Neha sang it very well too but I agree she is a mediocre singer.

I think the ovation was also because she chose this song. Neha and Smita are very different as singers. Smita can pull off slow numbers beautifully, she has control over sur, but no one expected her to do this type of fast song. For Neha this song was a piece of cake since it suits her style perfectly. Hence she got complaints saying you have chosen too easy a song for you. But Smita could have potentially screwed up this song, just like Vartika messed up 'yeh mera dil' cos it wasn't her type. So I think Smita got the ovation for showing versatility.😊

In a show when judges give standing ovation to just one singer then that means it was the best performance. That way Smita's was not. It is strictly my personal opinion. Smita is a very good singer but she was not incomparable to deserve an ovation. There were better singers tonight compared to Smita. I think it was done to negate Anu Malik's horrible remarks against her which is fine with me.

Yeah it was also probably because the judges didn't want her to come in the bottom four again. Well, whatever the reason, if it helps her get past the next round I am all for it.😛

I still feel that is injustice to the contestants who sang better than her. 😊

Maya, u r right. smitha's was not the best performance of the night. i personally feel when u r fighting for a place in the top 10 of one of the prestigious talent shows of the country, its not just the singing abilities but also the choice of song which matters. a talented singer like smitha should dare to sing a more challenging song. that would have proved that looks or style is not the criteria but sheer talent is.

I'd like to quote the example of Karunya here, he was one singer who always chose difficult songs through out the last season. and he did justice to all those songs which spoke a lot about the confidence he has in his own talent. smitha should be doing just that, not sing mediocre songs like zubi zubi, which is ok for a mediocre singer.

Like who? Deepali comes from Patna, she can still expect lots of votes from her area. So can Charu. I didn't find the others better than her actually. In this stage of the competition, the ones under a lot of stress would be Puja, Smita and Priyanka, cos the bengali votes are getting divided between them. Puja also has a Dhanbad connection, so its between Smita and Priyanka. And after the performances, if due to this ovation Smita gets past and Priyanka has to leave, that would be no loss. 😊

BTW who actually chooses the songs? From the way Smita and Vanita were speaking, it sounded like the channel hands them four songs. Do they have some say in the matter or not? 😕

You mentioned the names of better singers of tonight😃 already. Deepali-Charu-Puja. My comments have nothing to do with how the votes are based on regionism.

I didn't like partial attitude of my fav. judge for a mediocre song. period.

I stand by my views that Smita is a very good singer but she didn't deserve this ovation. It lowered the standard of ovation. Tomorrow when someone inlcuding Smita sings exceptionally and get an ovation, it will be compared to tonight's, which in my opinion is sad.

I know, but its not just about singing well, its also about getting votes. If a good singer gets voted out right now because of regional factors, that means we will hear less good quality songs later on. So I'm forgetting about political correctness and fairness and just hoping that the bad singers get votes out by any means possible. If that includes an undeserved standing ovation, I'll live with it.😊
