Just a little drabble of what was going around in Imlie's mind doing that fail and catch scene. Which I haven't seen.
Just as Imlie was about to fall, she was caught in someone's arms. She felt a jolt go through her body. It was like a course of static went through her body.
The thing was that Imlie was prepared to fall. She just knew that she would fall, as she often did, and no one would catch her, because the one who is supposed to catch her was marrying another woman.
So when she did not fall, she obviously expected that her Babu Saheb had caught her, and when she opened her eyes in expectations of looking into his, she came across those eyes.
Those eyes that always spoke more than his mouth ever did. Those eyes that expressed more than he ever did. Those eyes that, for reasons she could not fathom, watched hers sometimes.
Sometimes in realization, sometimes in sympathy, sometimes in empathy, sometimes in shock and sometimes in awe.
It was her Boss Babu, Mr. Lambi Gaadi, the Akdu Danav, Mr. Aryan Singh Rathore.
For a second she was confused, what was he even doing here? What was his purpose of coming here? He couldn't have possibly come here for her.
And when she found out why he did come here, she didn't know whether she was angry or relieved. Angry, that he would dare to come here to stop her from swaying Babu Saheb, that he would butt into her private life. Relieved, because he was being just the distraction she needed from the chaos that was her private life.
You see, if she was fighting this, this force of a man to be reckoned with, she was not thinking about Babu Saheb marrying Malini Didi. Every moment she was listening to his scolding, she was not thinking that it had only been one day since her divorce and be ex-husband was already marrying someone.
So she did what she hadn't done ever since she can't even remember, she avoided the problem until it eventually went away.
Only time would tell what would come out of this.
And for once in her life, Imlie was so tired, that instead of searching for answers, she was just going to wait it out.
