Dash Mahavidyas are Mahakali, Tara, Tripurasundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Bagalamukhi, Tripura Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Chinnamasta, Matangi & Kamala.
Durga is Sidhha Vidya.

Maa Aadi Shakti manifested in 10 major forms in the process of Creation, Administration and Destruction of this world, this Universe.
Mahakali, Bagalamukhi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, are Ugra forms.
Tara & Tripura Bhairavi, are saumyagra forms.
Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Matangi & Kamala are saumya forms.

Among them Mahakali & Tripura Sundari grants Liberation. They literally guide & take the deserving devotee to the path of Liberation.
Each one have their special characteristics. Even the ugra forms are quite compassionate towards their devotees.

Best thread ever! I have learned so much! Thanks for the thread, Srutha di!

So here is my volley of questions...

People say that Karma should be done without thinking about the fruit of it, but the trees purpose is to give fruit. It will have to work towards that? So, how can you do Karma without thinking about the fruit?

Why are so many woman abused in Hindu mythology? Why is Prakriti always shown as trapped by Sanskriti's chains? And is Sanskriti always bad?

The Vedas are the Shruti, God's words, and we have the Smriti's, human law. Why do we need Smriti when we already have Shruti?

@Gauri-
Prakriti is never trapped in Sanskriti. That is an illusion. Prakriti is free of binding. Prakriti is hurt only because people tend not to understand Her, for their chauvinism.

I will answer the rest soon 😳

Well the focus is towards 'karma' or action/duty. A tree's action or duty if you will is to produce fruit. What happens to that fruit is none its concern. I mean the fruit can be eaten by others, could be offered to others or could simply rot. That is not the concern of the tree as such; the concern of the tree is produce that fruit and in order to do that it has to trap sunlight and water. So a tree is doing it's karma without thinking of whether will get to taste the fruit of its hard labor or not, whether the fruit will survive a term or not.
