Nick Moran's Potter scenes too gory

(UKPA) ' 3 hours ago

Nick Moran has revealed that some of his scenes in the new Harry Potter were cut because they were too gory.

The actor-director plays evil villain Scabior, a snatcher from Fenrir Greyback's gang of werewolves, in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

"The scenes I did were really, really dark, really, really dark, but when I went to see them they cut some of the worst bits out, and I was talking to producer David Heyman, saying, 'Oh no, why's that gone?' He said, apparently it was like watching Saw," Nick told Absolute Radio DJ Christian O'Connell.

Nick - who is promoting his second directorial effort, The Kid, starring Natascha McElhone - has enjoyed being part of the final Harry Potter film, which will be released in two parts.

"It's been brilliant. I'm the new baddie in the Harry Potter film. I can't really give too much away - it's hilarious, because your script has a watermark in it," he recalled.

"It says a number, which is on every page, so that if you lose it, everyone knows it was you. So it's all top secret."

:: The Kid is in cinemas now.

WTF? So it is apparently okay for kids to read these violent tidbits but not okay for them to watch them onscreen? Amazing logic. And no, HP fans don't only consist of small children. For too long HP movie series had been geared towards the children (and hence all these cutting, trimming and toning down things) despite the fact that the books became darker and more mature by each new installment; it's high time they stop worrying so much about what the "little kids" think (who, by the way, have no quarries reading these same books) and do something worthwhile. I had high expectations from the movie, judging by the trailers, but now I don't know what to feel. I hope, really hope beyond hopes that this movie rocks the world and creates an...Oscar buzz. Oh well, wishful thinking for now. 😆

I reckon it's Warner Bros. trying to be on the safe side by removing anything that could earn it a possible R rating, so that parents don't hesitate to allow their kids to watch it. David Heyman said at the HBP premiere last year that they would make sure the rating of an HP film didn't go beyond PG-13. Of course it's pretty paranoid seeing how dark the final book itself is, but anyway that's how major film studios work! 😆

Though judging by the test screening reports, we're still gonna have a fair share of disturbing moments in the film anyway so I just hope they don't trim it too much on the editing table. Looking forward to the new trailer!

If somebody had read the book already then I don't think there is any problem in watching the movie.....after all everything that has been written in the book can't be portrayed exactly in the cinema....there is surely going to be several small changes.......The seventh book is itself very dark and is full of actions......just to make us see the actions but side-by-side not exceed the time limit, the cinema has been divided into two parts........I don't think the cinema will harm the kids in any way....they see a lot of such thinks in Cartoon Network, animax and all.......they might also have imagined several actual scenes of Harry Potter in their own head....several cinemas are coming out which are full of violence and several children see it when there parents are not around......they are quite familiar with the things around.......well, that's my personal feelings and thoughts....might differ from the rest of you.........
