As for GV...no doubt their relationship stands on it's own level but they bonded on one level...ideology...Vasant transformed her in that sense...GK bond and connect on too many levels to count...I mean I can go back and watch old scenes even now and it won't change my POV...Vasant was great but Kesar is on his own level especially so when it comes to Gulaal.

@ Jzee , so true - GK were the soulmates that GV could not be , for all the reasons discussed

@ Nur, very well said - GV bonded on ideaology and also theirs was the first relationship of youth in so many ways..but GK connected on so many different levels and in such unique ways that it was mind boggling - and I am not at all for the Vasant dream, but I liked the way he asked her - "kya Kesar ke rehte tune kabhi khud ko akela mahsoos kiya ?" No matter who said it , I think that was a very simple but significant statement about the GK relationship: no matter what their stated or unstated stands , they were always "with" the other - and at this I recall how they sat together near the door motionless after the Dushyant revelation, probably for hours ..being "with" each other without even realising it ... silent , devastated and together...
