[ 7 MONTHS LATER ]
As days passed by,Maahi moved more and more away from her parents.This change was noticed even by Simi and Rajshekhar.During the baby shower ceremony of Indira,Maahi didn't come out of her room.One day,Sameer brought a lot of toys for the new baby but forgot to bring anything for Maahi.He apologized to her and said,"Iam sorry baby,main tumhaare liye kuch bhi nehi la paaya.Tum ek kaam karo,yaha mein se koi ek toy le lo apne liye."Maahi gave a glance to all the toys and replied,"Mujhe koi toy nehi chahiye."Saying she left from there.Sameer asked the servants to take all the toys to their room.Indira asked,"Pata nehi isko ho kya gaya hai??Kyu aise behave kar rahi hai??Na zarurat se zyaada baat karti hai,na hasti hai.Itna chupchap rehti hai ye larki,mujhe to kuch bhi samajhme nehi aa raha hai.Baat karne ki koshish karti hu to saamne se chali jaati hai.Agar kisi baat se gussa hai,to vo mujhe bolti bhi nehi hai.Pehle to har baat share karti thi mujhse pata nehi ab kya ho gaya hai."Indira felt like crying helplessly.Simi and Sameer made her sit on the chair and Sameer said,"Tum itna tension mat lo Indira.Aisi haalat mein itna saara tension achcha nehi hota hai.Abhi 7va mahina chal raha hai tumhaara,please mat karo aisa."Simi replied,"Koi baat nehi Indira,thori der baad jaakar use baat kar lena,main bhi chalungi tumhaare saath,par itna tension mat karo,just relax!!"Indira looked on.After sometime,Indira returned to her room to take rest.But on entering inside,the scene which unfolded in front of her eyes,made her scared so much that she screamed loudly Sameer's name.He came running inside her bedroom followed by Rajshekhar and Simi and they too were shocked on seeing the condition of that room.All the toys were broken and the soft toys were being scratched open in such a brutal way that all the cottons were flying all over the room.He yelled,"Mere room ki ye haalat kisne ki?"Suddenly his eyes fall on Maahi's bedroom and found the door was open.He stormed into Maahi's room and found she was crying sitting on the bed and covering her face on her knees.
Everyone came to Maahi's room and Sameer asked,"Maahi mere room mein ye saare toys tumne tode?"Maahi didn't reply.He angrily asked,"Main tumse kuch puch raha hu Maahi.I want an answer!!"Maahi glared angrily at Sameer and then turned her face away.Indira grabbed her arm angrily and said,"Tune aisa kyu kiya Maahi??Jo tu kehti hai tere papa tere liye lekar aate hai aur aaj ek din kya nehi laaye to tune sab kuch kharaab kar diya??Ye sab beta tere chote bhai ya behen ke liye hi to tha..."Maahi could not tolerate more and yelled,"Mujhe nehi chahiye koi chota bhai ya behen!!Mujhe koi nehi chahiye!!"Indira slowly left her hand being shocked and surprised on hearing her words.Maahi replied,"Mujhe sirf apne mummy papa chahiye aur koi nehi,par aap dono to sirf is naye baby se zyaada pyar karte ho.Isha thik kehti hai,jab ghar mein naya baby aata hai,to sab hume bhul jaate hai.Pehle aap mere liye din bhar bethi rehti thi aur mere school se aane ke baad aap mujhe khaana khilaati thi,par ab aap aisa kuch nehi karti hai.Aap bhi sirf is naye baby se pyar karti hai.Pehle papa mere liye kitna kuch laate the,main agar kuch maangti thi to vo kabhi nehi bhulte the par ab unko sirf naye baby ke baare mein yaad rehta hai,sirf uske liye toys laate hai.Aap dono sirf mere mummy papa hai aur kisike nehi,koi aapko mummy papa nehi bula sakta.I hate the new baby,usne mujhse mere mummy papa cheen liya.Main usko kuch nehi dungi,agar usne meri copy phaari to main usko bohot maarungi.Main usse pyar kabhi nehi karungi.Kabhi bhi nehi!!"She left from there crying badly.Indira dashed on Maahi's bed and was recalling what had Maahi just told.He asked,"Is vajah se vo itna gussa thi??Ye reason tha?"He continued,"But thats not fair!!Usey ye baat samajhni hogi ke jo aa raha hai,vo usika chota bhai ya behen hai,vo hamaara bachcha hai.Hamaare zindagi mein uski bhi priority rahegi.Ye baat usey samajhni paregi.Aise to nehi chal sakta hai."Simi replied,"Isme iski galti nehi hai.Galti tum dono ki hai."Sameer and Indira both were shocked at that accusation.Indira asked,"Hamaari galti?Par humne kya kiya hai?"Sameer said,"Humne kya kiya hai mom??Itna pyar karte hai usse.Its just we are going to have another baby.Jis tarah se Maahi hamaare liye important hai,usi tarah se ye bhi hai.Uske aa jaane se hum Maahi se kam pyar to nehi karenge na."Simi replied,"Main jaanti hu ke tum dono usse bohot pyar karte ho,par Sameer tera kabhi koi saga bhai ya behen nehi tha,isliye tu uski insecurity ko kabhi samajh nehi paayega aur naahi tum Indira kyuki jab Mandira yaani tumhaari choti behen tumhaare zindagi mein aayi,tab already tumhaare do bare bhai the,you were not alone.Par Maahi,vo hamesha akeli thi,usne raaj kiya hai akele,jo tha sab uska tha,ma baap uske,ghar uska,khilone uske sab kuch uska,par achaanak aaj un sab cheezo ko baatne waala is duniya mein aa raha hai.Just uski mentality ko samajhne ki koshish karo."Sameer asked,"Par mom humse galti kaha hui hai?"Simi replied,"Jabse Indira pregnant hui hai,tum dono khud socho ke tum dono ne kya kiya hai??Har ma baap ke liye hone waali bachcha bohot important hota hai par its just that its not your first baby.Tum dono ki ek beti aur hai.Par tum dono ne kya kiya??You both forgot her."Indira asked,"Par ma hum to hamesha uski har zarurat ka khayaal rakhte hai,uske saath kitna time spend karne ki koshish karte hai par vohi chali jaati hai..."Simi said,"Jab actually mein karna chahiye tha tab to kiya nehi na Indira,tab to tum dono aanewaale baby ko lekar busy ho gaye.Kisi bhi ma baap ka pyar apne bachcho ke liye kabhi kam nehi hota hai,par jab usi pyar ko baatne waala aata hai na tab us pyar ko jataana parta hai,usko ehsaas dilaana parta hai ken aye mehmaan ke aane se tum dono ki life mein uski importance kam nehi hogi.Kabhi tum dono ne ye koshish ki??Bari ho rahi hai Maahi,pehle jo samajhti thi,ab dheere dheere samajhne lagi hai.Mujhe to ye baat soch kar hairani hoti hai ke tum dono ne apne honeymoon ka trip jaldi khatam kar liya kyuki Maahi yaha akele hai aur tum dono ko uske bina achcha nehi lagta hai,par is baar jabse Indira pregnant hui hai tum dono akele dinner par jaate ho,akele lunch par jaate ho.Tum dono ek dusre ke saath time spend karte ho bohot achchi baat hai,par abhi sabse zyaada zaruri tha Maahi ke saath waqt bitaana.Usey dheere dheere is naye situation mein adjust karne mein madat karna aur aaj to tune Sameer hadh hi kardi.Aaj tu honewaale bachche ke liye khilone utha kar le aaya aur tune Maahi se kaha usme se ek choose karle.Have you gone mad???Jis larki ne apne ghar mein aane ke baad se lekar abtak,kisi aur ki ke liye laayi hui cheez ko haath tak nehi lagaya,yahatak ke dekha tak nehi tu usey kisi aur ke liye laaya hua khilona offer kar raha hai just because you forgot to bring a toy for her.Jis larki ke kamre ka agar AC 5 minute ke liye bhi bandh par jaaye,to tu naya AC laata tha,jiske khilone mein agar thora sa scratch aa jaaye to tu usey phikwa deta tha,jiska ek bhi kapra agar zara sa phat jaata tha,to tu usey vo kapra pehenne hi nehi deta tha,ye sab to choro,jiske bolne se pehle,yahatak ki jiske ek baar sochne par hi vo cheez uske saamne aa jaati thi,usko tune kisi aur ke samaan mein apna khiona chunne ko kaha??How could you Sameer??"Sameer remained mum.She then said to Indira,"Indira,tumhe to Maahi ke maamle mein kabhi koi galti nehi hoti thi,har cheez perfect tumko yaad rehti thi,phir tum ye kaise bhul gayi ke Maahi ko butter pasand nehi hai.Tum to aksar uska tiffin bhi banana bhul jaati thi and you know what usdin vo canteen mein khaati thi.Ek ma ko apni bachchi ki taklif uske bolne se pehle hi samajhme aa jaati hai,par tumhe pata bhi hai,ke canteen ka khaana khaane ke vajah se vo bimaar par gayi thi?Vo kisiko ye baat nehi bataati agar maine uske kamre mein usey lete aur dard se tarapte huye dekha na hota to.Usne tumhe ye baat nehi bataayi kyuki usne doctor ko ye kehte huye suna tha ke teri tabiyat kharaab hai aur tension tere liye achcha nehi hai.Vo har roz raat ko akele beth kar roti thi,mujhe uski siskiya tak sunaai deti thi.Uske andar itna gussa tha jiske vajah se uska dimaag ye tak tey nehi kar paaya ke usko react kaise karna chahiye,jis vajah se vo apna gussa tak zaaheer nehi kar paayi aur isi vajah se kabhi kabhi bachche galat harkat kar baithte hai aur Maahi ne bhi bilkul aisa hi kiya hai.Har bachche ka gussa dikhaane ka tareeka alag hota hai.Tujhe pata hai apna gussa nikaalne ke liye,garden mein tere saare lagaaye huye paudhe usne tore hai,Sameer ke saare favourate shirt usne iron se jala diye aur aaj to usne saare khilone hi kharaab kar diye.Uske washroom mein jaakar dekh,purey deewar mein ye likha hua hai ke I HATE MUMMY PAPA,I HATE THE NEW BABY,I DON'T WANT THE NEW BABY'.Uske drawing copies kholkar dekho,kitne depressing drawings banaati hai vo.Ek 11 saal ki bachchi,apna khaana khud serve karti hai,apne kaam khud karti hai,usko tum dono ne milkar bachche se adult bana diya.Sirf baith kar baat karne ki koshish karna hi har problem ka solution nehi hota hai,tum dono ko uski har harkat par nazar rakhni chahiye thi.Ek hadh se zyaada over-pampered bachcha,jab achaanak se usko ma baap ki ignorance milti hai to usko kaisa lagta hai,tum dono ko is baat ka andaaza hi nehi hai.You can't even imagine how much your behaviour had traumatized her."She stopped to take some breath and then concluded,"Isse pehle ke maamla itna aagey bar jaaye ke hum sab milkar bhi usko sambhaal na sake aur isse pehle ki vo koi aisa kadam uthaaye jiski sazaa hume zindagi bhar bhugatni pare,kuch karo."Saying she left from there.
Indira and Sameer both were stunned on hearing about Maahi's condition.Indira said,"Itna sab kuch ho raha hai saat mahino se aur mujhe kuch samajh mein hi nehi aaya,pata tak nehi chala mujhe."She opened her drawing book and was thrilled on seeing her drawings.In one picture,a girl was standing at a distance from her parents who were busy playing with a baby.In one drawing,the mother was beating the girl and was pampering the baby.In another picture,the father brought many things for the baby and the girl was standing empty handed.In another picture the girl threw the baby off a cliff.On seeing the last drawing Indira grabbed her stomach.She showed those pictures to Sameer.After that,both checked the washroom and found that the walls are covered with Maahi's handwriting.Out of helplessness,Indira hugged Sameer and said,"Sameer uske andar itna gussa hai ke vo shaayad baby ko...Nehi!!!Main aisa nehi hone dungi.Main bhi kaisi ma hu,apne bachche ka dard main samajh hi nehi paayi,pehle to uska chehra dekh kar hi mujhe sab samajhme aa jaata tha...Ye sab kuch mere vajah se ho raha hai.Ma thik hi kehti hai,bachche ke aane ki khushi mein maine Maahi par dhyaan hi nehi diya."Sameer patted her and replied,"Tum ro mat Indira,isme tumhaari koi galti nehi hai.Galti hum dono ki hai,meri bhi.Tum sahi kehti thi ke bachcho ko kabhi hadh se zyaada laad pyar nehi dena chahiye aur aaj meri isi aadat ke vajah se vo aaj is haal mein hai.Par abhi pachtaane ka waqt nehi hai,abhi hume apni is galti ko sudhaarna hoga."Indira agreed,"Tum sahi keh rahe ho,hume Maahi ko waapas laana hoga,bilkul pehle ki tarah."Both went to search for Maahi.On searching for her,they found her sitting on the cooking basement of the kitchen and having ice-cream silently.Indira tried to go to her but thought against it and decided not to tell her anything now and to deal with her from tomorrow.
Next day,in the morning,there was an appointment with the doctor for Indira's check-up.Sameer and Indira both came to Maahi's room and found her watching TV.Sameer said to her,"Maahi beta chalo ready ho jaao."She replied,"Mujhe kahi nehi jaana."Indira said,"To phir thik hai Sameer jab tak Maahi nehi jaayegi,main bhi doctor ke paas nehi jaaungi."Maahi looked towards her and then at Sameer.He came and sat in front of her and said,"Dekha mummy ne kya kaha??Agar tum nehi jaaogi to mummy bhi doctor ke paas nehi jaayegi aur tum to jaanti ho na ke mummy ki tabiyat kharaab hai.Agar check-up nehi karegi to mummy ki tabiyat aur bhi zyaada kharaab ho jayegi.Ab tum bolo kya karna chahiye??Kya mummy ke liye tum hamaare saath nehi chalogi?"Maahi thought that she should go with them otherwise Indira wouldn't go and she will fall ill which she didn't want.So,unwantedly,she got ready to go with them.After reaching the hospital,they went to the gynaec under whom Indira's delivery had to be done.While the doctor was doing Indira's sonography,Maahi was sitting outside.Indira asked the doctor to call Maahi inside.When Maahi came in,the doctor said,"Hello Maahi!!!"She just smiled and then the doctor,pointed towards the screen and showed her a small baby inside Indira's womb and said,"Pata hai ye kya hai Maahi??Ye tumhaara chota bhai ya behen hai.Dekho kaise saas le raha hai."Mahi saw it with curiosity and then went towards the screen and touched it.She asked,"Main bhi itni hi choti thi?Main bhi TV par aise hi dikhai deti thi."Indira replied,"Ha par tum mujhe itni zor zor se kich maarti thi jaise tumhe abhi ke abhi bahaar nikalna tha,par naya baby to kick hi nehi maarta."Sameer put his hand on her womb and said,"Mmmhmmm nehi maarta."Maahi curiously looked at Indira's baby bump and unmindfully put her hand on it and suddenly she got a shock and removed her hand.Indira excitedly replied,"Dekha!!Baby ne pehli baar kick maara!!"Sameer excitedly said,"Really!!!"He again put his hand on her bump but there was no reaction.He said,"Nehi!!Usne nehi maara!!"The doctor,in an amusing tone said,"Kya baat hai???Mummy ne touch kiya,papa ne touch kiya kuch nehi hua,par jaise hi Maahi ne touch kiya to baby ne kick maara.Lagta hai naya baby apni didi se bohot pyar karta hai."Maahi angrily replied,"Par main usko pyar nehi karti.Vo ganda hai."Saying she ran out of the sonography room.The doctor asked Indira and Sameer to come outside.After that she told them that the condition and growth of the baby is good and delivery will be at the appointed time.Suddenly,Maahi asked,"Ye baby boy hai ya baby girl?"The doctor asked,"Tumhe kya chahiye?"Maahi replied,"Mujhe kuch nehi chahiye,na bhai na behen.Ganda baby!!"Saying she ran out of the cabin.Sameer apologized on Maahi's behalf and said,"Iam sorry doctor vo actually..."The doctor nodded her head and replied,"I can understand,kabhi kabhi second baby hone se aksar pehle bachche insecurity ke vajah se chirchire ho jaate hai.Vo thik ho jaayegi,aap dono ko bas usey thora time dena parega."Both of them nodded their head and then left.On getting inside the car,Sameer said,"Chalo Maahi aaj park mein chalet hai aur usk baad bahaar lunch karenge."Indira said,"Ha ha thik hai,mujhe bhi bohot Chinese khaane ka mann kar raha hai."Maahi just remained quiet and Sameer drove off.
