... she has the potential to be the catalyst that will ignite the change in Dhani's view about restarting her life and also future cupid between Viplav and Dhani

Hi FIVR,
you are here as well, hope you remember me.
swear upon all those dutta bhau posts that you made, I have not seen any show to the fullest since laagi tujse lagan.
by reading the EPi the character kinda pissed me off just a bit, he is seems to be full of brat wala masti type of boy. lets see how it progresses.
by the way it is a pleasure to see you here. videos are not being posted. where do you watch yours? colors is not registered in my zone. do you know where is the best online site to watch.
thanks yaar.

@yoyo2: Of course I remember you! It's nice to see you too. =)

It's been a while since LTL ended. Hopefully you can find another show to watch! And as far as this episode goes, I'm going with the "no where to go but up" mantra! It can only get better.. Lol..

FIVRAYšŸ¤— First JHAPPIS cuz I'm getting such funny deja vu of posting in your LTL threadsšŸ˜†

Look at us after all this time in a NEW MR forum...hahaha

I watched the epi mainly cuz DAMN THE MAN for his screen presence even now :P

Damned if he still doesn't make me grin like a fool over his voice, his sheer PRESENCE and his smilešŸ˜†...yes even in a role that is the total ANTI-THESIS of Dutta and any kind of suaveness.

Ek toh can I just say that him REPEATING like a 100 times that he's "24" is NOT going to make it believablešŸ˜†...Kisi angle se 24 nahin lagta...he's just NOT a BOY...he's a MAN...but it's strictly his charisma that carries through even a mainly one-dimensional bratty character...only that lends some gravity to the proceedings.

The epi mainly felt like a cliches 101 book with dialogues that even Baba Adam ke zamaane mein nahin sune honge...dunno which century ka Benaras they are trying to depict...I mean sure they are trying to showcase the different POVs within that widow aashram but sadly a lot of it is coming across as preachy speeches without substance.

It's very hard to buy a contemporary setting for this storyline...I recently watched the Deepa Mehta film water which was based on the plight of widows too but that was set in the 1940s...pre independence India and it worked better.

This is just feeling dated and unrealistic material.

Agree with each and every word of your review..Since it was just 1st episode I m ignoring few things here and there. I m pretty impressed with lead girl. She has that innocence needed for the character. Mishal toh Mishal hai...Kya Khena..!!
