The Wedding

She looked radiant. With her vivid red hair framing her face and cascading down her back, her green eyes holding his own as she walked down the isle to him, James felt his heart stop. She looked breathtakingly beautiful to him and his heart swelled with pride, with the knowledge that she had chosen him.

Lily Evans was to be his wife on this day. It seemed as if the planets had aligned to form the perfect atmosphere for this wedding. The sun was setting to welcome a new night and a new union. Standing at the front of the isle, with Sirius at his side and the woman he loved walking towards him, James knew in his heart of hearts that a more perfect moment in time could not have been written.

His eyes held hers as she walked to him, as though there were nowhere else to look. Those captivating eyes on that beautiful face, with skin like porcelain, like a lily really, just like her name. James was unaware that he was holding his breath, until he held her hands, and the breath of life came back to him. This is it he thought. There would be nothing as worthwhile in his life as this moment.

His future began here, in this tiny town, where his past lay. Godric's Hollow was beautiful and sacred to him. Lily would make it blissful now. As he stood there, with his best friend at his side, and a few select friends and family in attendance, he vowed to keep her safe and happy, to love and cherish this woman for the rest his days, a promise that James willingly took and wholeheartedly meant.

As she looked at him and vowed to love him forever, James felt his spirit sore. Love like this is incomparable and indescribable, and James knew that her voice and smile at that moment would remain with him forever.

Yet, although her eyes were filled with love and happiness, he knew that her heart ached for a lost friendship. A friendship which James would never understand. Her best friend was not here. He would never have been able to witness Lily marry the man he loathed. Lily would never reveal how much that absence at the most perfect day in her life had grieved her, but James knew. He knew that the path that Snape had taken in life, had torn at Lily's very soul. And though it angered James, to even think about that man on his wedding day, it hurt him more, knowing that the same thought tugged at Lily's heart. For though Snape had joined the ranks of He who must not be named, Lily still remembered the child of her youth, who introduced her to this world, and would always carry that memory. And James knew, although he was sure he would never admit it, that Lily's sympathy and caring for Snape, made James love her even more. His bride, his wife, his love, his life.

Thanks, I fixed it! 😊I always thought it was red but was never sure if it was just my imagination or if I had read it in the books.😆
