Himesh to judge Indian Idol 3?

Himesh Reshammiya
Now that Star's money-spinner KBC 3 is back on air, can Sony's prized horse, Indian Idol be far behind? It's currently work-in-progress for the third installment of Indian Idol and there's a lot of buzz that Himesh Reshammiya is under consideration as one of the judges on the show.

It is reliably learnt that the current music sensation has been approached with the offer, a move that is sure to garner huge eyeballs for the channel. Himesh sharing the platform with other Idol judges like Anu Malik, Sonu Niigaam and Farah Khan is bound to attract curiosity.

When asked about the offer, Reshammiya prefers to remain non-committal. "At this stage, I don't want to say anything," he says.

Casting coup

Reshammiya has earlier been a judge on Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Apparently, he has been offered the role of judge for the new season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa as well.

Says an onlooker, "The concerned authorities have approached Reshammiya with the offer but he has yet to decide. The music industry is abuzz with the cold war between Himesh and Sonu, so getting them together on the same platform will be a casting coup for the show."

Sony has the license to stage four seasons of the desi version of American Idol, which is having a run on Star World presently.

"The production aspects and other nitty-gritties of the show are being worked upon. The names of the rest of the judges are also under consideration. At this juncture, it is very early to say anything about the various details of the show. It is still in the initial stages of planning and discussion." says the onlooker.

Indian Idol 1 (November 2004-March 2005) was a big draw and made the winner Abhijit Sawant a household name across the country. Indian Idol 2 (November 2005-April 2006) had Sandeep Acharya bag the crown, but he was not as popular as its predecessor.

I don't think Sonu Nigam is a part of II-3. He made that clear in one of the articles published earlier. I think it is going to be HR and Farah Khan for sure. I am not sure about the third judge. It could be Anu Malik or someone else.

I hope the quality of the singers this time is better and not like II-2. Only good singers will make a show better.

If Himesh replaces Farah then it would be very good.... Her comments are so fake and irritating... she has a very irritating and passive-agressive personality...

But if he replaces Sonu that would be very bad... Sonu is the main draw for this show for me... his comments are awesome and sensible...

I didn't like him much on SRGMP. But HR judging II3 would be good for the show and channel. He's popular can't deny that. Sonu and HR judging would definitely be a casting coup. 😆 Instead of Farah, Sunidhi Chauhan or Vasundhara Das should judge. Instead of Anu Malik, one of three FG judges- Javed Akhtar, KK or Shankar.

True but the channel may convince Sonu to return for a third season. 😕 Lets see.

Himesh will be good for Sony's TRP sp after Idol II but if he starts playing that " vineet" card here too with a particular contestant then I'll be soooo annoyed ....shankar mahadevan will be a good replacement for Anu malik .....Shiamak Davar or Vaibhavi Merchant might be a good replacement for Farha Khan 😃 ......

By the way , Sonya , is that Nihira Joshi in ur siggy standing between Shankar and Loy????????
