Richa wasn't the best.
But after listening to the recap, she was much better than some of the other contestants. Compare and contrast. [LOL But definitely not the best. Unlike Javed saab, I do not think she was singing like a tradedy. The original isn't a very peppy, upbeat song either. But yes, she could have bought more 'khushi' into the voice. Besides pleasing the judges, she would have sounded less monotonous.
Sure, she could improve but so can everyone else. No one is perfect. 😆

Charu could have been a little more original with her rendition. But she was the best today. 👏 I like her voice a lot.

Aisha was the most original with her rendition. I think her voice is perfect for folk type of songs though I'm sure she can do justice to peppy songs as well. She did sounded good when singing ek nazar mein bhi in the theater round.

Vartika is slightly overrated. 😳 I did not like her performance that much. Sounded too forced, especially the chorus.

My top five would be the same, though order is different:

1) Charu
2) Puja
3) Shifa (admire her for picking a tough classical number, especially when many of the others were picking wellknown peppy, upbeat songs or item numbers)
4) Aisha
5) Richa

Sonya Good analysis and even I am trying to be unbiased but if I sound one then can't help as such :) Richa voice and sur is good and she takes so many nakharas and may be thats working against her but she was anytime better than other singers.Richa's voice is different and I feel she can become good playback singer .Charu was best today and even I like aisa lot .Sifa is good too but little weak voice.Puja sang Tuzse Naraz well but the mood worked in favour of her.That song is so beautiful...

I think it was too early to distinguish between all the singers. At this point, most of them are good, so it was hard to really nitpick and find faults. I found it refreshing that the hosts were dancing along and enjoying themselves during the performances as opposed to the stone faced (why the hell did I agree to do this) look that some judges have. Finally, I find it really hard to get Richa's fiasco out of my mind when she's singing. If I could vote, I definitely wouldn't vote for her. Just my humble opinion!

yeah they were and audiance were lucky too

Infact, if I remember correctly, in II2, Amey and Karunya would get these kind of reactions from judges on their best performances .... I still feel that most of them have a lot of scope for improvement, but the way Alisha and Udit were praising them, it seemed they were the best 😕 ... Most of these performances are not what u would call "Bharat ki Shaan" .... I hope and pray that Alisha and Udit expect some more out of these contestants ...

I also liked her but may be she chose wrong song or something ....The song Tere bin nahi jeena has beautiful music and may be thats why it was lacking some punch

Exactly.
Its not too early to judge the singers. Public voting has started. Last year, the judges were not praising each and every contestant like this.

Hey Amrita you are already up and IFing ?😛 well I tried not be biased and I was not only one who felt ...even my friends felt that she has the best voice and even she can bcome playback singer. You are great Indian Idol fan but believe me all 14 were not good.Just listen origianal songs and listen today's performance ...there is a lot of difference.
I think people are just baised against richa bcoz of prashant issue and nothing else.No one wanna talk about her except few and thats the reality on IF 😛

does it matter what the judges say? its not like majority listen to them anyway...based on last years voting pattern 😕

Have you guys notice Udit Ji blushing after every performance? I am just wondering why Udit ji gets so excited ? May be he is like that and there is nothing wrong but as a Judge there is everything wrong :)
I hope Udit and alisha improve in their comments too
