The 'Peepli live' promotion on Indian idol was a bit beyond acceptable limits. Sony has this habit of over-promoting its programmes and movies, but showing scenes and dialogues in the middle of Indian Idol and introducing the actors, praising their work was too much. I would prefer that Aamir Khan had let the movie speak for itself or maybe made other types of promos. Somehow after this promotion by Aamir Khan I don't feel like watching the movie.
I also noticed that Aamir Khan's comments on the singers were all being read out from a paper. He was constantly looking at his 'dialogues' while commenting on the singer's performances. He is a decent actor...maybe he could have at least 'acted' better and not made it so obvious.
And that dialogue by Anu Malik saying that Aamir Khan had heeded to his request and come back again. This was unbelievable. We all know that it is Aamir Khan who has begged to come on Indian Idol to promote his movie.
I loved the singers' performances, but was not impressed with yesterday's episode because of the 'Peepli live' stuff.

Completely agree. This is what I wrote in another thread.

Anyway, I was thoroughly bored and irritated by the promotion of Peepli Live. The movie looks good but I find such excessive promotion very off-putting. And I personally don't like Aamir. He is so calculating and it all seems like a big business venture for him both times he came to Indian Idol.

The singing portion was fantastic though

And I was thinking Indian Idol seems to have transformed into Bollywood home shopping network of late. The stars come entirely for self-promotion, no one cares about the contestants and they talk some superficial nonsense and go away. Today it was so ridiculous to see the three contestants stand way back at the end when the whole Peepli teem and the judges were singing in the forefront.

Of late Amir has made a name for himself in the field of film promotiom. He has always been praised sky high for his "innovative" promotion schemes with every new film. Yesterday's effort was one more "innovation" from his side. And then Sony is more than happy to give in. He is still coming and promoting 3I on setmax. What for????
The essence of II5 as in singing was totally lost yesterday. And that too when we are so near the finals.

It is in my ignorance that I am asking that ,does aamir need a channel or a show to promote his movie?I dont think it is true that he begged,he already proved with his success what talent he is.

I agree that other drama was all unnecessary, esp the ammaji and other people praising aamir irritated me.

I agree to last post .. Work of Aamir Khan speaks for himself .. and i felt use of word "beg" by topic starter a bit rude ... Aamir khan has made name for himself by showing some extra ordinary skills in acting and bringing social issues as movies ... He is such a brilliant man I admire him a lot for being so down to earth ... has anyone noticed the standard (Physically) of crew of his upcoming movie?? I don't think anyone else will take those actors as lead in movie ... when everyone is running behind big names ..he is the one going in public and finding out real talent and bringing them in cinemas .. moreover, leaves a spark by his work.. So I don't think he needs to request or i say (beg) any show or channel for forcing them to invite on show.. And how on earth someone believes that he will beg to SONY Tv... A channel is struggling itself .. well many of us their hidden stuff ... isn't??

@Moreover, Some people are argue that they were irritated by emotional drama of crew of movie on set of II5.. Look guys be practical, if such a big star will made you somebody to nobody..won't you praise him?? he took actors from small cities and gave such a wonderful opportunity to show their talent...if they praised him, publicly, whats wrong in that??? what you will do if someone a big name from your respective talent .i.e singing, dancing, writing or anything give you chance to show what you have and then brings you on national TV... won't you applause that person? or will stay quit being dumb?? Anyone can answer this?? Please???

@ He is far better than some actors who are strucked on one type of roles throughout their life .. [B] So a humble request to everyone, please don't use such Words or Sentences specially against a established celebrity and personality or the one is Idol of mosts ..

@It is just my personal opinion .. Any Resemblance to hurting anyone's feeling will be called Co-Incidence ... thanks

I think the answer to your first question is yes. No matter how big a star, he is very much in need of media. A show like Indian Idol whose viewer ship is extremely high is a huge platform for promotion. That is why you see all the biggest stars making an appearance. Of course, it goes the other way around too. If Aamir makes an appearance more people are going to watch Indian Idol. The fact remains that it is a business transaction where the contestants take somewhat of a backseat.

And to the person who thinks Aamir personally selected poor people😆. Maybe I am too cynical but sometimes I feel people don't realize how the world works. Everything is based on the requirements of the movie. The story demands that you have ordinary looking new comers to make it believable and credible. So they look for ordinary looking people. Nothing shatteringly noble about that.
