Hi everyone... I am Kuku aka lazy... I am new to this forum... Lately I have been active on Madhubala forum with fanfics... I started watching this show and am loving it... and I couldn't help it, so for the first time I am putting across my review/thoughts on a show. It is pretty long, sorry if I bore you guys.
Arzoo and Zara
I liked Arzoo's equation with her sisters. Zara's selfish attitude is coming across in small- small doses but she always manages to "make amends/try to justify" it quickly. I was getting the feeling that she is selfish and she puts herself before her family. But seeing Arzoo's expression/lack of reaction, she quickly realizes her selfishness and tries to "manofy" Arzoo... so far I don't see her selfishness as a negative attribute. I would rather have her as a slightly selfish girl who makes the right turn at the correct time than be like her mother, who seems to be so selfless that she keeps updating her husband who had apparently walked out on them on all the happy moments in their lives. Zara seems to have slightly taken after her father. who is so far the most selfish/negative person on this show.
It would be interesting to see whether she would be paired opposite Zakhi or she would fall for Sahir.
Arzoo and her father
Just one scene and they have conveyed to us exactly why Arzoo thinks her father is unworthy. His daughter is coming to a new big city for the first time and he is concerned about getting insulted by her than her safety. He wasn't even honest enough to tell Nausheen that he will not be making arrangements for Arzoo at the airport. Instead, he tells her that he would pick her up and does nothing about it indirectly stopping Nausheen from making other arrangements for Arzoo. It is obvious that he neither cares for Arzoo nor Nausheen. He truly doesn't deserve to be a girl's father.
Arzoo and Sahir
Sahir is this big businessman who thinks with his head and doesn't let his heart take control over his decisions. Without any remorse he orders a building to be burned down but when he overhears that Nausheen's job got affected because of that, he stops for a barest of second but before the guilt could take shape, he chucks it out of his mind and walks out. Maybe that is what causes him to walk away without even realizing that he had broken Arzoo's gift. It was like he was running away from a situation that could make him question his decisions.
BUT for such a character, the man has come across polite and "not" arrogant. The reason I am saying this is because when he was called away by the police for accusing him of being a terrorist. For any normal human being, it is a big accusation and they would freak out and react. But Sahir was calm, composed and polite. He didn't scream at them or throw his status around. All he did was calmly asks him whether he has heard of Sayara when the policeman replies in negative, he starts to give him his identification proofs when the minister walks in. again he doesn't complain or order the policeman be suspended like most other soap heroes does, he again calmly explained the situation and in a dignified way walked away in the end without creating a drama. Please note, when I say calm and polite, I meant calm and polite for a man in his position. I loved the way though he was ashamed about his travel arrangements; he told the minister honestly that he was travelling in economy. I really didn't get the car door opening scene, so not going to say anything about it.
For a man who hates good food, he ate for his family in the name of ritual. He didn't eat when his Khaala was trying to force feed him mangoes. It goes to show that he cares for his family. He does things for Alvira whether he likes it or not. He goes for fashion shows, comes for house party when she requests him. She seems to have a certain control over him and he is giving her that control. So far, my reading about Sahir is that, he minds his own business and doesn't let people have any control over him (except for Alvira), only when they try to force him does he bite (example Khaala).
Where Sahir is calm, Arzoo has a temper. I love that for a change it is the heroine with anger issues. I am loving Arzoo's character so far. She is determined, loving, caring, has anger issues and no goody two shoes.
The flight scene, Arzoo starts irritating Sahir the moment he steps into the flight. He is already irritated because of the terrorist and economy issue but he is politely rude to her by ignoring her. I loved how Arzoo after fighting with him, quickly changes her stand and apologies to him when she realizes he is the owner of the window seat.
I loved their plane interaction. It was hilarious and if that scene was any indication of how they would be then it is a delight. Arzoo wanted the window seat. Sahir didn't care where he sat but refuses to give his seat to her. When her polite request was rejected, Arzoo became cunning and he ended up offering his seat to her. Later, he catches her lie and is angry but before he could react further they land. The moment they landed, he puts the whole situation behind him and leaves from there leaving without letting his ego get better of him that a girl tricked him. But next time, he sees her, he is most definitely going to remember it.
Will have to see, if this is how they are going to be, Arzoo politely asks, he refuses and she uses her brains and bring him to her way.
Aanam and Sahir
The scene where Sahir asks Aanam to make arrangements for the money was a clear indication that he knows her well. Sahir is very clear on Aanam. He knows that for her Sayara is everything and he also knows that she is sucking up to him because of his position in the company. And he uses it to his advantage. He without words tells her to make arrangements for money and he will consider her for the promotion. And Aanam knows it and his intentions.
After she had successfully, made arrangements, he is neither surprised nor impressed with her. It is like, he knows her motivations, drive and to what extend she would go to achieve it.
Aanam and Sahir would never be partners even though Aanam would try. It is more going to be like, Sahir using Aanam to his advantage when a common enemy (read Arzoo) arises. She would be more of his pawn than a partner in crime. Aanam would be aware of that but she would dance to his tune for Sayara.
Arzoo and Alvira
I am not sure how genuine Alvira is. I guess, Dadi's (golden) advice to Arzoo about not trusting anyone blindly might be Dadi's misgivings on Alvira's intentions. Dadi is the only one who is concerned about their "good fortune". She feels it is too fast. And it is in fact too fast. Only in rarest of rare cases does a big fashion company take in an intern by seeing a single work of hers.
Alvira is in search of something/someone and hopes to find it. Enters Arzoo. Alvira sees Arzoo's work and along with that, she hears and likes Roshini's answers which she informs her is taught to her by Arzoo. Suddenly, Alvira decides to give a cash prize for the designer and finds out that Arzoo is her friend's daughter. During their interaction, Arzoo tells Alvira that she is Nausheen's daughter. Don't know whether Alvira is aware of Nausheen and Sarfaraz issues and why they are not together, that she doesn't further questions it or show any surprise to such a declaration. It more or less looked like, she was impressed with Arzoo.
Alvira already had a picture on how Arzoo is through Roshini's words, then after her brief interaction with Arzoo she decides Arzoo is the one she is looking for. And she declares "Mujhe Arzoo chahiye" then she goes on to say that she needs Arzoo and Arzoo needs her.
Why Alvira needs Arzoo? Is it as a potential bride for Sahir or Zakhi? Is that why she was eager to present Arzoo to Sahir and the guests at home, making sure that Arzoo look beautiful for the occasion? Or is it solely for Arzoo's talent as a designer? And that is the reason she wants to introduce Arzoo to Sahir? To tell him that Arzoo is the new intern and a bundle of talent?
Is Arzoo Alvira's pawn in her fight with Aanam? Does Alvira think that, Arzoo's talents if developed properly, she could become number one designer, unsettling Aanam's position in the company. Being the innocent that Arzoo is, Alvira is under the impression that she can control Arzoo because she seemed to have a very good idea on Arzoo's character by the second day when Arzoo informs her that her sisters' are excited because she is travelling on plane for the first time, she tells her to never change. Is that the reason? Because, you don't go to a fashion show to find a bride for your son.
Another reason why I feel Alvira doesn't care much for Arzoo is and she didn't bring Arzoo with the intention of getting her married to one of her son is that, she didn't make arrangements to have Arzoo picked up at the airport. Arzoo is coming to Mumbai for the first time, Nausheen tells Alvira that and Alvira promises to care for Arzoo. Seriously, if your bahu is coming for the first time to your city unaccompanied then you make arrangements to get her safely home. For that matter, even your friend's daughter. Alvira didn't do that. She expected Arzoo to find her way to her house but the moment Arzoo is home, she is showering her with love. Maybe that was neglected because of the suitcase fiasco by the CVs, it should have been shown in a different way if Alvira is truly the genuine person she is shown so far to be.
Alvira and Aanam
I am loving this duo because I am not sure who is more evil among these two. Aanam is openly shown as the manipulative one who doesn't care for her good for nothing husband while Alvira seems to have all her cards hidden.
It hasn't been shown whether Alvira is the founder of Sayara or her husband. She tells Nausheen that she runs Sayara fashion house but she needs Sahir's approval to make Zakhi the VP. She has a certain power over Sahir and she knows it. But she also knows that Aanam could play dirty to get that post.
One thing I love about Alvira is that she uses her brain. When Khaala was trying to push her daughter Sameera for Sahir, Alvira understood her intentions but chose to be ignorant of it. So she is smart and knows how to "behave" according to people.
Is Arzoo the new Aanam?
So far we know that Aanam is brilliant at her job and is dedicated to it. Alvira seems to be very proud of her fashion house. Aanam says that Alvira promised her that Aanam will always have the first right to everything in Sayara. Which makes me wonder, Alvira who is shown to be a good mother so far, why would she get her son married to a girl, bribing the girl with positions in the company? It is no secret that Aanam doesn't care for her husband. Was her attitude always like that? If so, then why would Alvira want her son to marry a girl who doesn't care for him but rather cares about their family business more? Which loving mother would want to marry her son off to a materialistic girl? Is it because Alvira is more of a business woman than a mother? Did she see potentials in Aanam a long time ago? Did at some point of time, did Alvira also say "Mujhe Aanam chahiye."?
