VJ and emcee, Mini Mathur stands for style, grace and attitude. After a decade in the glamour world, the lady has fond memories of her initial days. Married to filmmaker Kabir Khan, Mini is a mother of three-year-old Vivaan. "That's a full time job in itself," she laughs. Mini talks about her inviting 6-BHK flat in the suburbs. "A few years down the line if I'm asked what I've achieved, I'd say it's my house," she smiles.
1. BAR BAR DEKHO
"I moved into this house in August 2001. My husband Kabir gifted it to me," Mini says with pride. Her sprawling 3000-sq ft house has another 1000 sq ft as the terrace area. Both Kabir and Mini were sure that they didn't want 'a regular house'. The couple conceptualised every section and corner. The bar area is their favourite and has a Victorian charm to it. "We love entertaining guests. Every weekend, there's a party for a friends and family," she says.
2. COOK NA KAHO
A high-maintenance flat, Mini and Kabir have appointed a staff to take care of it. Earlier, Mini used to live in a bungalow in her hometown, Delhi. "It was different there. In Mumbai, we decided that an apartment was a better option." In fact, Mini's home is actually made up of two 3-BHK flats. "Besides my master bedroom, there is one for my mother-in law and one for my son. There's a study and a guest room too." Check out Mini's spic and span kitchen! "My son Vivaan is extremely fussy about food. Sometimes I cook to please him."
3. SPA THERAPY
There is a certain mood that Mini has tried to create in her cosy bathroom. She has avoided the usual run-of-the-mill tiles "I've used marble and stone to enhance the area," she says. There is even a sleek jacuzzi surrounded by candles. "Every room in my house has a theme. Since Kabir and I travel a lot we picked up ideas for our house from various parts of the world," she says. Mini never took the help of any interior designer for her house. "I wanted our home to have our personal touch," she says.
4. TEA AND SUNSHINE
Mini's flat has three small terraces that run in the centre of her house. This is the one that is attached to the bar area. Apart from her family the woman can't do without her Man Friday, Pradeep. "I just have to call him an hour before a party and from food to wine he organises everything. We bank on him a lot," she says. Otherwise, a calm person, Mini gets all panicky when she has to sit at home. "I've been working all my life, so breaks don't do any good to me. I've to keep myself occupied," says Mini, who admits to being a workaholic.
5. LIVING LIFE KINGSIZE
Mini had this king-sized platform bed shipped in from Bali. "I was holidaying when I came across this bed and I knew that it was just right for my bedroom. The fixed lamps and the white curtains give it an exotic look. Mini has a high walk-in closet in her bedroom. "More than half of it is filled with my stuff. Kabir has no option but to make do with a small portion," she giggles. Mini likes to dress up according to her mood. "I chose my clothes and the colours according to my mood." A similar miniature walk-in closet is present in Vivaan's room for his clothes.
