Well the focus is towards 'karma' or action/duty. A tree's action or duty if you will is to produce fruit. What happens to that fruit is none its concern. I mean the fruit can be eaten by others, could be offered to others or could simply rot. That is not the concern of the tree as such; the concern of the tree is produce that fruit and in order to do that it has to trap sunlight and water. So a tree is doing it's karma without thinking of whether will get to taste the fruit of its hard labor or not, whether the fruit will survive a term or not.

Best thread ever! I have learned so much! Thanks for the thread, Srutha di!
So here is my volley of questions...People say that Karma should be done without thinking about the fruit of it, but the trees purpose is to give fruit. It will have to work towards that? So, how can you do Karma without thinking about the fruit?Let me quote Shri Krishna here: "You have the right to work, but never to the fruit of work. You should never engage in action for the sake of reward, neither should you long for inaction"What He is trying to say is that you have to work for it is your duty. Success or failure doesn't matter, what matters is the way you handle the situation. And that is why Karma is our duty. We shouldn't expect anything. Be happy with what fruits you get.Why are so many woman abused in Hindu mythology? Why is Prakriti always shown as trapped by Sanskriti's chains? And is Sanskriti always bad?Prakriti and Sanskriti exist with one another. TO think of Prakriti being trapped within Sanskriti is wrong, it is an illusion itself. Prakriti is nature, Sanskriti is the rules. Both are required to co-exist. This whole Prakriti being abused by Sanskriti is a Maya created by God, one He wants us to see through and realise who and what we are. Both are different, but always exist together. The Vedas are the Shruti, God's words, and we have the Smriti's, human law. Why do we need Smriti when we already have Shruti?Smriti is needed as a way to understand Shruti. We humans need to have the purity to understand the Vedas. Since we don't seem to be able to accomplish that, human laws were created for us to understand Shruti better.

In a roundabout way, it also means "I am"And it also gives us insight into the fact that He is bound by call. Not until we call Him can he come, and relieve us of our sins.
