Chapter 27

Gulaal could feel the force of the car hitting the tree though it was softened due to the airbag. She quickly looked to her side and is shocked to see Kesar with his eyes closed. Panic grips her heart. After a long effort and lot of pain she is successful in getting out of the car and reach Kesar's side. She tries hard to open the door but it is stuck. Thankfully some good Samaritans come over and help her in opening the door and they are successful in getting Kesar out of the car. Kesar looked pale and Gulaal is terrified to see a deep gash on his forehead."Kesar,Kesar aankhen kholo Kesar",Gulaal screams out holding his face. She becomes hysterical "please Kesar,ek baar mere liye apni aankhen kholo,Kesar'..Kesar". The people around her try to help her as she too had some injuries but Gulaal refuses to leave Kesar's side. Soon an ambulance arrives and they both are taken to the hospital. Throughout the ride Gulaal holds on to Kesar's hand tightly, her eyes closed in silent prayer.

When they reach the hospital, one of the doctors comes over and checks Kesar. Gulaal tearfully asks him "Doctor,Kesar theek tho ho jaayega na.please aap kuch bhi karke mere Kesar ko bilkul theek kar dijiye.Please doctor", and then she starts to cry. The doctor is a little taken aback and calmly assures her "dekhiye aap apne aap ko sambhaaliye.mujhe pehle inka jaanch tho karne dijiye.waise chot tho aap ko bhi aayi hai.main nurse se keh detha hoon.woh''.". Gulaal interrupts in a determined tone "nahi doctor.mujhe kuch nahi hua.aap pehle Kesar ko dekhiye.ek baar woh aankhen kholkar muskuraade phir sab theek ho jaayega". The doctor understands her worry and quietly says "aap chintha math kijiye.hum aap ke pati ka khayaal rakhenge.lekin aapko apna bhi khayaal rakhna chahiye.warna jab aap ke pati theek ho jaayenge tho shaayad hum par naaraaz honge". He gives her a small smile and asks one of the nurses to check on her. The doctor gives a small nod to her and goes inside the examination room to check on Kesar. Gulaal who had been holding up till now suddenly feels her strength ebb away. She feels the room spinning around her and before the nurse could reach her she falls down unconscious.

"Gulaal", she hears Kesar's strong voice and turns around to find him standing there in front of her hale and hearty. She runs towards him and hugs him tightly for a few moments. She moves back and lightly runs her fingers over his forehead which is no longer bloodied. She lets out a happy cry and lets her hands run all over his face lovingly quietly whispering "tum theek ho Kesar.tumhe kuch nahi hua.kitna daraa diya tha mujhe.aisa kyun karthe ho Kesar?" Gulaal hides her face in his chest and hits him lightly "agar tumne phir kabhi aisa kiya na tho main tumhe nahi chodungi.samjhe tum" she doesn't hear Kesar's reply and so she looks up and to her shock Kesar is not there. She looks around and there is fog everywhere. She gets scared and screams "Kesar,tum kahaan ho?kahaan chale gaye mujhe chod kar? Kesar''..Kesar". Gulaal wakes up and for a second she is disoriented. She looks around and finds that she is still in the hospital. She had been having a nightmare. She wipes the sweat off her face "Hey Bhagwaan, please Kesar ki raksha karna.mujhe jaa kar dekhna chahiye.shaayad use ab tak hosh aa gaya hoga". She tries to get up and walk but due to weakness she is not able to and almost lands on the floor. Luckily before she could fall she feels someone support her. She looks up to find her father "Gulaal,tu abhi kamzor hai.tu kahaan jaa rahi thi?tu baith beta.thoda aaram kar le".

Gulaal starts crying "baapji,woh Kesar'..Kesar kaisa hai?use hosh aaya kya?main use dekhna chahthi hoon baapji'.."

Revji: "beta,haan dekh lena lekin abhi nahi.tum jab theek ho jaaogi tab chale jaana.ab aaram kar Gulaal". Gulaal who had been given some strong medication is feeling very tired and drowsy and as soon as she lies down goes to sleep still muttering "lekin Kesar'..Kesar'theeek tho ho jaayega na baapji.Kesar'''". Just then Poonamba comes in and she is about to speak when Revji gestures her to be silent. Revji pats his daughter's forehead lovingly and leaves the room with Poonam ba.

Poonamba: "Gulaal ko hosh aaya kya?woh theek tho hai na?aap ne usse baat ki?"

Revji: "chintha math kijiye Poonam.Gulaal bas thodi kamzor hai.woh jald hi theek ho jaayegi.maine doctor se baat kar li hai.darne ki koi baat nahi.aap Kesar ko dekhne gayi thi na.Kaisa hai woh'..".

"Revji",Motaba's voice stops him and he turns around "arre Soma,main bas Kesar ke baare mein hi pooch raha tha.Kaisa hai woh?Doctor ne kya kaha?"

Motaba: "woh ab theek hai.shaayad kuch hi der mein hosh bhi aa jaayega.lekin agar thodi aur der ho jaati use hospital lane mein tho shaayad complications ho sakti thi'..", he breaks down in front of his friend. Revji quickly rushes over and supports him. Motaba continues "agar Kesar ko kuch ho jatha tho main jeete jee mar jaata.ek bte ko kho hi chuka hoon ab doosre bte ko kho detha tho shaayad main yeh seh nahi paaunga".

Revji tries to comfort him and says "dekho Soma, Maavdi ki kripa se Kesar ab khatre se baahar hai.aur woh jaldi theek ho jaayega.tu fikr math kar.agar tu himmat haarega tho Panba ko kaun sambhaalega?haan?"

Motaba wipes his tears and replies "tu theek keh raha hai?Gulaal kaisi hai ab?use zyaada chot tho nahi aayi".

Revji: "nahi woh theek hai.bas thodi kamzori hai.lekin woh Kesar ko lekar kaafi pareshaan thi".

Motaba with a small sad smile on his face "pareshaan tho hogi hi na".

Revji and Poonam ba look at him with surprise and a small conversation takes place (which the readers are not privy to.Sorry😭)

Gulaal opens her eyes and is surprised to find the room so dark with just a small light on.She realizes that it's night time. She had slept off for a very long time but now she felt much better. She looks around to find her mother sleeping on the couch to her side. She decides "abhi acha mauka hai.mujhe koi nahi rokega.main jaa kar Kesar ko dekh sakti hoon".She quietly gets up from the bed, opens the door and goes out to check on Kesar. Luckily she finds Kesar's room without any trouble because she had seen Dushyantji come out of a room and going out for a walk. She smiles and goes towards the room. She enters the room and locks it behind her. She looks at Kesar who looked so peaceful with his eyes closed. Gulaal smiles through her tears and she bends over him lightly kissing him on the forehead which is now covered with a bandage. She caresses his cheek lovingly and gives him a gentle kiss. She sits beside him on the bed and holds his hand firmly and whispers quietly "mujhe maaf kardo Kesar.main bahut buri hoon.tumhe maine kitna sataya aur woh bhi apne mann ke ek stupid wehem ke kaaran.mere dhyaan mein yeh bikul nahi aaya ki agar main tumhare saath ke bagair itni akeli aur khaali mehsoos kar rahi hoon tho tumhe bhi tho yehi darr satha raha hoga.maine socha ki tum apni aanewaali zindagi mein kaamiyaabi paakar khushi paa loge .lekin main yeh bhool gayi thi ki agar zindagi mein khushi hi na ho tho phir kaamiyaabi ka kya faayda?aur hum dono ki khushi tho ek doosre se judi hui hai na Kesar.mujhe patha tha ki ki mere is barthaav se tumhe kitni chot pahunchegi,phir bhi main ek pathardil ki tarah tumhe sataathi rahi,tumhe tadpathi rahi.mujhe please maaf kardo Kesar.main promise karti hoon Kesar ki aage se jo tum kaho ge main wohi karungi.tumhari har baat sunoongi aur har baat maanoongi.kabhi tumse jhagda bhi nahi karungi.bas tum ek baar apni aankhen khol kar mujhe dekh lo Kesar". She is unable to say anything more and kisses his hand which is now completely wet because of her tears.

"tum '.tum'.sach mein meri har '.baat maanogi na'..kahin phir se jhoot tho nahi bol'rahi", Gulaal is startled to hear Kesar's feeble voice and raises her head to look at him. She finds him looking at her with a smile on his face. He repeats "tumne jawaab'..nahi diya Gulaal.tum sach keh rahi ho na phir mana math karna'." Gulaal holds his face in her hands and she says in an excited voice"Kesar''tum ''.tum theek ho gaye.mere paas waapis aa gaye.tumne mujhe daraa diya Kesar.agar tumhe kuch ho jaatha tho main'.tho main'.." Kesar stops her from speaking further "shhh''ab ro math Gulaal.main theek hoon.aur waise bhi'.. tumhe chodkar main kahaan jaa sakta hoon?", he brings her hand to his lips,kisses it gently and says "tumne ab bhi jawaab nahi diya Gulaal". Gulaal gives him a shy smile and comes very close to him and looking straight into his eyes says in a quiet but firm voice "main tumhari har baat maanoongi,tumhe kabhi nahi sathaaungi,tumse kabhi jhagda nahi karungi,theek hai". Kesar laughs feebly "acha tum kabhi '..jhagda nahi karogi.yeh baat kuch hazam nahi hui.dekhna thodi hi der mein tum mujhse'..". Gulaal stops him from speaking any further by placing a finger on his lips and says "bas ab aur baat nahi.tumhe aaram ki zaroorat hai.tum aise baat karte rahoge tho thak jaaoge.isliye.so jaao.please". Kesar smiles mischieviously and imitates zipping up his mouth shut and throwing away the imaginary key. Gulaal is about to say something when they hear a sound at the door.

Someone was trying to open the door but could not as it is locked. Gulaal gets up quickly and says "oh shaayad Dushyantji honge.patha nahi mujhe yahaan dekh kar woh kya sochenge'." She is about to go towards the door when Kesar holds her hand and looks at her questioningly. Gulaal understands the reason and replies with a smile "nahi Kesar,ab mujhe koi darr nahi.main tumse pyaar karti hoon aur yeh baat main kisi ke saamne bhi maan sakti hoon.lekin bas ab Dushyantji ko thoda awkward lagega na isliye ghabraa rahi thi". Kesar is relieved and loosens his hold. Gulaal opens the door and to her surprise Dushyant does not seem shocked to see her here.

Dushyant: "mujhe laga tha ki shaayad aap hi hain". He understands Gulaal's confusion and replies "acha aap soch rahi hain ki main hairaan kyun nahi hoon.woh mujhe Talli ne bathaaya''.."

Gulaal is slightly embarrassed but Dushyant quickly reassures "main aap donon ke liye bahut khush hoon. Aap ko Kesar se acha jeevan saathi nahi mil sakta Gulaal.mujhe poora yakeen hai ki aap dono ek doosre ke saath bahut khush rahenge". Gulaal smiles a little and she looks back at Kesar who had fallen asleep by now.

Gulaal: "Thank you Dushyantji.ab main chalti hoon.aap Kesar ka khayaal rakhiyega please" and she quietly leaves the room.

The next morning Gulaal is given permission to leave the hospital but Kesar needed to spend 1 more day under observation. Gulaal comes to visit Kesar but is not able to talk properly as the entire family is present. Rewa comes over and gives Gulaal a tight hug and says "Thank God tum theek ho.bas ab jaldi se Roopa ki shaadi ke baad ghar aa jaao.hum sab tumhe bahut miss kar rahe hain".

Gulaal: "main bhi sab ko bahut miss kar rahi hoon Rewa".

Rewa whispers "sabko yaa phir kisi khaas ko" and laughs gently.

Gulaal doesn't stop herself this time and smiles happily looking at Kesar who is being ambushed by Panba and Jamna kaki. He looked at her helplessly even though she knew that he was actually enjoying the pampering and attention.

Gulaal has to leave soon and she does so reluctantly. She did not want leave Kesar but Revji and Poonam ba had lot of work left to do before Roopa's wedding which was to take place after 3 days. She thinks in her mind "main kal ghar jaa kar usse mil loongi". But she is not able to do as Revji and Poonamba think it best for her to take rest at home.She tries calling him up and Rewa picks it up. Gulaal is instantly worried and is about to launch into a barrage of questions when Rewa quickly answers "Gulaal,pareshaan math ho.woh so raha hai.main uske paas baithi thi isliye phone uthaya". Gulaal calms down and takes a huge breath "main bas usse baat karna chahthi thi".

Rewa: "mai samajh sakti hoon.mujhe bahut khushi hai tum donon ke beech jo bhi galat fehmi thi sab door ho gayi".

Gulaal: "I am so sorry Rewa.tumne meri madadh karni chahi aur maine us din tumhare saath bhi theek se baat nahi ki.mujhe maaf kar do Rewa".

Rewa: "Gulaal,kya tum maafi leke baith gayi.acha ek minute,Kesar uth gaya main use phone dethi hoon.theek hai.apna khayaal rakhna Gulaal aur shaadi par milte hain.bye".

Gulaal: "bye Rewa", and then she hears the phone being shuffled around with some muffled voices in the background. She knew Rewa must be teasing Kesar and he in turn would be feeling irritated. "Hello Gulaal", she knew her suspicions were true as soon as she heard his irritated voice on the phone and she is unable to stop a laugh. Kesar is confused and replies "tum hans kyun rahi ho?

Gulaal: "kuch nahi.ab tumhe kaisa lag raha hai Kesar?tumhe dard tho nahi ho raha".

Kesar sighs deeply "hmmm'dard bilkul nahi.jab bhi pain mehsoos hotha hai na main bas tumhe yaad kar letha hoon aur patha nahi kaise, saara dard gaayab ho jatha hai".

Gulaal smiles over the phone and Kesar could feel her happiness "acha tho tum kab aa rahi ho mujhse milne?"

Gulaal's smile vanishes and she replies in a small voice "lagta hai ab tho shaadi ke din hi mulaakat ho paayegi. Aaj aana chahthi thi lekin baapji ne kaha ki mujhe ghar mein rehkar rest karna chahiye.aur phir ghar mein bahut kaam hai.main yeh sab chodke aa bhi tho nahi sakti.tum samajh rahe ho na Kesar and please mujhse naaraz math ho jaana ab".

Kesar senses her anxiety and replies back in a gentle voice "nahi Gulaal,main samajh sakta hoon.maine bas aise hi pooch liya".

Gulaal: "Kesar kya tumhe wajah nahi jaan ni ki maine yeh sab kyun kiya?main kyun tumse door bhaagthi rahi?"

Kesar sighs "sach kahoon Gulaal agar tum yehi sawaal mujhse kal accident se pehle poochthi tho mera jawaab haan hotha.main paagal ho raha tha ki aisi kaun si wajah hai jis ke liye tum mujhe apne aap se alag kar rahi ho?lekin ab mujhe koi farak nahi padta Gulaal,honestly.tum mere paas ho, mere liye wohi kaafi hai.aur phir hamaare paas ab poori zindagi padi hai.kabhi fursat mein batha dena ki tumne aisa kyun kiya.theek hai".

Gulaal feels very happy and replies "Kesar'.tum bahut ache ho.aur maine kitna tadpaaya tumhe'..mujhe maaf kardo Kesar".

Kesar: "mujhe na tumhari maafi mein koi interest nahi hai".

Gulaal: "tho phir'."

Kesar: "tumhe bas mujhse yeh vaada karna hoga ki aage se tum mujhse har baat share karogi.kuch bhi nahi chipaaogi.tum yeh kabhi nahi bhulogi ki main sab se pehle tumhara acha dost hoon.ok"

Gulaal: "haan baba ok".

And as the conversation continues the flirting and the smiles also linger on''..

Finally the day of Roopa's marriage is upon them. Everyone in Gulaal's family is very happy and and excited, at the same time there is a tinge of anxiety and sadness in the air thinking about Roopa's eventual bidaai. Gulaal is also feeling the mood affect her "Roopa ko maine us din samjhaa tho diya lekin ab mujhe kaafi ghabraahat ho rahi hai.please Bhagwaan meri behen ki zindagi mein kabhi koi dukh na aaye.woh hamesha khush rahe.bas yehi dua karti hoon aap se.shaayad agar Kesar paas hotha tho mere dil ki baat samajh letha". Suddenly her phone starts ringing and to her surprise it is Kesar on the other end.

Kesar: "Good morning Gulaal,tho kya kar rahi thi?mere baare mein soch rahi thi na?"

Gulaal: "you know,main tumhare baare mein hi soch rahi thi.tum bas jald se jald mere paas aa jaao".

Kesar gets a little worried and says in a serious tone "kya hua Gulaal,koi tension hai kya?"

Gulaal is touched by his concern "nahi Kesar bas aaj achanak ehsaas ho raha hai ki Roopa hum sab ko chod kar bahut door jaa rahi hai.isliye thoda emotional feel kar rahi thi".

Kesar: "arre Gulaal,tum yeh socho na ki tumhari behen apni nayi zindagi mein kitni khush hogi.phir dekhna tumhe khushi hogi aur jo bhi chote mote worries hain woh sab tho tum mujhe dekjte hi bhool jaaogi.isliye ab smile.tum abhi tak tayyar nahi hui hogi na.mujhe patha hai,saare kaam karte karte itni ulajh gayi hogi ki apne baare mein socha hi nahi hoga.ab jaldi jaao ache se tayyar ho jaao.theek hai.main phone rakhta hoon.see you soon Gulaal".

Gulaal smiles and replies "bye Kesar", and cuts the phone. Kesar had been absolutely correct in his assumptions. She had been so busy in the wedding preparations since early morning that she had not yet got ready. Seeing Roopa in her shaadi ka joda had made her very emotional and she successfully made an escape before anyone, especially her sister saw her tears. But right now Kesar's phone call had made her feel all better and she decides to dress up quickly. It takes her only 15 minutes to get dressed and the timing is absolutely perfect as Poonamba comes in to let her know about Motaba and family's arrival. Gulaal is excited as rushes to welcome them. She spots Motaba,Panba,Dushyantji,Talli and Rewa soon enough along with her father and her eyes find Kesar standing there to the side staring at her with his mouth wide open. He was looking very cute today with his floppy hair falling over his eyes and she understood he did it to hide the bandage on his forehead. But the hairstyle made him look younger than his age and there was an innocent appeal about him today. Gulaal noticed many of the girls trying to get a good look at him and though she did not like it, she just did not care as she knew Kesar had eyes only for one and that was her. She smiles and goes to Motaba and Panba and takes their blessing "main bahut khush hoon ki aap log yahaan aaye".

Motaba: "beta,ghar ki shaadi hai tho hum kaise na aate.Panba aur maine milke socha tho humein yehi sahi laga aur phir mere dost ko meri zaroorat bhi tho hai,hai na Revji".

Revji: "Gulaal,main Soma se yehi keh raha tha.acha hua ki aap dono ne apna faisla badal diya.main bahut khush hoon.acha ab chaliye andar chalte hain".

Everyone follows Revji inside except for Kesar who is still staring at Gulaal. She notices this and comes closer to him "kesar apna mooh bandh kar warna makhi andar chali jaayegi" and laughs out loud.

Gulaal's sweet laughter breaks his trance like state. The moment he had laid eyes on Gulaal-he was lost. She was wearing the saree that he had gifted her. She had left her hair open and a beautiful kundan set adorned her neck and ears with matching bangles on her delicate wrists, but what drew him towards her was her smile-the smile which he feared he had lost forever. That wonderful, bright, mesmerising smile was back on her face and no one was happier than him. He smiles sheepishly but tries hard to defend himself "ab tum itni sundar lag rahi ho aaj tho main kya karoon.waise tum hamesha hi sundar lagti ho par aaj is sari mein bahut achi lag rahi ho.tumhe mujhe warn karna chahiye tha na tho main zara prepared hotha warna phir yehi haal hoga mera".

A blush spreads across Gulaal's face and she whispers in a low voice "tum bhi aaj bahut ache lag rahe ho Kesar.yahaan pe saari ladkiyan bas tumhe hi dekh rahi hain".

Kesar whispers back "acha,arre mera hi bad luck hai.ab tho bahut der ho gayi na warna kisi achi si shaant ladki ko pata sakta tha.par ab tho tumse hi kaam chalaana padega".

Gulaal gives him a stern look but is unable to keep it up and she breaks into a smile. They keep talking and go on to join the family.

Soon the marriage ceremony starts and during the kanyadaan ceremony everyone gets slightly emotional especially Gulaal, Yogesh and her parents. Kesar notices this and when Gulaal looks at him,he gently reassures her silently through his eyes. Gulaal gives him a watery smile and proceeds to support her parents. Finally when the panditji says "vivaah sampan hua", everyone expresses their joy by clapping and some enthusiastic friends of the groom even whistle. Kesar feels happiness envelop him to see Gulaal so enthusiastic and lively. He wanted to talk to her alone but she is too busy and so Kesar decides to wait for the right time to approach her. He goes on to mingle with the other guests and has a great time. After sometime he hears Gulaal's laughter near him and looks around to find her smiling with Durgesh. His smile vanishes for a second but then to his surprise he realizes that he did not mind anymore. He goes over to them and takes the effort to get to know Gulaal's childhood friend. Gulaal is amazed at Kesar's behaviour but she understands his feeling perfectly. They both share a look and a smile and even Durgesh can't help but notice the strong chemistry between them.

Gulaal gets busy with attending to the guests and their needs. Soon the guest start leaving one by one. In between Poonam ba asks her to get something from her room upstairs. As she is going to her parent's room she feels someone pull at her wrist and she finds herself being dragged into her room. She looks up and just as she had suspected,it's Kesar.

Gulaal: "Kesar,phir se mujhe daraa diya.yeh na tumhari aadat banthi jaa rahi hai".

Kesar pulls her close to him and puts his arms loosely around her waist and says in a husky voice"main kya karoon Gulaal tumhe is tarah daraana mujhe bahut acha lagta hai'aur mujhe patha hai ki tumhe bhi acha lagta hai.", and he gives her a small smirk.

Gulaal pushes against his chest "acha,tumhe tho mere baare mein ab sab kuch patha hai.theek hai tab tho tumhe yeh bhi patha hona chahiye ki agar main jaldi neeche nahi gayi tho baa mujhe doondhti hui upar aa jaayengi".

Kesar tightens his hold on her "tho aane do.waise tum pichli baar bhi mujhe chakma dekar nikal gayi.lekin is baar main tumhe itni aasani se jaane nahi doonga.aur phir yaad hai na tumne mujhse vaada kiya hai ki tum meri har baat maanogi".

Gulaal blushes and says in a small voice "haan yaad hai.tho bolo mujhe kya karna hoga?"

Kesar gets a mischievious glint in his eyes as he pretends to think "hmmm sochne do.karne ko tho bahut kuch hai lekin abhi ke liye ek kiss chal jaayega".

Gulaal looks at him suspiciously and replies "uske baad tum mujhe jaane doge na".

Kesar comes closer to her and she could feel his warm breath in her ear as she hears him whisper "haan agar tum jaana chaho tho main nahi rokunga".

Gulaal shivers a little and shyly replies "theek hai". She steps closer to him and very shyly places a light kiss on his lips but as soon her lips touch his, she feels something change inside her. Of course she had kissed him before. Actually she had been the one to initiate their first kiss. But this was different, it felt familiar yet there was a tinge of something new, something exciting that she would not be able to stop even if she wanted to. As the kiss continues she finds her arms snake around his neck almost of their own accord. She lets her fingers play with his hair and at the same time she feels his hands explore her back slowly. She is swept up in all these unknown, new emotions that she is experiencing for the first time. She is quite close to him but feels the need to be closer and so tightens her arms around his neck. Suddenly Kesar feels a sharp pain on his neck due to the injury he sustained in the accident. He loosens his hold on Gulaal and his hand instinctively moves upto his neck as he moves back slowly. Gulaal, who is a little dazed slowly comes back to reality and is confused to find Kesar trying to ease her arms from around his neck. Kesar looks at her sheepishly "sorry Gulaal, mere neck mein mocha a gayi thi na,woh abhi tak poori tarah se theek nahi hui". Gulaal instantly becomes alert and quickly checks his neck. She is embarrassed beyond words but says hesitantly "Kesar,I am so sorry.patha nahi''mujhe'..kya ho gaya tha.main tho hosh hi kho baithi.meri wajah se tumhe phir dard sehna pada na",and she looks down tearfully. Kesar quickly holds her chin and looks straight in her eyes "hey,phir kabhi aisa math kehna.tumhara tho patha nahi lekin mujhe bahut acha laga ki tum apna hosh kho baithi.aur yeh dard tho main baar baar mehsoos karna chahunga". Gulaal hits him lightly on the arm and says "Kesar,tum na bilkul besharam ho gaye ho.ab chalo humein chalna chahiye '..",and she moves toward the door to open it. Kesar steps behind her and holds her hand firmly stopping her effectively from opening the door. He rests his chin on her shoulder as his other hand tightens around her waist holding her in place "itni jaldi bhi kya hai Gulaal,bas thodi aur''" Gulaal replies shakily "tum paagal ho gaye ho Kesar.ab agar main neeche nahi gayi na tho baa ko pakka shak hojaayega ki kuch gadbad hai.Please Kesar jaane do na tum ne kaha tha ki''.."

Kesar turns her around and presses her against the door. He says in a a very quiet tone "theek hai.main tumhe jaane doonga bas ek baar aur kehdo ki tum sach mein kya chahthi ho?jaana chahthi ho yaa phir mere saath yahin''..". He slowly trails his finger along the side of her face moving back some of her hair which had fallen on her face when he had turned her around. Kesar smiles as he looked at Gulaal's face. Her eyes were closed, her lips were quivering and a faint blush made her face look all the more attractive. He looked down and is amused to find her nails digging into his arms. He comes closer to her face and whispers "aankhen kholo Gulaal aur mere sawaal ka jawaab dho". Gulaal opens her eyes slowly and Kesar's smile disappears when he sees her desire for him reflect in her eyes. He tightens his arms around her and asks once again in an intense voice "aakhri baar pooch raha hoon Gulaal,bolo tum kya chahthi ho?". Gulaal gasps and is unable to answer immediately. She knew that they needed to leave right now but to her surprise she found herself answering "main'..main jaana nahi chahthi Kesar.main yahin rehna chahthi hoon,tumhare saath,tumhari baahon mein.main ab kabhi akele nahi rehna chahthi.ek pal ke liye bhi nahi.", and she surrenders herself to him completely trusting him with her whole heart. Kesar is elated to hear her answer and hugs her tightly with a wide smile on his face "tumhe shaayad patha bhi nahi Gulaal ki tumhare is jawaab ne mujhe kitni khushi di hai". He moves back and kisses her gently on the forehead.

He then leads her to the mirror which leaves her confused. Kesar smiles at her confusion and says gently " mirror mein apna chehra tho dekho.kitni laal ho gayi ho aur tumhara make up bhi kharaab ho gaya hai.ab aise neeche jaaogi tho sab tumse sawaal poochenge.waise meri nazar mein tho tum par yeh look sab se acha lagta hai. lekin shaayad baaki koi mujhse sehmath nahi hoga". Gulaal looks at herself in the mirror and is quite embarrassed to realize that Kesar is telling the truth. Her hair was all tangled,her lipstick all but gone and there was a pinkish hue to her cheeks which was natural. But she did agree with Kesar, she quite liked this look because she finally felt happy, free from all unnecessary burdens. Gulaal then proceeds to touch up her face with Kesar looking on at her with a dreamy smile. After a few seconds she turns to him and Kesar asks "tho chalein neeche", and he turns around to leave but is stopped by Gulaal's voice "Kesar ruko,abhi nahi."

Kesar looks at Gulaal in surprise and says in a teasing voice "arre waah tum abhi jaana nahi chahthi.tho theek hai hum yahin reh jaate hain", and he comes back and holds her in a loose hug.

Gulaal frees herself from his hold and takes him in front of the mirror holding his hand "ab apne aap ko tho dekho.aise jaaoge tum?" kesar looks at himself and finds nothing amiss with his appearance "kya?mujhe tho kuch dikh nahi raha".

Gulaal insists "gaur se dekho apne chehre ko'tumhe patha chal jaayega".

Kesar looks closely and realizes that there were traces of Gulaal's red lipstick all over his cheeks and lips. He looked funny and as they share a look they break into laughter. Gulaal makes Kesar sit down and then with the help of a wipe cleans away the red traces. Kesar looks at her with affection and blurts out "main aaj ghar jaate hi Motaba se baat karunga Gulaal.itne din baat nahi ho paayi lekin ab main aur waqt barbaad nahi karna chahtha.tumhe jald se jald apni dulhan banaakar ghar le jaana chahtha hoon.tumhe koi problem tho nahi na Gulaal".

Gulaal smiles calmly "maine vaada kiya hai na Kesar ki main tumhari har baat maanungi tho phir.haan ab tum presentable lag rahe ho.chalo ab jaldi neeche chalte hain.pehle main jaati hoon.phir tum thodi der baad aa jaana.ok". Gulaal goes to open her door and is surprised to find Rewa outside "arre main tum dono ko kab se doondh rahi hoon.Motaba aur Revji uncle tum dono ko bulaa rahe hain.patha nahi bahut serious lag rahe the.shaayad kuch zaroori baat hai.chalo jaldi".

Gulaal and Kesar look at each other with hesitation in their eyes but it lasts only for a second. They give each other a small smile and just like that they are ready to face their family together.
