Yeah, Manthara may not have been a bad mother figure for Kaikeyi, but I think she interfered too much in Kaikeyi's life after marriage. After all, when we're married our parents do not interfere in our life, right? Likewise Manthara should have let Kaikeyi take some decisions on her own.
Also, it is true that Kaikeyi was a great lady who was full of motherly love and affection, but she was also said to be a bit proud.😳 RS Ramayan and AS Ramayan portray Kaikeyi to be a bit too giddy and happy, which is not totally wrong as she was a very kind person also, but Valmiki Ramayan writes Kaikeyi's character as a bit proud and vain at times. She was respectful to Kaushalya and Sumitra, but she was proud of her beauty and her position as Dashrath's favorite queen, and sometimes her attitude hurt Kaushalya and Sumitra. It is written by Valmiki that Kaushalya and Sumitra were the best of friends but both were slightly distant from Kaikeyi because she was possessive of Dashrath. At the same time, she was also a nice lady and loved Ram like her own son.
So Kaikeyi was not quite as all loving as RSR and ASR portray her to be, but she's nowhere near as cruel and wicked as Sagar Pictures is showing her.
