Doctor draws Jaya aside and tells her that her son Shankar
likes Nandhini - 'these days the bride changes even in the
kalyana medai... so think about it. If you think calmly, then you
will know that there is nothing wrong. Give us a positive answer.."
Goes to Sumathy's mom and tells her that Jaya has been briefed.
"please consult and let us know, bye bye.." The groom's side
leaves. Sumathi's mom frets and asks Jaya -"what did they say???"
Jaya spills - vision of Kalyani telling Jaya "my son likes Nandhini"
All hell breaks loose. Amma explodes. Starts accusing Jaya - "how
dare they come to see one girl and ask for another?? how did u even
allow them to get out of this house with out confronting?? " Jaya says
that she was stunned hearing that and did not know how to react.
Mommy's cursing drama - curses Jaya and her sister Nandhini -
" I know I know, I know. You planned it all along. You made sure to
parade your sister in front of them and spoiled Sumathy's chance.
Periya edam illiya. athaan..." Both Jaya and Nandhini plead innocence
but mommy goes on to curse -" enga veetu uppai sappittu engalukke
dhrogam??? " goes on and on. jaya and Nandhini cry. Sumathi feels
bad about the rejection but is sane and practical - tells mommy that
they should only be happy that Nandhini found a good match. Gopal
also says that there is nothing wrong in this. "we will sure find a good
match for Sumathi. Now that we have a good alliance for Nandhini,
we should only be happy/" Sumathi consoles a crying Nandhini.
Devraj at home - chides his wife for her action. " when we go and see
a girl, we either say yes or no. You can't point another girl in that house
and ask for her hand???!!!" Kalyani keeps quiet. Pavithra speaks up -
" these days every one has the clarity to think objectively. There is nothing
wrong. Annan is impressed by Nandhini and so whats wrong?" Devraj
says that she wont understand such intricacies and asks his wife as to
how she could voice Shankar's choice. Kalyani says that Shankar has
not asked for any thing so far and she could not refuse his wish. Shankar
now says that they have not committed a crime -" we have expressed our
desire. Now the ball is in their court. No one can force them to do what
they do not like !""
Kalyani at the hospital. Sees a patient who wants to know the sex
of her unborn child/ Kalyani says that they can not disclose. After
that lady leaves, Nandhini comes inside. Kalyani welcomes her and
wants to know if every thing is ok. Nandhini says that there is problem
at home. " your son wanting to marry me has irked my akka's MIL. I have
been living under their roof for so long and Sumathy is a good friend.
I can not be a traitor to that family." Kalyani says "not just Shanakr, all
of us like you and would love to have you as our DIL. You do not have to
decide in a hurry, take your time..." But Nandhini says that she has made
up her mind -"try and convince your son to marry Sumathi. I leave here
in the hope that you will not spoil my friendship with Sumathi" Kalyani
is skeptical.
Gopal and Jaya - Gopal tells Jaya that he is happy - " we should be
happy that Nandhini gets a nice alliance." Jaya says that she can
not accept -"athai is already very angry with the turn of events. And
if she knows that we accept this, she would be livid." Gopal says that
Nandhini will marry Shankar -" i do not think that any of us can stop it.
Looks like it is God's will!!" Leaves a pensive Jaya " Nandhini kku
nallathaa?" Well, the villain enters - do not know his real or reel name -
has Nandhini's photo and vows -" she is in Chennai, I will sure find her
and marry her..."
