But then, who put the curse there & why?πŸ˜• Or else, may be the curse is activated only when a non-family member wears it or a non-Slytherin wears itπŸ˜•? Or else, may be the curse is activated when somebody tries to use it as the Hallow-The Resurrection stone, where as both Voldy & Marvolo just wore the ring without knowing that it was a Hallow & using it as such?πŸ˜• Guess I'm just groping in the dark hereπŸ˜› I'm sure JKR has got a sound explanation for this though!πŸ˜ƒ

it could be that the curse is activated if someone tries to use it as the resurrection stone... but then again harry used it before going into the Forbidden Forest... maybe dumbledore had removed the curse after it affected him? πŸ˜•

The ring was the horcrux that was in the least magically protected place physically, so Voldermort may have placed the curse on the ring after it was turned into a horcrux for safe-keeping purposes. That's what I had understood about it. 😊

My guess is that your guess is right ShellyttπŸ˜† Yep,your answer definitely makes perfect senseπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Now I think about it,Gaunt shack definitely lacked the "grandeur & mystique" that other hiding places had; Voldy was convinced that only he knew about the cave & the Room of Requirement & ofcourse he knew that it was impossible to a break in to a Gringotts vault,so like you've so rightly said, the ring definitely had the least security as regards hiding places.

There you go Chhilt,I think Shellytt has hit the nail on the headπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘

What I thought was that the curse must have lifted after Dumbledore wore the ring & it entered his body😊 & that's the reason that Harry wasn't affected when he used it.

But anyway,I think my guess about Cadmus cursing the Hallow is wrong & I'm sure that Shellytt's theory about Voldy putting the curse there is the correct oneπŸ˜ƒ

Thanks. (takes an embarrassed bow)πŸ˜†πŸ˜³

To add to the theory as indicated, the curse was lifted when Dumbledore put the ring on. Like teh locket's protection, Voldermort underestimated whoever is able to retrieve the horcrux. He would have expected instant death (maybe) to the person who tried it. He didn't count on Snape's potion saving Dumbledore long enough to destroy the horcrux, after which the curse would have lifted, because the curse was there to protect the horcrux not the resurrection stone, because at the time Voldermort would not have known what the stone was!πŸ˜•

πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† 🀣🀣That is too funny!!!! I don't think I'm Ravenclaw intelligent. I'm just able to rationalize things a little differently! 🀣
