She is not even close to being sidelined compared to Anjali, Sayli, and Nihal.

Iam not bothered about others singing so much. Its upto channel how many songs they want to give to each contestant. I just wanted to listen SMP atleast once. I don't think there is something called uncomfortable genre for SMP. I saw her from childhood. She can sing any style starting from classical to western. Because of her base voice some low pitch songs won't suit in her voice. Its same with some singers who can nail low pitch songs quite well will not be able to handle high notes with same ease. Anyway finally I saw promo on you tube it was with Danish. Iam really happy. I really wanted to listen them together. Iam eagerly waiting now. By the way I also like Anjali quite a lot so I agree with you some times it feels she is sidelined. I don't listen to Nihal or Sayali quite often so I can't comment on them.

They are trying very hard to sideline SMP and focussing so much on Arunita and Pawandeep! They are afraid that if SMP is given full classical, all the humbug that, she can't sing classical, will be royally shattered.

And then so laughably, some of our viewers claim that SMP gets full focus!!

For people like me who like her she is versatile. If others think no its upto them. To my knowledge what SMP is doing is intelligent. Rather than trying to show how versatile they are and ending up being eliminated just show how best they are in the genre they choose to grow. SMP wanted to become a rock star so she is being true to her goal. She may not win Indian idol title but she has an amazing fan base who believe she will definitely be a rock star. That's enough for her to find success. If I have to choose between impressing judges vs impressing people on forums like this I will choose judges which she is doing and also successful so far. There was not even single performance of her which did not got a standing ovation from judges and most of the guests as well. When someone participates in a competition that's what they should look for in my opinion than a title. Actually Indian idol showed me how strong she is in western. So I became big fan for her more than before.

Someone who can sing a carnatic and western fusion in front of guests like ARR if people think she dont know classical that shows they have zero knowledge in music. I know Pawandeep or Arunitha will win this season because they are most voted contestants and have a crazy fan following. So channel at some point will have to sideline SMP to promote them but did not expect it will be this soon. I don't mind them winning and it doesn't make SMP any low for me.

She is good at Western but that's about it. Every singer has his or her limitations but that does not mean she doesn't have talent at all. Its time to accept that she can't sing certain type of songs which is a limitation, considering the country she is in and what majority audience members prefer.

She's sticking to her strengths and I get that but every line of every song does not need to have riffs and runs and falsettos and yodelling. It might sound for 5 minutes but to sit thru a 2 hr show of such a performance will become boring. And I say this since u mentioned she wants to be a rockstar. Even the biggest rockstars in world don't do it.

Kishore Kumar is the most popular and talented yodeller in the country. And he was versatile because he moulded himself according to the genre: classical, bollywood, romantic, sad and western. SMP brings her own style into anything she sings and it does not suit all songs.

There is a difference between presenting ur talent and overdoing it. And her overdoing is doing more harm to her vocal cords than good.

And in my opinion its the people who matter. The judges won't get her work, its the people who will make a composer or label to sign her. If u know how these things work.

SMP has a niche, her listeners do not cover more percentage and that will be that. Just the way a Radhika Apte can't be a Deepika Padukone. The latter will have more fans and a bigger reach. But a Deepika Padukone does not need to be a Radhika Apte.

She is just 18. And not many guru's are there in India for her to teach what is right, how much will be too much when it comes to western styles. I never felt she is overdoing it myself not heard from any of my colleagues who love her who know western styles better than me. Considering both her parents are masters in music field I guess they will stop her if it reaches a stage she damages vocal cords. In my opinion she has less competition in her niche as melodious voices you will find many in each competition in girls. See even in this competition we have Arunitha,Anjali,Sireesha all are really good and popular as well. I don't go by popularity for a singer even Neha has 50 million plus insta followers that does not make her more talented than her contemporary singers. Neha is good in her own niche. Same way SMP will find her success in her niche. Whether she will make it big or not only future can tell. Its same with all contestants they are genuinely talented in their own niche some may be more popular but it doesn't mean others won't find success.

All of the contestants have great potential and ability but none are newsworthy at this stage of their career. They will either need big breaks to make a breakthrough and have to be damn lucky, no matter how good they are, to make a name for themselves outside reality TV shows.
I think quick success for Idols is to get shows which are a source of income. That keeps them going till they get a break.
Shows usually (in non-Covid times) are the domain of the Top 5. So if you finish in the top and can enthral an audience of oldies with retro songs, you will get international shows. If you sing modern / unique you open up a new avenue which may be very rewarding. No reason why an entirely different set of listeners will not pay big bucks to jive and rock.
So we may have our own personal favourites but each of the Top 5 have an equal opportunity to benefit from Idol and all of them need their supporters to make that list.
Success for each can be made easier by popular support based on preferences. But careers have to made through long struggle in the main. Your ability will not guarantee it in today's crowded field of, often, well-connected and auto-tuned competition in India.

This show is all about favoritism to couple of contestants which is obvious when you see how much face time, make up and gaudy dressing they get.

I commend Vishal for his bold character and speaking out his mind.

Leaving this contestant to public votes will be an absolute disaster as huge segment of votes are cast based on the looks and home state.

Another key point: Getting to 80 percent perfection and be a copy cat is much easier for melodious songs. People who do this are dime a dozen, come and go every single year. Unfortunately some guys still fall for that sur and melody trap as much as they do for make up and dresses.
