I would look at Insta post likes over followers, since followers can easily be bought in today’s age of digital marketing (not saying any contestant is doing this necessarily, sometimes accounts can be attacked by bots as well).

Yes they have but Ashish has a much better growth rate of followers. He has added nearly 10k more followers than either in the past 24 days. That counts a lot.
I have followed the link between followers and top finishers in the past two idols. Both show a strong correlation. It is not exact science but statistically significant.

I think top 5 will be ,

Arunita

Pawandeep

Smp

Danish

Sawai (audience likes him)/sayli(judges likes her and performing very well)/ashish(channel promoting him)

Top 4 are lock imo, they have audience support and judges support

True, but Pawan is very close and has many more followers. The gap is too large to bridge in my opinion. He will have the most by the end of Idol.

I doubt some of them will be Pawandeep followers as well. The amount of shipping sony tv did with both of them even fake videos with both of them are getting huge response on you tube. So there will be lot of common fan base between them. How they choose between them for the voting decides who has fair chance in my opinion.

Iam not sure about the stat but I think Anjali would be more popular in Maharashtra and some other states compared to Ashish given her proficiency in classical. There are 3 contestants from Maharashtra now. Will be interesting who will pull more votes among them from state and other state audience.

In my opinion you need pan India support on top of regional votes to win idol. There are contestants who get block support because of who they are. They can get away with slightly less all-India appeal. But sometimes the votes are in crores - so all round support is the key. Both Salman and Sunny had pan India support in Idol 10 and 11 on top of block votes.

II12 changed to different format now. Now judges are not going to score any one. Every episode is up for voting and who ever have highest votes will reach finals. That's what I understood. So actually other than doing MBD I don't think there is anything judges will do from now on and who ever have more public support goes into top5.

Anyway as they never share how many votes each contestant have I still except for top 2 contestants who have more prominent support channel can still play with who want in other 3 in my personal opinion. So mostly I was guessing who ever is being sidelined recently won't reach top5 irrespective of whether they are popular or not compared to others.
