But despite suffering from a slip disc, the performer continued with his shows
Singer Sonu Nigam is commitment phobic. Last week while performing in Delhi, the star crooner was reaching out to a child in the audience, when he felt a shooting pain in his back.
In a split second, Sonu developed a slip-disc and collapsed. But the intense pain did not deter him from performing. After completing the two-hour programme, Sonu then travelled for eight hours and reached Ludhiana where he was scheduled to perform next. He then caught the flight to Mumbai for his show in Vashi.
Sonu's associate Ben Thomas confirms this and says, "Sonu was in great pain in Delhi. The promoters tried dissuading him from performing and requested him to rest. But Sonu insisted on sticking to his commitments." When contacted Sonu said, "I am better now. God has been kind to me. I managed all the three shows regardless of everything."
Incidentally, the singer, who has just returned from a month-long concert in the US, has swung back into action here. "But that's the nature of my job. I am just doing my work," he says.
