Yes, I partially agree with you, Di.
First of all, the channel has to raise the TRP's by showing something entertaining and by doing so, they lose their minds completely. Since it's pormotion season, Sony has been promoting movies hither and thither, on CID, II, Boogie Woogie and even on some soaps(like that wedding show, forgot the name). This makes me doubtful about their budget, which I feel they have overspent😆
I don't think that Aamir Khan was begged to come on II, rather ot was the other why around, so that there is an increase in TRP's, especially since the gala rounds are over, and Sony has to fill in that particular time slot. I read somewhere in the papers few weeks ago that Aamir himself had said that he won't be focusing much on publicizing of the movie, and the movie will speak for itself. Besides, do you really think that a movie that was produced by a man who has been delivering hits like TZP, 3I, Ghajini etc needs any hype etc..?😆
The episode yesterday was way too chessy and irritating for my liking, at least. They were focusing on redundant features, like the clips of the movie and small talk which made no sense, like Ammaji and AM's convo, with AM sounding more froggy that ever😆 So, I just fast-forwarded these parts and listened to the contestants, the song by the Indian Ocean band, and the Mehangayi song at the end.
I won't be surprised to see such nonsensical stuff coming on repeatedly this week, since the gala rounds are over and this week's performances won't be judged critically as such.
IDK if that affects my decision on watching the movie. The concept is good: a satirical comedy about famers commiting suicide in Chattisgarh because the govt will pay for their death and the reviews look good, let's see if I watch it or not.
