The new venue also should have time to make security and pitch arrangements.

In an effort to complete a full 20-overs match in case of rain interruptions, the IPL has decided to add 120 minutes of extra time for the remaining nine matches in the league phase of the 2025 season.

Normally the two-hour extra time allowance has been part of the playing conditions for the playoffs only. However, with the tournament resuming after a week-long suspension and the onset of monsoon across India, the IPL has decided to ensure play as far as possible.I

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took another major step in their endeavour to avoid weather interruptions in the remainder of IPL 2025. Apart from shifting the IPL final from Kolkata to Ahmedabad and two other matches off the playoffs to Mullanpur, the board also decided to make a minor yet extremely important tweak in the playing conditions for the remaining league matches of the 18th edition of the tournament.
