Nepal is the best place for relaxation in the world, and I am very delighted to take the good memories of Nepal that I have during my stay in Nepal," said Mr. Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary cricket icon from India addressing a press conference today in Kathmandu. Mr. Gavaskar and his wife have been in Kathmandu since last six days for their private visit. The press conference was jointly organized by Nepal Tourism Board and Cricket Association of Nepal.

Reciprocating the request made by Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Tek Bahadur Dangi, Mr. Gavaskar said that he accepted the proposal of being Goodwill Ambassador of Nepal's tourism and was very much delighted to do anything that he could do for Nepal. Praising the Nepal's beauty and hospitality, he said he found Nepal's people fantastic and smiling right from the airport to the hotel and everywhere, and found no discrimination between ordinary tourists and celebrities in delivering hospitality. Impressed with the infrastructure for cricked tournament world's record-setting batsman Mr. Gavaskar said Kathmandu could be a good venue for sports tourism because of weather and people. This is the second visit of Mr. Gavaskar to Nepal. "I will tell the people wherever I go to visit Nepal, do relaxation and adventure sport," he promised.

Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Tek Bahadur Dangi, Member Secretary of National Sports Council and Acting President of Cricket Association of Nepal also addressed the press conference highlighting the importance sports tourism in Nepal.

Care to explain the bold part above?

Governor of MEghalaya gave the honory tittle of grand ambassador for peace to Amit Paul and mind you this was before the finals or semi finals.

That article about Gavaskar dosent say when was this, Was he at his peek or was he close to his retirment or retired. Of course if its close to retirement he dosnent have anything better to do might aswell be an honorary grand ambassador but if it was at the peek of his career and he accepted it then he was wrong . Also ambassador of what??? Peace or tourism??? Under what circumstances???

disagree with u on this 1 yaar, agree with deepakji😊

why are there sooo many pakistani singers in my country when not even 1 is allowed in their country?😕
but they have to be in a bit of control, cant just go on a spree of all the asian countries in the world😆plus as prashant showed, plus his relatives, they do actually understand hindi, but the pronounciationi have no comment, (pronunciation hardly matters...see for example Kumar Sanu or even Udit ji) ofcourse improved immensely! but still it was so hard 2 understand him! and when his family members spoke too, similarly with amits family too but loved amits pronounciation👏especially probably not being their first language! and u ask why it wasnt in sri lanka and all, because you know what? i have over 10 friends from sri lanka, all of them being true tamils/sinhalese people, they love their country but not 1 of them knows how to speak hindi! so how are they meant to audition there? and plus i heard in south tamil is their first language and lots even refuse 2 learn hindi because it is not necessary in that part of india. (Tamil is one of the languages there, others being Kannada, Telugu and Malyalam and except Tamilians rest have no problems with Hindi or Hindi music...e.g. Srisanth's just released album is in Hindi I think) just what i remember reading in posts on IF😊but definitely, they have great singing talent! so that is the main reason i guess, because in delhi, so many people speak hidni before languages like punjabi and in maharashtha, i sometimes feels there are people who speak more other languages than marathi so thats why they audition in certain places. im shocked they actually audtioned in nepal, i think? or maybe prashant came 2 mumbai? because they dont want sum1 with such bad pronounciation! sum1 who can speak hindi fluently and finishes off his notes lol:P

Now coming back to actual topic. The topic is not about previous ties of India and Nepal. It is to know where Prashant's loyalty lies if he chooses to honor.

Prashant is Indian Idol because he is an Indian. It is as simple as that. If he is made a brand ambassador then it should be to improved cultural ties between two nations.

Why should Indian Idol be used to promote some other country's tourism?

There is no doubt, Prashant is an Indian Citizen by birth, by his education and by his profession. Because of his ethnic background and cultural ties, he feels connected with Nepal, thats all. Why people want to make this a problem?

No matter what excuse one gives about previous ties between two countries, the fact is Prashant is what he is because of Indian Idol platform.

I rest my case again😊.

how r u sure, by declaring Prashant an ambassador of tourism will benefit only to Nepal?? Promotion of tourism benefits all who are in tourism business, and it is sure a larger pie will be on Indian plate too. Most flights to Nepal goes via Indian airports. People attracted to nepal are well attracted to India too.

Of course, prashant got an Indian idol plateform, but he thinks he was supported by his fans spread all over the world. Getting supported matters more than getting the platform.
