O yes I saw this video yesterday. Jammy's take on this was very good. I was very young when the Bengali version of this show was aired. I don't remember much watching it, but I knew the opening title track of the show. My grandmothers were so invested in this show.

My mother used to watch Imlie and GHKKPM but stopped watching because of how problematic it was. Malini was such a good Character but the show was in the name of Imlie, so they had to do Bechari Imlie and vamp Malini. Aditya being the "man", gets out of any problem. In ghum, I think everyone just wake up and tick their to-do list of belittling Sai.

I also saw one comment of IPZN and other shows about how they have good storyline and plot but they have to be changed in between because of trp and Indian audiences are fed so much with these problematic plots that they can't enjoy good shows.

The young minds are filled with these lies and problems and it's been from the ages. If change has to be brought, it would be very difficult. Not impossible but very difficult.

I've never followed the Bengali originals of any of the popular shows (except for the Sasural Genda Phool one I think🤔) but some of my family members lived and breathed these shows😆 so I kinda sorta know about the plots and stuff. It's surprising how these managed to stay popular for so long and way more strange how Star Plus, being one of leading channels (not a regional network like Star Jalsha) is okay promoting such themes on their platforms😳

I honestly kept wondering for many years how one could possibly have such a choti 😆 Anika in Ishqbaaaz also had that for a disguise over several episodes and it made my eyes hurt😳

I honestly don't know how people handle such negativity and toxicity in TV shows. I'd assume that at least the viewers in the older age bracket would be much more concerned because they are supposed to understand the implications these shows have on real life relationships, ideals and thought process as they have more to draw from. Like every time a desi show gets too negative and regressive, my mom promptly shows herself out😆 I'm not sure how such shows manage to get raving ratings in 2021😳

Was it you asking about ITV shows a few pages back? There's nothing like IPZN atm😆 but you can try the Mehndi Hai show on star. I've watched it since the beginning--it has some typical ITV tropes and the drama can get ott at times but I like the execution and editing (which was a big issue for me in post-diu IPZN episodes) and the fact that their casting is quite original (Telugu guy playing a Telugu character and so on). I just watch it for the pair tbh😆

Pretty much sums up my childhood, sans the tiffin box and flames.

We had another game, where we'd write the names with love between the two names, Ishqi loves Ahaan, then scratch out the letters and write out how many of each letter is there. Add them up till one gets a 2 digit number that'd represent the percentage one loves the other! We done this in class, my friends were calculating mine and my former crush's name, the teacher almost got us!😆

And even tho the iced lollies or what we'd call Apple Munch was present with us till our matric year in 2019, 2020 onwards feels like a new era. A completely new era. I mean till the end of 2019 we had been buying Apple munch and ice lollies from the lady outside our school, we'd tear the plastic with our teeth without bothering to even rinse the packet. And enjoy carefree without the fear of getting infected! While now I feel so bad for the current school-going kids!😭

I remember how crazy we'd go for those pencil boxes and the pencils! Anytime a friend used to get either of the two, we'd get so excited as if they've won the lottery.😆
