A night to remember
The first Gala performance of Indian Idol was simply mind-blowing. The contestants had a blast as they put on a fiery performance with Jhoom barabar jhoom… If the first Gala went off with enthusiastic applause and accolades for the brilliant performances, tonight, Saturday, is time for the first elimination. Saturday Night Fever is what will happen on the Indian Idol Saturday Night episode. After the brilliant performances and all that jazz, the top 13 are all waiting… and the wait seems endless! One among them will get voted out tonight. Her/his journey for the title of Indian Idol ends here.
The contestants' pulse is racing. Even the signature tune played during the elimination round makes the wait agonising. There's a lot of stress and sweat, fear and anguish, while the contestants wait for the names of the last three to be announced. Some go into a shell from the crack of dawn, while others try and put up a brave front. For example, Abhishek, who is often seen prancing around, just curls up and breaks into a cold sweat the moment he hears the music. Baby-faced Richa, who often looks like someone has reprimanded her, takes her place on stage with moist eyes. Amit has experienced what it feels like to be eliminated. His entry through Wild Card has given him the confidence he needs to perform before the audiences. Others like Chang, Prashant, Emon, Puja, Deepali, Ankita, Parleen and Charu are pretty confident and do not show their emotions easily.
The audience can be large-hearted, and can also tell a good singer from a bad one. Many a time, they have surprised, even shocked, the contestants, judges and the general viewing public with their unexpected choices in the past. Remember Amit Paul, who forgot his lines at the most crucial time, during his Wild Card Entry performance? All seemed lost; even Amit seemed to have given up hope, but the viewers felt he deserved another chance as he was a good singer. Their votes pulled him through. And who ever thought a singer like Padmanav or Shantanu or even Aisha would be left out in the cold?
The viewers have voted. The results are in. Who will go and who will remain on the show will be revealed tonight. The dream run ends here for one youngster as the other twelve prepare to move ahead. Don't miss the suspense, the results, the euphoria and the tears.
Catch the nail-biting action on Indian Idol tonight at 9.00 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television.
