guys... i was wondering... when harry put the locket horcrux around his neck nothing happened to him... but when dumbledore put on the ring horcrux he would have died if snape hadn't helped him.... so how come one horcrux nearly kills you if you wear it and the others don't?

🤔 Didn't Dumbledore tell Harry that there was a "terrible curse" upon Marvolo Gaunt's ring?

🤔So, in addition to Part of Voldy's soul,it also contained a curse.

🤔So,the reason Dumbledore was dying must have been because that curse entered his body & not due to any effect coming from Voldy's soul fragment, right?

🤔 But,nowhere in the books did it say that the locket or the cup contained curses, right? They just contained parts of Voldy's soul🤢

🤔If you look at it that way, that explains why Dumbledore was hurt due to physical contact with one Horcrux, but no physical harm came to Harry,Ron & Hermione when they wore the locket.

🤔Nevertheless, thelocket Horcrux affected them mentally when wearing it,right? Harry couldn't produce a patronus to fight dementors while wearing it & Ron admitted that his bad moods increased when he was wearing it.😛

Anyway, what I don't understand is,❓why such a deadly curse was upon only one Horcrux ,the ring & ❓if so,was it cast by Voldy or else Marvolo or Morfin before him or their ancestors before them? 😕

🤔It couldn't have been a curse put there when Voldy was making the Horcrux coz, then other Horcruxes should have contained similar curses too.

My guess is this:Ring contained the Resurrection stone, the Hallow that belonged to the 2nd brother,Cadmus Peverell(I think)."Tale of the Three brothers" said that he went mad with grief in the end because his fiancee (whom he had brought back from the dead using the stone) was distanced from him & so he killed himself so as to truly join her. So,my guess is that he must have cursed the Resurrection stone because it failed to give him his heart's desire & he must have felt cheated by it & so it is that curse which the ring contained which must have ultimately brought about Dumbledore's death😭

😛p.s: I know it is all far-fetched & wild guess work,but that's the best I can do😆

it's a good theory, but then how come voldemort and marvolo were able to wear it and not get hurt if cadmus placed a curse on the ring? 😕 anyway you're the only who tried to help so thanks a lot! 😊

My pleasure Chhilt😃 Anyway, that's a very astute observation on your part👏👏👏 Yeah,I see the gaping hole in my "theory" now😆😆😆 I never thought of that! But then, who put the curse there & why?😕 Or else, may be the curse is activated only when a non-family member wears it or a non-Slytherin wears it😕? Or else, may be the curse is activated when somebody tries to use it as the Hallow-The Resurrection stone, where as both Voldy & Marvolo just wore the ring without knowing that it was a Hallow & using it as such?😕 Guess I'm just groping in the dark here😛 I'm sure JKR has got a sound explanation for this though!😃

My guess is that the curse was put by Voldermort to protect the horcrux, similar to the liquid in the stone basin. The ring was the horcrux that was in the least magically protected place physically, so Voldermort may have placed the curse on the ring after it was turned into a horcrux for safe-keeping purposes. That's what I had understood about it. 😊

No, the locket that Harry and Dumbledore retrieved from the cave was fake, the real one was the one they got from Umbridge when they broke into the ministry.
