Well, as everyone has mentioned...it's not a blooper...JK Rowling has hardly left any bloopers in the whole series....I remember one in the very first book, in Harry, Ron & Hermione's first meeting Hermione says, "I've practiced a few spells at home and they work for me"

How can she practice magic? Her parents are muggles, wouldn't the underage magic law work then? I mean, I know Hermione is not supposed to know the rule by then, but shouldn't any of the ministry official go and warn her telling that she's not supposed to?

Just my thought, tell me what you think...😃

actually, hermione said the following, " I've tried a few simple spells just for practice and it's all worked for me." this probably means that she tried the spells on the hogwarts express.... students are allowed to use magic on the train.... hope that clears your doubt 😃

...the ministry rules r only for underage wizards who attend the school.......I fink ...other wise how did they nvr knew about ariana[dumbledore's sister) whose magic use to go out of control sumtimes.......its just a guess but i fink tht only wizards or witch who r registerd by the ministry can b traced for magic as long as they r underage...😃

I was reading book 4 and I think I found a blooper.

At the end of the book, when Harry and the rest were going back to the train at the end of summer, they were waiting for the horseless carriages to take them to the train.

Now no mention was made when they arrived, but from all indications it appeared as though, Harry still only saw horseless carriages and not the thestrals. (seing that the conversation on the train was not about the new development and also that he saw them for the first time in the fifth book).

But given that he had already experienced Cedric's death, shouldn't he have seen the thestrals 😕 ?

Anyone has any explanation for the "blooper" in book 4 or did I actually come across an oversight in the books!? 😲

maybe Harry just didn't notice the thestrals as he was feeling rather sad about Cedric's death... anyway that's the only thing i can come up with!

I rememeber reading in one website(maybe "Mugglenet") that some fan had actually asked a similar question from JKR.I think the question that person had asked is that since Harry must have seen the death of his mother & also possibly his father(this had been asked before the 7th book was released) he should have been able to see Thestrals from his first day at Hogwarts. If I remember right,JKR's answer had been that in order to see Thestrals the realisation of death should "sink-in" I think what she must have meant was that you should actually feel it deeply.Ok,so Harry was too small to realise that his parents were dead at that time. But then given the fact that Harry had witnessed Cedric's death & he was actually even feeling somewhat responsible for it since he had told Ced to take the cup with him,Cedric's death would have sunk in to him enough for him to be able to see the Thestrals at the end of his 4th year.
