Saturday Episode -

Again a very good episode. Enjoyed all the performances.

Favourite performance will be Shivam's Gawah Hai song. He sang it so beautifully with the so much feel. He is doing well.👍🏼

Sonakshi & Deboshmita delivering good performances consistently.

Rishi surprised me with Meri Jung song. As Neha said, I never expected this song from his but he did very well. I like how he sings in his style doesn't matter if the song it new or old. Songs sound fresh in his voice. Nihal had this quality in last season.

Rupam good performance. Song suited her voice.

I am expecting something different from Navdeep now.

Duet was enjoyable too. I am liking Kavya. She can sing all types of songs, in some she is above average and in some she rocks. Overall a good performer. Chirag's voice is little different and goes very well with some songs but I think his voice lacks power.

I had never seen Meenakshi except in movies, it was good to see her in Indian Idol.

Chirag and Kavya. Tu Mera Janu Hai and Pyaar Karne Waale. Forced chemistry, and okay-okay singing.

Shivam. Gawaah Hain Chaand Taarein i.e. Daamini O Meri Daamini. He is skilled, but somehow the projection of voice is lacking. He can be so much better!

Debosmita. Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye. Very well sung. I am really surprised she has been in the bottom 3 during both the eliminations! HR was as usual over the top, but this was definitely one of the better performances I have seen in this season so far. Of course, I have missed the last 2 weekends. MBD given and deserved.

Rupam. Lambi Judaai. It appeared that the song pitch was brought down a few notches to suit her. She did well, but the magic of the original was lost. She herself became quite emotional after the song. As did HR. MBD given.

Rishi. Jab Se Tumko Dekha Hai Sanam, and Zindagi Har Kadam Ek Nayi Jung Hai. Well sung, but you probably need to really like his voice. Having said that, I do believe he is one of the strongest in this group.

Sonakshi. Nindiya Se Jaagi Bahaar. Sonakshi is very skilled, no doubt. But her voice does not resonate with me. She sang very well, technically.

Navdeep. Chamakte Chaand. Still the same i.e. brilliant technically but doesn't open his mouth wide enough except for the high notes. MBD given and probably deserved too.

Asides: it was good to see the young saxophonist back on Idol. If I remember correctly he was 16 when he came to Idol 12, which means probably 17 now.

Could only catch up with Chirag Kavya's performance..was kinda disappointed. It was nowhere near their kaate nahi Kat te duet.

It's a hit n miss with them. Kabhi kamaal ka gaate hai kabhi mediocre

I actually agree with most of ur analysis. Said abt Chirag Kavya in earlier post. They both, Shivam, Vineet n Sonakshi were the ones I noticed in early rounds. I like Kavya's husky voice but sometimes..in simple language..sur nahi lagte.

Shivam is amazing..sang Meri bheegi bheegi si song so well but somewhere throw ..what u said voice projection is missing. IMO in II13 only Bidipta and Senjuti r great at it..and Debo is good.

Rishi is a frontrunner..so usse expectations zyaada hai..so kabhi kahin pronunciations khatakte hai..more so in old songs..like how his 'ra' sounds.

Sonakshi..same. her voice is extra sweet.

Vineet is also hit n miss like ChiKa.

Navdeep ko zyaada suna nahi..and Rupam is ok.

Having said that..all of them r 'n times' better than me😆

never heard what shivam sang before. but the song sounded good

Liking shivam since last few weeks. (Probably my fav contestant so far)

Devo, sonakshi are good.

Rishi is good but don't like his hand movements and expression

Chirag - kavya :- neither of the songs worked for me , it was v mediocre.

Shivam :- he is growing on me. Shows improvement & brings adequate feel to the songs. Enjoyed his performance.👍

Debo :- jab koi baat was rendered beautifully. One of her finest ; loved it 👍

Rupam :- I knew that Lambi judai will go to her. But despite the song suiting her tonal quality, something was lacking. Didn’t feel the pull of the original.

Rishi:- Why do I get the feeling that Rishi is slipping or becoming over- confident? Of the 2 songs, Meri Jung was rendered well. The first one was okayish.

Sonakshi :- nindiya se was sung v well.

Navdeep :- once more stuck to his genre where he delivers. 👍. Enjoyable, no doubt; as long as it is classical.

Asides:-

* So they are trying all combos here to infuse romance… Chirag -kavya, kavya-navdeep, Chirag-Rupam … 😡. And now Rishi’s ex….

* When nehu took to stage with mic in hand, it took all my resilience not to scream out aloud. HR was also bad. I feared ki kahin meenakshi laut ke US na jaaye.😳

* And finally HR’s stylist got his revenge for turning every song into ‘ aap ka suroor’. Tiger zinda hai, boss. 🐯

Shivam is definitely getting better. Or maybe because, I didn’t expect much from him, I am pleasantly surprised by him since the last 2 weeks.

Reg, projection, it is senjuthi & vineet for me.👍, but of course they have much more exposure & experience.

I finally watched a full episode today! Never did I realize that Meenakshi Sheshadri has some lovely songs picturized on her. Overall it was a pretty good episode.

Chirag and Kavya - they were okay. I think Kavya let Chirag down. Kavya is a hit or a miss and I don’t think she was a hit today.

Shivam was fantastic. He did full justice. Infact I can’t stop humming Damini oh meri Damini after listening to him. For me he was clearly the best performer today.

Debosmita - she was good as usual. I just don’t understand why she’s in the bottom three everytime. I have heard better renditions of this song, but I can’t fault her performance.

Rupam - I absolutely love Lambi Judaai, and I quite liked it and didn’t like it as well. This song has been sung on almost every reality show, almost every season. The last I remember watching it was when Sawai sang it and he butchered the song for me, so from that perspective I quite liked Rupams performance. However on the other hand it didn’t move me. This song usually touches the heart but not today.

Rishi - he was fantastic. It was a nearly flawless performance. His second song - zindagi har kadam ek nayi Jung hai may not have been his genre, but it’s a soft melody, something he’s comfortable singing. So I won’t say he sang something very different from his usual style. He (and Shivam) are ready to record or perform live right now.

Sonakshi - brilliant singing, she’s got a great grasp on her skill but somehow I didn’t think it was a wow. I’ve been thinking what did she not do well, but there’s nothing I can think of. I just didn’t feel any connect.

Navdeep - I haven’t heard the song before (or don’t remember) so I can’t compare. He’s really good when it comes to classical singing, but it would be nice to see him sing something lighter. Can’t comment much on his performance.

At the end when the three judges sang, the minute Neha started I wanted her to stop. I can’t tolerate her. She’s so nasal and every song sounds the same. In fact when Himesh sang, and he’s nasal too, I didn’t mind it, atleast he didn’t ruin a perfectly good song with his nasal voice.

I have nothing against Himesh and Vishal being judges, but why do they have to sing? I mean I don’t mind them singing songs they’ve originally sung, but please don’t ruin a good song sung by another. As for Neha, she’s not even capable of judging. She’s just lucky to be where she is.
