Besides, calculating one's popularity based on social networking does not always give the right results. People with many different IDs and different handles who are continuously posting for, or promoting contestants cannot be counted as samples. Not everyone who watches or follows Indian Idol is active in social media. And, not just public voting determines the elimination or win, but judges scores (which plays a big role) and channels decision as well. In worst case, judges can use their veto power to save a talented contestant with poor public voting. They did this in the last junior season.

We can't ignore the social media followers, they play a vital part, but there is another set audience, the trp audience, who can make the difference if they choose to be an active participant.


But more than all these, there is channel politics which can overturn anything.
