Imlie on Northstar

Recently, the show "Matchmaker" took the streaming platform Northstar by storm. Viewers were taken by the loud matchmaker aunty who seemed to take a keen interest in matching singles up. Whether she succeeded in creating drama or conflict or had a genuine interest in matchmaking was left up to the viewer to decide. Did aunty succeed in any of her matches or were the singles too picky for their own good?

The success of the show prompted the streaming platform Northstar to commence a prequel where the aunty talks about her first successful match and how she got into the matchmaking business.

This writer set out to answer this question -- Who is the matchmaker?

The writer met her in a swanky coffee shop. Aunty waltzed in with her sunglasses and designer handbag and huffed and puffed about the traffic. The interview would keep getting interrupted by phonecalls, her chats with the waiter as well as waving hello hello to other patrons of the coffee shop. She is a character!!!

So who is this aunty? -- Her real name is Imlie from Pagandia. After a nonsensical traumatic first marriage, she married her true love Aryan Singh Rathore at the age of 19. Unlike typical weddings, there was all sorts of chaos at her wedding. Imlie aunty giggled, "My husband's back almost broke, poor thing. The mandap fell on him" --- ummm, what? the writer is confused but Imlie aunty is too busy chatting and jumping on to the next topic.

She is all excited to share details about the prequel where she shares how she got into the matchmaking business. After marrying into a wealthy industrial family, she began setting up couples as a hobby. Writer is confused -- wasn't Imlie aunty once a journalist? Imlie aunty rolls her eyes and tells me that journalist was a job but her meddlesome nature meant matchmaking was her true passion.

She first started by matching her sister-in-law. "Was it to get rid of potential in-laws trouble?", I ask. Imlie aunty glares at me and gives me a swat on my head with a loud "tsk tsk". She explains that she loves her sister-in-law and it was sisterly affection that prompted her to do the first match.

I want to know more but Imlie aunty gets a call where she launches excitedly about hearing some single's details. Before I can ask more, she waltzes away and tells me to watch the show instead to find out more. She promises that all sorts of drama happened like her husband blowing his top. I gasp and ask what happened. She laughs and says, "the man came around like he always does. after all I am Imlie!"... Oh, the writer wants to know more but alas, Imlie aunty is too busy and goes off.

So viewers, keep an eye out for the new show and let us know your thoughts -- are matchmaker aunties just bored out of their head? are they true romantics? do they need another job because their current job has no mazaa? what drives these matchmaker aunties?

P.S ~ this is a troll post and has no true connection to the show "Indian Matchmaking" or the platform Netflix. All simliarities and co-incidences are just made up. 😂

I imagined him as the always behind d newspaper reading it n not talking husband....who has given up completely😆

Maybe has taken up gardening also to seek refuge n mental peace frm his wife's antics😆

the writer asked Imlie aunty - she says that like all good hubbys, he minds his own business by pretending to read the paper or watching NDTV profit. she has been telling him that matchmaking is far more entertaining than the stock market but the man refuses to listen. alas, this is a solo one-woman job.

Imlie aunty is not only a matchmaker. She's an all-rounder. She has a trauma treatment center on the sides. Her most famous therapy is direct exposure to one's worst fear and trauma.🤪

Well husband is too busy in business to keep the wife occupied in other activities and hence her refuge is romance novels which inspires matchmaking 👀 🤭

kekeke.... I wish I had more graphic skills. I wanted to do a meme by using the netflix poster for the show but this is the extent of my graphics -- just stick it in powerpoint. 🤣 so, yea, am glad the writing did the job of giving good laughs.
