Because she already know that ram is the Avatar of Lord Vishnu and only He can Kill Ravana. My Hindi teacher told this to us once but at that time I didnt believe it.

I dont know but this whole thing was undigestable for me and still I do think the same. Surphnakha being attracted by Rama and then asking Ravana for abducting Sita just for the insult Lakshman had done to her seems more accurate. The reasons are :

1) If she already do know that Ram is the incarnation of Vishnu and can kill Ravana then why did she ask Khar Dushan for fighing with him? If Ram can Kill Ravana then he also can kill Khar dushan who were quite less in power as COmpared to Ravana. What they have done to her so she revenged them to Death?

2) Surphnakhs' had only one Son who is being killed by Lakshmana. So instead of revenging with Lakshmana will She plan the Death of Ravana with the Killers of her SOn? I m sure here son must be as dear to her as her Husband.

Now Say. What Do U think?

This story is not in Valmiki Ramayan Varnita, nor in RCM so it's debatable, but again, we are used to thinking of Ramayana in terms that no one knew anything was going to happen. It's hard for us to digest that Kaikeyi may have purposefully exiled Ram to kill Ravan, or that Shurpanakha orchestrated Sita Haran to get revenge on Ravan, but they're not impossible are they? There's nothing degrading about the characters in such stories so they're plausible.
With your two questions, I think that maybe Shurpanakha really was attracted to Rama. After all, her husband was killed a long time before Rama was born so she may have forgotten her revenge momentarily. When she saw Shri Ram she was attracted to him and when Lakshman cut her nose and ears, she swore revenge on the brothers thinking them to be humans and went to Khar-Dushan to fight them. Then when Khar and Dushan were killed, she realized that Shri ram was Vishnu and found a golden opportunity to have her brother killed...so she went to Ravan and instigated him to kidnap Sita, knowing that eventually, Ram would kill Ravan.
Also, about your second question, Shurpanakha never planned Ravan's death with Ram and Lakshman. That's just absurd!😆 I think she internally planned everything, realizing Shri Ram must have been born on Earth to kill her brother, so she created the events to make it possible for him to kill Ravan.

I think Vidyutjiva is another name for Shurpanakha's husband. He's referred by both names.

That makes sense, But i m not 100% sure abt that 😳
The Point U have made abt Khar Dushan makes sense completely but what abt SHambri's Death? She must grieved a lot for her only son's Death who is the last sign left of her Husband at that time and she should revenge Ram and Lakshman for that even before Raavan.
So the story of Surphnakha actually wanting to revenge and Kill ram and Lakshman makes more sense to me 😳.

If she really loved Shambri that much Varnita, then why would she become attracted to Ram and Lakshman so soon after his death?😕 That part never made sense to me, because one moment she was grieving his death and the next moment she was making a proposal of love to Ram, so her love for shambri is debatable.Embarrassed It's a valid fact you brought up, but the rakshasas were also said to be fickle beings...after all, Ravan lost all his sons in war and yet he still desired Sita, didn't he? Common sense would dictate that he'd blame her for the war and hate her, but still he thought he had a chance to woo Sita.🤔 So I don't know...anything could be valid, I guess.

Ok fine, ur points are valid! Surphnakha getting attracted to Ram just after Shambri's death actually questions her love for her Son. I think she is the only mother who can think like this because in Ravan's case though he was not so affected by the death of his Sons but their mother, Mandodari grieved a lottt for the death of her each and every Son because mother's love is completely different from Father's one..atleast in case of ravan.
But I still Doubt, the lady who dont care abt her Son's death and got attracted towards another Man at the same time, Can she ever love her Husband that dearly that she plans to a level of killing her own Brother? I mean if she actually loves him that much then she never get attracted by another man, does she?
I think such people are so selfish and cares for nothing. If she cant care for her Son, her love for her Husband is questionable 😕

Ok I just noticed this Post of urs.. So Janu, No version of Ramayan say this. This story actually comes from Shiv Purana. According to Shiv Purana Kumbhakarana got United with karkati on the ranges of Mountains and Had a son named Bheema. When Karkati came to know abt her Husband's Death she tried everything to take revenge from ram but failed Miserably. When Bheema grown up He asked her abt his Father and Karkati told him the whole story. Bhima took an oath instantly infornt of his mother to distroy Vishnu as the revenge of the death of his Father. He has done hard penence and got a boon from Bhramhaji. He started terroring Sages and normal people with the inluence of that boon. And when Bhima intrupted the penance of one of the devotee of Mahadev, Shivju distroyed Bhima in anger and got manifested there at the place where he killed him. The place now is called as Bheemashankar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 jyotirlings in existance! 😊

ASR ramayan has taken stories from every source and have shown it for whicjh I reallt appreciate it.
