Though a home game is not new for the Mumbai fans, there will be some tough battles to conquer this time.

Mumbai Indians are set to welcome their arch rivals at home after a gap of 3 years.

The 12th game of the IPL will be played at the Wankhede Stadium today 7:30 pm onwards.

Mumbai Indians lost their first game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, while CSK have one win and a loss in their first two games.

The fans will be dying to see the two giants who share 9 IPL titles between them return at Wankhede.

CSK returned strong against Lucknow Super Giants after losing the first game against the Gujrat Titans.

Ruturaj Gaikwad hit his second half-century (57), followed by some brief cameos by Devon Conway (47), Shivam Dubey (27), Ambati Rayudu (27) and fan’s favorite MS Dhoni (12 off 3).

Defending 218, CSK suffered a scare at the beginning after seeing Kyle Myres scoring at 240.91. Moeen Ali turned the tables towards the Yellow army by taking 4 wickets. CSK won the game by 12 runs.

In recent games, MI have a slight edge over CSK with 3 wins in the 5 games.

All wins have come while chasing the target. In the last meeting between these two, MI bowled out CSK for 97.

Tilak Verma and Tim David reached the target in the 15th over of the game. This was revenge by MI against the final ball CSK won in the last season, chasing 155.

A crazy stat: Suryakumar Yadav has a formidable record against CSK at Wankhede. Surya has scored 102 runs against the visitors in two games he played here.

As for the match, Mumbai Indians have been dominant against CSK at the home ground and overall in the league too, head to head, but they need their bowlers to stop a rampaging Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has hit the ground running this season.

His batting on Saturday night could be one of the factors that could determine the outcome of the game, although neither team is short of star power and quality players.

Chennai Super Kings Preview

Chennai will open with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Ruturaj is currently the orange cap holder with 149 runs (2 half-centuries). Conway also showed his abilities in the second game by scoring 47 runs. The duo had a partnership of 110 runs. The pair will be difficult for MI to handle. CSK is known to make random changes with the number three position. Sending Shivam Dubey at number three in the second game proved right as he hit 27 off 16 balls to keep the run rate going. Against MI, they might send Ambati Raidu, who has a great record against his former team.

CSK’s middle order is filled with world-class T20 all-rounders. Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, and Ravindra Jadeja will be the key for CSK to reach the playoffs. Moeen Ali took 4 wickets with the ball against LSG. His wickets turned the game scenario in favor of Chennai. He also has a half-century against Mumbai Indians. He will be the batter to look out for along with Ruturaj.

CSK’s bowling unit is clearly not up to the mark. Deepak Chahar is still struggling after coming from a career-ending injury. Rajvardhan Hangrgekar took 4 wickets in the first game but couldn’t do much with the ball in the second. And worst of all, CSK’s impact player, Tushar Deshpande, has given over 10 runs in two games. WIth the turning Wankhede pitch, CSK spinners can create a difficult situation for MI.

MI preview--

Meredith has played for MI last season, taking 8 wickets in as many games at an economy of 8.42. He can be a great support to Jofra Archer. In the first game, MI played an international impact player, but it forced them to use only three foreign players in the first innings. Hopefully, they will divert from this strategy as Dewald Brewis and Tristan Stubbs await in the dugout.

MI’s batting lineup is pretty destructive. Kishan and Sharma will open the innings for MI unless Sharma takes a role like Dhoni in the middle order and send Dewald Bewis to open. Tilak Verma smashed 84 runs in the first game in just 46 deliveries.

Tim David will be the preferred power hitter in the middle order. David has a strike rate of over 160 in various T20 leagues played across the world. MI’s big problem is the lack of experienced all-rounders. They played Hritik Shoukeen in the first game, and it didn’t work out in their favor. Shams Mulani, who had a great Ranji record playing for Mumbai, can come in for Shoukeen.
