I was so excited for Sunday's episode. Mahima Chaudhry was a crush for so many 90s kids and most of us still have a soft spot for her. Simply seeing her on shows fills us with joy. Throw in the fact that so many of Subhash Ghai's films had great soundtracks, along with the fact that he's usually a pretty good guest with good stories, and you have a must see episode on paper. Dare I say it was even better than expected?
Adya was really good for the second straight week. If this leads to a streak of great weeks for her, the combo of that possibility with her growing fanbase/social media presence could lead her towards becoming a contender.
Dipan was fine. His delivery of Do Dil was okay, but I really liked his closing of Om Shanti Om.
Sanu da slayed, but what else is new?
Ananya is so consistently great. Every week she does an amazing job. The moment between her and Mahima was so touching too.
Piyush reminded everyone that he is a bonafide contender with his rendition of Dard E Dil. His performance of Ye Dil Deewana was also very good and showed off his versatility.
Anjana's riff during Piyush's performance was probably her best delivery of the season.
Vaibhav, oh my god. He's usually fun and mostly good, but this? His version of Ramta Jogi was a dynamite performance, his best of the season. He reminded everyone that he is not some joker who is only there for some comedic purposes. When he brings his best, can compete with some of the best. I want more of this version of him. And then having the energy to sing My Name is Lakhan? Fantastic showing for him.
Mahima's performance was very fun. She is very likable.
Subhash Ghai always tells good stories and backstories. His movies weren't usually my cup of tea but he's always a good guest that gives the people what they want. All the behind the scenes footage was also refreshing to watch.
Mahima ji is still iconic. She was lovely and so much fun the entire show. ❤️
The medley at the end was fine, but not as in-depth as hoped. No Ek Hasina Thi? No Zindagi Har Kadam? No Khal Nayak songs? No Yuvraaj or Yaadein songs? There's so much more they could have done. But it's a small quip for such a great episode.
Long story short is that I loved this show. I hope next week's shows are this entertaining and wholesome.
